DO NOT USE !!!!
DO NOT USE !!!!! This company must be a SCAM. The ones I called said they were Guildford based, are they using someone else's logos etc? Anyway, on the phone they quoted me £59 for labour only if they can fix without needing any parts, it was only a small UPVC door lock issue.
They then tried to charge me £532 after turning up!!! When I told them I'll need to think about it and will let them know tomorrow, they left the door dismantled and so I couldn't shut it overnight ! When I called the office they said they'd sort it out. They never did anything. So I called the Engineer, eventually he agreed to come back within 1 hour, he never showed up !!
AVOID AND REPORT !!
THE WORST!!
THE WORST!!! cannot express this enough this company is the biggest scam do not go with them. They told me over the phone the new lock was going to be £27 (should've known this was too good to be true) then when the guy got there, not in uniform like they advertised on their site and absolutely zero communication as to what he was doing. Then in the end charged us £59 for labour (that's fine as this is standard) and £89 for a temporary lock that we cannot use and will last only a week, had no choice but to pay this since he drilled through my original lock. Called the company and complained about this, they said fine and I don't have to pay any more, I asked for a written conformation about this to avoid what happened previously. Then after calling they said they did not agree with me on this and literally stopped taking my calls. Absolute worst company, reporting them as a scam right now.
Used the Brentwood branch
Used the Brentwood branch. Complete scam. Quoted £60 over the phone to replace a lock on a UVPC door. Guy turned up, drilled a hole in the door and said it would be £180 to replace the lock. When we complained he became quite aggressive, awful experience, paid up as just wanted him gone.
Dont use, they do not have free call out!
We called the locksmith out to help us unlock a window and supply a key based on the fact they say no call out fee. He turned up quickly then instead of supplying a key picked the lock to open the window. He was there for 5 minutes and asked for £99. My husband bartered him down to £69. Dont use unless you have a fixed price prior to arrival. They do not have a free call out!
AWFUL - DO NOT USE
AWFUL! DO NOT USE THEM. Daylight robbery literally. The head office guy hung up on when I wanted to speak to the manager Sam. I fell for this trap twice & got robbed. We need to sue this company for fraud and misrepresentation. The guy they sent to the house was scary looking & he said he wont leave until he got the payment, I felt like he was ready to beat me up so I ended up paying him when I was quoted something completely different.
Samlocks Bedford
Samlocks Bedford. My wife was out and came back to find the front door lock had failed. This company claims to have a free call out and transparent costs. They quoted £60- £70 over the phone. Took 2 hours to turn up, stayed for about 45 minutes, fitted a cheap lock (value £30-£40). Charged £238. No invoice left. I phoned them up and asked for an itemised receipt. Nothing received. This is an unregulated company. AVOID
Scam avoid at all costs...
I came home the other day and as I went to go back out my door the handle came off I my hand so in panic I phoned this lock smith .. sams lock smith based in Northampton. I said to the bloke on the phone I had walked in then went back out and the handle came off in my hand I said how much is it going to cosy he said £59 Labour charge and £29 for handle so being late in the evening I needed it fixed he said be about 35 minutes.
After 10 minutes someone called wasn't the same bloke I spoke to he said I'll be with you in about 40 minutes. 1 hour past amd he came I showed him the handle.. all he had on him was a tool bag with genral house hold tools we all keep he went to get his stuff out of the bag I said hold on how much is this going to be... and he turned round and said £150 plus £59 for labour I said no I don't think so I'm not paying £150 for a handle! He tried to say the barrel needed doing as well luckily my dad just pulled up and heard him say about the barrel my dad said no it's just then handle and the bloke stuttered... so I said how much he said £150 so I said that's not what the bloke said on the phone ... he then tried to say I hadn't told the bloke on the phone what was wrong... I said yes I did because I knew what had happened the handle came off in my hand so I need a new handle and the bloke quoted me £29 . Then he just stood there on his phone for a couple of minutes.. so I turned to my dad and said we'll they advertise no call out charge so we will just leave it.. the bloke picked up his bag of house tools and walked off... this company are con artists and im lucky my dad turned up so he could see I was not on my own....and that I was not about to be ripped off.. make sure you avoid or if they do come out before they start taking things apart ask him what he is charging because its different from what is being said on the phone!
Steer clear of Samlocks Crawley
Samlocks Crawley. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Firstly they claim on their website that there are no call out charges. Not true. We were charged £50 (cash) for a worker to stand on the doorstep for 5 minutes trying to upsell us a new door. Apparently the “no call out charge” only applies if they actually carry out any work. This is not specified on their website and is misleading. We were also quoted £500 to replace a Yale lock with a UPVC multilock. £500!! For a job that shouldn’t cost more than £200 at most including the lock.
Please do not give this company your business. There are lots of better, more honest and affordable locksmiths in the area. This company are opportunistic and incredibly overpriced. I shall be contacting Trading Standards to report the misleading claims on their website.
I used the Northampton branch of this…
I used the Northampton branch (wwwsamlocksmithnorthampton) of this business, Sam’s Locksmiths. I was given a price over the phone, by Sam, to change locks in relation to a bailiff visit two weeks in advance of today. Today, the locksmith that visited the property told me a price that was £115’s more. I obviously questioned the charge with the locksmith who told me that he doesn’t actually work for Sam’s Locksmith but another firm. Due to the fact that I needed the work completed, I had to agree on the price but contacted Sam. He was very rude, refused to answer why he told me a wrong price and told me that the price is now the price then pretty much put the phone down. I would most certainly recommend everyone NOT to use this company and wish I’d read some of these Trust pilot reviews because I should not have used them.
