Pricey / Rude

I don't really eat candy anymore, but when I do its See's. I am so disappointed in the company. I know prices are going up but $32 a pound?!! This is almost rare gem prices. I only eat a few varieties that they sell. I wish I could count on not being robbed for a few pieces of delicious candy. Mostly, I have had a good experience with the quality. There have only been a couple of times when the candy tasted a little stale. I went to the downtown San Francisco location to get what little I could afford and a very rude woman with ratty, multi-colored hair "helped me".
I have never had such an unpleasant experience at any other location in the 40 years I have indulged in this company. Please get these prices and the weird looking/acting employees in order or I will have to give you up.

Purchased an assorted box for my wife…

Purchased an assorted box for my wife as she has to eat gluten free. Very poor quality and tasted stale…will never buy again…. Could have bought a box of Snickers for about the same price and they are gluten free too. I really don’t appreciate being ripped off! No I do not want to change my review! Sees candy you have all my info and you know how to reach me.very lack luster response ….send me a check for what I paid and I will send you back the remaining candy!

St Patrick's Day Potato

The exterior is Awful, don't buy it.
It costs over $7 and is not worth the taste.
The interior is good - walnuts with cream, but the exterior is mushy, and too sweet. The picture on the box doesn't match the actual product. The picture looks like a chocolate exterior, but in actuality it is a dusty combination of horrible ingredients. I fell for it and bought it because I read it had walnuts. That part was OK - but getting to it from the exterior dusty coating --- yuck yuck. Why would I punish myself to pay over $7 for a dusty yucky exterior. Don't buy it!!!

I purchased an e gift card for my grand…

I purchased an e gift card for my grand daughters from Sees Candy online on 2/7/2024. They used it ONCE on 2/8/2024 and had a remaining balance of $106.00. On 2/11/2024 they went to a Sees store and had picked out additional candies but when they got to the counter, they were told that there was a ZERO balance. They did not use this left over $106.00 dollars. My son and I both filed claims with sees 3rd party vendor ‘buyatab’ and made phone calls. Nothing was ever done and we both kept being told that it takes 24 to 48 hours to resolve. We just kept getting the run around and our follow up emails kept generating new case numbers. What a joke. I also contacted Sees corporation and was told to contact their 3rd party vendor ‘buyatab’. What a joke. No one ever explained what happened to their $106.00 balance and they didn’t seem to care. Nor did Sees. This is not the customer service that I expected from such a well respected company that I remembered from the past. My grand daughters were embarrassed and humiliated in the store when they were told that there was nothing left on their e-card. This was in the sees candy shop in front of other customers and for a teenager and preteen they were devastated. I called my bank’s fraud department after a week of being given the run around and they are investigating the incident. I am so angry about this situation and lack of customer service from Sees and their 3rd party vendor ‘buyatab’. I would have rated them ZERO if I could have. VLL

This is the worst tasting chocolate…

This is the worst tasting chocolate creams I've ever had. I ordered the Raspberry hearts and the packaging was so bad that they were smashed inside the box and what wasn't smashed was loose. But they taste terrible. Secondly, I paid for a $32 box of assorted cremes. Awful. What a waste of $64 for this order. I don't recommend their chocolate at all. Wish I had checked Trustpilot before ordering from this place.

See’s candy WAS the best chocolate ever…

See’s candy WAS the best chocolate ever especially for the price, hand picked and wrapped. Now at $32 a pound, chocolates are mostly fillings with a thin coat of what dies nort seem to be Guittard chocolate anymore! Very disappointing with this stellar institution going just for profits. Will buy hershey’ s in a bag from now on for a fourth if the price. Sad reviewer here. Been eating See’s for over 50 years.

Chocolates yes, hot cocao no

Overall, I love Sees Chocolates, but I was thoroughly underwhelmed by their hot cocao mix. I was expecting to be blown away (an expectation based upon the exorbitant price and the quality of their chocolates) but found that a generic brand hot chocolate mix at the local grocery store was as good.

