We renewed our contract with AMEX car rentals for the second month as we have had excellent experience with them. Thanks to John for arranging the renewal, which was very professionally and diligently executed by Shahzad Ahmed by delivering the renewal contract to us. Shahzad was exceptionally polite, professional and meticulous. Thanks to the whole AMEX car rental team!

Good service oriented company with professional manner of handling customers and I think the best rates. Made a booking online around 10.30 PM, money was charged to my credit card, the website after payment glitched and I did not reach the payment confirmation page or receive any email confirmations. I was worried for a possible scam but they called me first thing in the morning and arranged delivery of the car the same day. Thank you Shyam for being so friendly. One thing the company ca improve at is the option of picking up the car yourself without having to pay the pick up and drop charges. I still have the car and if any changes to my review, will edit so I can contribute toward helping other customers looking to deal with Amex car rental company.

Before my trip I contacted them several times – no reply at all. Zero support. Had to cancel because I had no idea if the booking was even real.
When I asked for the free cancellation refund they promised, they refused. Said my booking reference “not recognized” and told me to call billing department myself by phone. What a joke.

Terrible service. Stay away.

My experience with Carshell UAE has been an absolute nightmare and a blatant demonstration of scam-like behavior. I am posting this to warn every potential customer: DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE if you ever want to see your security deposit again or deal with an honest company.
I rented a car, returned it in the exact same, undamaged condition, and they duly took a hefty security deposit from me. After accounting for one reduced traffic fine, I was promised the balance would be refunded within 30 working days.
The Reality: Ghosting and Broken Promises
It has now been over 40 days (far exceeding their own ridiculously long timeline), and my money is nowhere to be seen.
The most infuriating part is their total disappearance since the return. Before I rented the car, they were quick, responsive, and friendly. Now that they owe me money, they have become complete ghosts:
• They do not answer calls.
• They do not respond to messages or emails.
This is not a mistake; this is a calculated strategy to delay or outright keep customer funds. They switch from professional rental service to an unprofessional, silent entity the moment they need to process a refund.
They Are Holding My Money Hostage!
Carshell UAE is effectively holding my security deposit hostage. They operate on the assumption that customers will eventually give up, allowing them to pocket the funds. Their pre-rental customer service is a deceptive front for what appears to be a deposits-looting operation.
If you value your money and your peace of mind, choose any other rental company. Carshell UAE has proven they are not trustworthy. Their lack of communication and failure to adhere to their own refund timeline is unacceptable, unethical, and a clear warning sign of a scam.

I would give zero stars if I could. My experience with AMEX Car Rentals UAE has been appalling from start to finish.

To begin with, they delivered a car that was in completely unacceptable condition — it should not have been allowed on public roads. To their credit, they did replace it. Unfortunately, the replacement vehicle had serious mechanical issues as well, including engine misfiring and unstable cruise control. Due to this malfunction, I even received a speeding fine in Abu Dhabi.

They replaced the vehicle again, which only reinforced my concern about the overall state of their fleet and operations.

However, the most frustrating part has been the blatant disregard for returning my deposit. Despite repeated follow-ups over the past seven months — including calls to four different phone numbers and at least six emails sent to two different addresses — I have yet to receive any response, let alone a refund.

I strongly advise staying away from this company. Their service is unreliable, their cars are in poor condition, and their customer support is virtually non-existent.

We rented a car that was clearly not in proper working condition — the Apple CarPlay didn’t work, the engine made disturbing noises, and overall it was not safe to drive. We immediately tried to get in touch to exchange it, but they were completely unreachable. Multiple WhatsApp messages and calls went ignored for days.

When we finally got through, they refused to replace the car, tried to stall us, and made excuses to delay so they could charge us for extra days – even though the car wasn’t functioning properly in the first place. Now they are refusing a refund and taking no responsibility for this terrible service.

This company is dishonest, unprofessional, and clearly not interested in customer safety or satisfaction. Renting from them was a huge mistake — don’t let it happen to you.
Zero stars if I could.