Used the Maidenhead branch to fix my…
Used the Maidenhead branch to fix my door. Absolute crooks. Charged me £120 (inc VAT which i suspect they’re not actually registered for) only for a guy to turn up and replaced a spindle which broke after 1 day). Cost me hundreds to fix the issue afterwards. Definitely avoid. Will be contacting trading standards.
Daylight robbery
Daylight robbery. Quotes £69 to open a front door with a broken key. The guy then proceeds to annihilate the lock, knowing nobody could leave their home unsecured he then proceeded to charge a further £ 144 for what appears to be a £20 lock anyone can buy from b and q. Be aware
Please avoid, genuinely think this is a scam and no customer service
Called Sam's locksmith and they actually send out go locksmith? Website says call out within half an hour and no hidden fees. Not here within half an hour so I called and they said 25 more mins, I cancelled and then they kept calling back and hassling for a cancellation fee!? None stop call. Called up for the cancellation fee back, as my husband paid it to get the guy off our back. The man on the phone kept hanging up on me when all I was asking what happened and why I called Sam's but I paid Go, didn't even get around to asking for any money back! Rude guy and just kept cutting me off now won't answer
DO NOT USE
DO NOT USE! would give 0 if I could.
Wanted the locks on my 75 year old mother’s house. Quoted £115 for both locks. 30 min response time, 2 hours later he turns up. Asks me what level of security I want, low medium or high. Obviously high. Then quoted me a different price didn’t give me a total, should have asked. £626 later. The one lock doesn’t work. Called them back to complain sent the same guy out told me it was my fault for not having the key straight! Refused to change the lock I asked for a refund and told them to take the out, they said it didn’t work like that in the locksmith industry as they couldn’t resell the lock. Sprayed some WD40 then asked if I could move his car! Promised to come the next day to change the lock, didn’t. Rude, aggressive. They give immigrants a bad name. Do not use. Had to call someone else to come and correct it. The list of errors that have had to be corrected is extensive. The ‘high’ security lock was £11.70 online and poor security. STAY CLEAR! You have been warned.
Civil case and trading standards informed and prepared.
Would give zero if I could
Would give zero if I could.
Called Sam's locksmith in Milton Keynes, was given price of £39 for a call out charge and £20 to change the lock. When locksmith arrived he said it would cost £128, when I said the office said a different price he proceeded to get back into his car and said he has other jobs. Very rude. After calling the office they said they would send him back, I couldn't get hold of any other locksmith so went ahead. He changed part of the lock, not the whole thing which took 10mins at most. I later found these reviews and think I was scammed.
Be careful guys had a guy come out…
Be careful guys had a guy come out today. I was told on the phone 89 to change the lock, when the guy finished he demanded 145 I said no. I also asked for a bolt as well when I called but the guy that did the work said he didn’t have one!!!!!!!!!! Seems dodgy. He slipped up also as he forgot to give me my keys he then handed me 5. I have a feeling not all of them were ment for me. When you call the mobile number of the locksmith it says number not recognised. Also if you look on the website the numbers quickly change from one number to the next. Do not trust. I’m going to be getting my locks changed and see if the bank will return the funds. Scam.
Samlocks
We used their Biggleswade branch.
We needed a replacement security lock to satisfy our new house insurance company. We remembered a company in nearby Biggleswade and thought we had found them online showing as Locksmith Biggleswade. We contacted them and asked if they could do the job and they came the next day. We found out afterwards that they were actually called Sam’s Locks with a ‘distribution centre’ in Biggleswade but with a Letchworth postcode.
They offered ‘no callout charge’ and we did not ask for emergency services.
The operator came in a private car and carried out an efficient job. First of all he told us the labour would be £89 but we omitted to ask the price for the actual lock and its three keys and just said ok go ahead.
We said we needed two additional keys and the operator offered to get them then and he charged £39 for the trip but did not tell us that charge in advance. He also charged £36 to actually cut the two keys which was excessive, the typical cost being £5-7 each if you take the master key to a key cutting shop. What was a surprise was the cost of the lock was charged at £275. The typical price of that ERA lock is £65 with its 3 keys. We had said ‘go ahead’ with the job without knowing what they would charge for the lock and that was our bad mistake.
The operator asked us to pay the bill immediately as he had a card machine. He said we would get a receipt and a guarantee by email. Our complaints are:
1. The excessive mark up on the lock cost. We would have considered say 15% on the high street price as an acceptable mark up but not 423% times the typical price.
2. The operator did not tell us fetching the keys would cost £39 and cutting was £18 each. This meant that the cost of the two additional keys was £75. We would not have accepted this price and would have bought them ourselves later. He should have told us.
3. Cutting two keys at £18 each is more than 100% mark up.
4. The Invoice which arrived by email had no company address but was headed National Lockmsith Ltd (note the incorrect spelling …. is this deliberate?) and we note that, with the spelling corrected, it is a London based company with overdue accounts. It did not mention Sam’s Locks.
This does make us wonder about the company setup.
6. Lastly we have not received any emailed guarantee as stated by the operator.
We would not use this company again although if you check exactly what the bill will be and you get a proper guarantee then it might be ok. The work was satisfactory.
Rogue Traders
I would like to bring to your attention regards a incident with this rogue unprofessional buineses, they say they come in to repair, but break your locks to further up the bill, they advertise as "no callout"but more than make the money on a higher price claiming that needed a parts which they destroyed,I was left without a lock on my front door, when confronted the engineer regards the price,he then left very quickly,he stated he was only the worker, but he was the one I spoke to to arrange the appointment and failed to speak to me and went along to my family stating they requested parts be replaced, thanks for the cams these days everything is on video evidence if he wishes to pursue this any further,so far no contact has been made,i have logged this incident with the local police st too, please be very careful vigilant off this company,Its like something like on BBC Watch Dog.
