Great price. Easy process.

Never again, RAC have lost me forever, breakdown cover and insurance

Easy renewal

Insurance renewal was quick and easy. However I then tried to change my email address and failed. I contacted the "help" email address and days later still no response...

Renewal of my policy followed receipt of competative quote.
Once I was able to speak with an agent everything went smoothly.

There was nothing we had to do except check the insurance and that was it. It’s such a great way to be able to relax and not have to worry or start ringing round to compare prices we had lots of quotes via email of which none came close to this one. So only a positive experience. I have just realised I only pressed 4 stars when it’s actually a 5 star service

I thought I would choose rac because they are a well known company, trust worthy,I have brake down cover with you as well.thats I have gone with rac I choosed wat I needed for my car insurance,so easy to follow.

The renewal price this year was very competitive and although it wasn't the cheapest, I decided that given previous history with RAC, I would remain loyal and auto renew, especially considering the free legal cover on offer.
Yhe user experience was good and the process was straightforward with good comms throughout.

My experience with RAC following a motor claim has been absolutely exhausting.

My accident happened on 11 August 2025. More than 13 months later, I still do not have this matter resolved or my own vehicle back in a usable condition.

My car spent months in the repair process. RAC’s own complaint investigation later acknowledged that a required part had been on backorder for 182 days and that the length of the delay should have been identified sooner. An alternative part was eventually authorised and the car was finally returned in March 2026.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of it. When the car came back, I raised serious concerns including an engine-management warning light, extremely poor fuel consumption and problems with the exhaust. I have photographs and emails supporting the condition of the vehicle and the concerns I raised at the time.

This then led to months of further emails, inspections and investigations. My vehicle was even taken to a main dealership for further investigation, yet I am still asking basic questions about when the fault occurred and how the evidence obtained actually addressed the issues I raised.

The situation I am in now is unbelievable. I was told my replacement hire vehicle had been extended until 29 September, only to then be told by Enterprise that it had actually been off-hired from 14 September and that I could potentially be liable for charges. At the same time, I have been told my own vehicle is now accruing storage charges and needs collected, despite it having no MOT and the underlying issue remaining disputed.

Throughout all of this, I have continued paying finance on my own car and estimate I have been unable to use it for around nine months out of the last 13.

What makes this particularly difficult is that this claim has now run alongside my entire pregnancy. I am almost eight months pregnant and still spending my time chasing different organisations, trying to establish who is responsible and how I am supposed to get my own vehicle back into a usable condition.

I have extensive emails, photographs, reports and correspondence supporting what I have written here. I have repeatedly asked for senior intervention and a clear resolution, and the matter has now been referred to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

RAC has offered me compensation, but I have made clear that I do not accept this as resolution of an ongoing complaint when I am still without a usable vehicle and potentially facing further costs.

After 13 months, I don’t want another apology or to be passed to another department. I simply want somebody at RAC with the authority to look at the complete history, take responsibility for RAC’s part in what has happened, and help finally bring this matter to a conclusion. And this generic reply isn’t helpful if your ceo is aware I’m sure you can find out details.

I had a quote that suited my needs at a great pricy

My premium was increased significantly higher - an increase of 80% from last year. (I am.also a member of RAC breakdown). I feel that is not justified and will not be recommending to friends and family and will look to insure with another provider.
