Total scammers. They quoted £69 and then came out, I could not get into my flat and they said it would be £169 to drill the lock and then £59 for the lock. I didn't want to pay that but needed to get in. Once he drilled the lock out he said to replace it would be £199 on top of the £169!! He said £59 is for a basic lock which is not the same as mine. I didn't have that much money and in the end had to pay him the £169 to get rid of him and get someone else to replace the lock. The company is a scam. The name on the invoice does not match the name on the website and companies house said they are proposed to be struck off. Avoid like the plague. The website also pretends that it is a local company.

Price quadrupuled but they only disclosed this after fixing the "lock" which I later discovered they changed the keyhole not the lock.

A day later, when I found out, they claimed I needed to pay £150 extra for them to complete the job.

To reinforce the idea that this was not just a work dispute, they did not put the first line of their address on their webpage, suggesting this scam is being run on many people. Also, no google page for reviews.

Like everyone else says - AVOID. Reading branch absolutely unbelievable. Arrived 45 mins late even though I checked how long it'd take as it was urgent, so they didn't give me a chance to consider calling someone else.
Invoice doesn't give a breakdown of the ridiculous price and when asked verbally they charged a call out fee after their website specifically says they do not.

When I spoke to Sam he got irate before I even communicated anything properly which clearly showed he was not interested in hearing me out to question the pricing and he said it was my fault for paying it in the first place as though you're not allowed to question an invoice.

Untrustworthy, totally take advantage of people in need of help in a sticky situation.

Used the Reading Branch on Christmas Eve and unfortunately was scammed like everyone else. We left our house with our three year old daughter just before 5pm to realise we had left the keys in our house. As it was cold and dark I quickly used google to find a locksmith and this was the first listing that said they would come out in 30 minutes or under. I was quoted a call out charge of £70 (realised afterwards that they advertise no call out charge on their website). The guy arrived in an Enterprise van and said the charge would be £75 plus £165 for the work because rates were higher with it being Christmas eve (even though technically Christmas eve is a normal working day!). It took the guy longer to tell us about the charge than it did for him to open our door, it literally took him 10 seconds and he was charging us £240 for this. To top it off when I checked my receipt later that evening he had actually charged us £300! (he used a card machine that did not show the amount on it). Completely took advantage of two desperate parents on Christmas eve because as he had said himself, he had a slow day that day!! I called the company back that evening to report the charge and he said he would look into it and call me back. Surprise surprise, I didn't get a call so after a week I called again and the same guy answered the phone even though he said he knew nothing about it and said the same thing, I will investigate and call you back. I have reported the add to google and will also be taking this to trading standards. We need to put a stop to these crooks!

Never engage with this company. We used them in our Hertfordshire location but they appear to be doing this all over the country. They were misleading with their quotation for a new front door lock, quoting £117+VAT as the highest price option. Did not turn up on the day and then after installing the new lock on a rearranged date charged us £364 telling us that lock prices below this did not meet British standards. We have since been informed by other locksmiths this is significant overcharging. They are misleading and unethical in the service they provide.

Samlocks in Coventry-They mislead on the cost of changing a lock. On the phone they quoted me £59 and a key cylinder lock replacement for £29.99. The engineer did not turn up as stated over the phone in half an hour. When I called them again they said their engineer will be there in an hour.
When engineer turned up he said that his charge was £99 for the cylinder lock replacement and £59 for the labour. When I explained my quote was different on the phone yesterday , he said the quote was the starting price. Its a rip off!
I called the office whilst the engineer was there and the admin said its what the engineer charges. They miss sell you their service and the engineer tries pressurising you saying he has to leave as he is very busy. They are miss selling you their service and ripping you off- Use another company.

Absolutely awful, I will never use them again. I used the Bedford branch, they told me it was £79 to just remove the key cylinder lock. Once they removed the key they told me I must pay £110. They also tried to charge me £110 for a new key cylinder, you can buy one at screw fix for £15. Use another company that won't rip you off.

called samlocks to ope a patio door quote given was£59 when the guy arrived he said I charge 149 for opening the door and it took him 2 hours to open the door by breaking the key lock and then he gave another quote which is that it will cost another 220 pounds for the whole mechanism and then after breaking the key he only replaced the lock with a normal key lock which is not for these upvc special doors so it doesn’t even lock properly and keys can’t be removed if locked and said I can’t do more as the full mechanism system will cost you £600 And he wanted to charge me £433 which is not worth and he said at the beginning the whole mechanism and work will be £330 work not to standards and the door was damaged.

Please listen to the others. I hadn’t seen these reviews until afterwards. Used this company yesterday.

Then a guy pulls up in an old Mercedes with a tool box- no ID no uniform and English wasn’t the best to be honest. Not professional and clearly not a company as most arrive in vans displaying the company details. These are clearly people who know what they are doing but aren’t professionals at it.

Tells me £150 to open the door (it took 10 minutes) but apparently that’s because he is a pro now and that’s why it’s so quick (totally irrelevant point he made).

PLEASE AVOID, there clearly is no set price as you can see in these comments everyone has been quoted differently.

I can’t find this company on company houses or anywhere else so they are clearly not official nor registered. I will be trying to pursue this.

Would give zero if i had the option. Charged call out fee even though they advertised free call out. Added £120 labour for 35 mins work. Had to replace the lock at £75. I asked for a copy of the invoice with a breakdown of the charges but I still did not receive this after giving my email twice and following up with promises to send it. Save yourself the stress and find a reputable company to assist you.i wish i had read the reviews before.

I wish I could leave zero stars. This company is full of con men. Quoted approx £100 to sort out broken lock on the front door of my 94 year old father’s house. He is also disabled and going blind. Ended up charging him £682 for an hours work including fitting a new lock. He was so frightened and flustered and so feeling intimidated he paid. Avoid at all costs. They prey on vulnerable people. This work was carried out by Sam locks in Farnham btw.

I wish there was a Lower rating. The person on the phone quoted £59/- to open a UPVC door. Turned up saying this will cost 190/-, i negotiated to £150/- and asked him to just open the Lock. The guy started damaging the PVC door and i intervened and asked him not to damage the door. Long story short the door was opened but it is in a mess, i am lucky it didn't break the Glass had i not stopped the guy.

DO NOT USE !!!!! This company must be a SCAM. The ones I called said they were Guildford based, are they using someone else's logos etc? Anyway, on the phone they quoted me £59 for labour only if they can fix without needing any parts, it was only a small UPVC door lock issue.
They then tried to charge me £532 after turning up!!! When I told them I'll need to think about it and will let them know tomorrow, they left the door dismantled and so I couldn't shut it overnight ! When I called the office they said they'd sort it out. They never did anything. So I called the Engineer, eventually he agreed to come back within 1 hour, he never showed up !!

THE WORST!!! cannot express this enough this company is the biggest scam do not go with them. They told me over the phone the new lock was going to be £27 (should've known this was too good to be true) then when the guy got there, not in uniform like they advertised on their site and absolutely zero communication as to what he was doing. Then in the end charged us £59 for labour (that's fine as this is standard) and £89 for a temporary lock that we cannot use and will last only a week, had no choice but to pay this since he drilled through my original lock. Called the company and complained about this, they said fine and I don't have to pay any more, I asked for a written conformation about this to avoid what happened previously. Then after calling they said they did not agree with me on this and literally stopped taking my calls. Absolute worst company, reporting them as a scam right now.
