Dear Steve

Thank you for your feedback and we're sorry to hear the squirrels have been causing you trouble.

What you've described, squirrels learning to hang upside down while gripping the tube, is almost always a sign that the feeder is hung close enough to a pole, branch, fence or other surface for the squirrel to brace itself or drop down onto it. The PestOff needs at least 45cm (18 inches) of clear space in all directions, ideally hung from a long, thin bracket. When a squirrel has nothing to brace against, it has to commit its full weight to the feeder, and the weight-activated ports close instantly. It's also worth checking the clear anti-squirrel ring is fitted snugly around the tube, as this is specifically designed to stop squirrels getting a grip on it. Squirrels are amazingly agile but will give up quickly when it's a lot of effort for little reward.

On the starling cage, we'd like to clarify that it doesn't replace or defeat the closing action. The cage is designed to keep out starlings and larger birds, while the spring-loaded perches continue to work inside it, stopping squirrels from reaching through the mesh to feed. The two features work together. The gaps in the cage are carefully sized to let small songbirds pass through freely; if they were any smaller, the birds the feeder is designed for wouldn't be able to get in either.

We do wish you had contacted us before leaving this review, as positioning issues like this are something our team resolves with customers regularly who have this issue. Our PestOff range has sold over a million units across the UK and USA and has been independently recommended by the Telegraph, and when hung correctly it is genuinely effective against squirrels. Please do get in touch with us directly and we'd be happy to help you get the setup right.

Kind regards,
The Roamwild Team

Dear Liz

Thank you for your feedback and we're really pleased to hear the birds love the feeders.

On the seed on the ground, the PestOff's seed shield is designed to stop birds rummaging through and flicking seed out of the feeding ports, which is where most spillage from traditional feeders comes from. However, no feeder can stop a bird from dropping seed from its beak once it has taken it, which is natural feeding behaviour. If you're using a mixed seed, birds will often pick out their favourites and discard the rest, so sunflower hearts, which have no husks and very little waste, make a noticeable difference. For any seed that does fall, our PestOff Seed Catcher sits beneath the feeder and catches it before it reaches the ground.

Regarding the plastic clip, we're sorry to hear this has worn, and we do wish you had contacted us before leaving this review. This is something our team could have helped with, and we would never want you to be relying on tape to keep your feeder working. Please get in touch with us directly with your order details and a photo of the affected part, and we'll look into this and get the right replacement part to you.

Our PestOff range has sold over a million units across the UK and USA and has been independently recommended by the Telegraph, and we stand behind it. We'd really like the chance to put this right for you.

Kind regards,
The Roamwild Team

Dear Jane

Thank you for your kind words about the product, we're really pleased you love it!

We're sorry to hear the box arrived damaged, particularly as it was intended as a gift. We operate a reduced packaging policy to minimise our environmental impact, and while our packaging is carefully chosen to protect contents during transit, occasionally boxes can sustain damage during the courier journey which is unfortunately outside of our control.

If the product itself is in perfect condition we hope it was still well received as a gift.

Kind regards,
The Roamwild Team