See's loses 50 year customer

As a customer of See's Candy for over 50 years, I am seriously disappointed with service this holiday season. I placed an order on Nov 30 for delivery Dec 12-16. When it hadn't shipped by Dec 12 I called customer service. I was told there was a delay and they processed a duplicate complimentary order for delivery on Dec 14. When it wasn't received by Dec 17 I called again. This time they processed a second complimentary order for delivery on Dec 19. The See's web site indicates the Dec 12 order has shipped but never picked up by UPS. Both the Nov 30 and Dec 17 orders were received on Dec 22, too late for delivery to the businesses we had ordered for as holiday gifts. They were delivered after the New Year arrived. On Jan 2, I sent a letter to the CEO which included my address, phone number and e-mail. No response to date. While the CSR's tried to solve the issue, the shipping department is out of control and needs to be fixed. Without a good explanation from See's there will be no 51st year of eating their candy.
See's replied on Jan 12 asking for personal contact info so they could address the problem. I provided the info right away but have heard nothing. They are now down to a half star in my book.

Something is different

I consider See's candies the best in the USA. I have been a customer for decades. This year, I ordered all dark almond nougat....2 pounds of it! I have discovered that not all nougats are equal. The ones without the "backbone" markings, have maybe one almond while those with the "backbone" have around 5. I feel paying full price, I should get the full deal. Is this a new policy?

vanillin is NOT vanilla…

I am especially fond of the amazing walnut bars but for crying out loud if you’re going to charge $17 for eight pieces of candy don’t give us artificial flavor like vanillin- pony up for the vanilla for God sakes otherwise you’re just making us suckers. I’m so angry since I discovered this, that I have a very poor opinion of Sees now.

Not the same chocolates Mrs.made and passed on

I grew up with Sees Candy in southern CA. It was the best, and no waxie chocolate anywhere in the box. At this time of year I would stand in the store line to purchase the product in Downey CA.
This year the formulas was changed. Waxy chocolate now. No longer melts in your mouth but sticks to your teeth like waxy crayons.
I'm 77 now and I will no longer ever gift See's Candy again, what a disappointment in an age old product.
Not sure who is in charge now, must be a relative, please fire the person.
Once you lose a buyer it takes 10 times as long with hard work to get them back.
I will never buy See's Candy again, they have destroyed the image and product, and they always had bad service at this time of the year anyway.
PS Milk Chocolate Chips were my favorite, now they stick like waxy crayons to my teeth and the chocolate no longer melts in your mouth! Simply desolving in your mouth is what made it great. It also had no surface skin in the past, now it shines like it has been spray painted with clear enamel paint.

Sees just never shipped my order

UPDATE:
Sees reached out to me and sent me 2 gift cards to make up for the incident. I am revising my review to reflect the experience.

During the 2023 holiday season, Sees.com advertised and offered 3-day expedited shipping for the reduced price of $9.95. I took advantage of this offer and placed my order for Christmas stocking stuffers on December 16th, a full 9 days before Christmas. I have been a regular Sees customer and Berkshire shareholder for many years. On December 20th, I was notified that my order had shipped via UPS. I thought that was cutting it close, but had faith that it would get here in time. That never happened. In fact, the order never shipped. To this day, the tracking number simply shows a label has been created, and no further movement has transpired. When I called customer service, I was told that they must have just forgot to put my box on the truck. I was not offered expedited shipping to get it in time for Christmas, and the representative told me that was no longer an option despite it very clearly being a possibility. She offered to refund my $9.95 shipping fee. Hello, this is for Christmas. This is a huge ball drop here. While my order was eventually refunded, I feel completely let down. I am not whole and I am not going to shop Sees candies anymore unless this matter is rectified.

Wanted to give my clients sweet gifts…

Wanted to give my clients sweet gifts for the holidays - went to the client section on the website under client gifts ordered $300 worth of candies. and guess what... they shipped the candies with out from address. So my clients received candies, just candies, from no one - no return address, company name etc. Agent on the phone confirmed that there is not a place to put additional msgs. but offered no resolution - I've waited couple of weeks. and without further adieu leaving this negative review.

UPDATE No response at all from Customer Service

UPDATE - AFTER READING THIS REVIEW SEE'S CONTACTED ME AND REFUNDED MY PAYMENT!

Ordered a 2023 Christmas present which they said would be delivered December 18 to the 22nd, but it did not leave See's until the 17th! There is NO WAY a package could get from the West Coast to FLORIDA on time if shipped that late, and of course it did not. It arrived after Christmas, after my relatives left for vacation.

Worse, I tried contacting See's THREE TIMES through email and the online contact form and they never answered. I said I wanted my money back if it was delivered after Christmas. Note - UPS said it was NOT UPS's fault - there were no delays, weather issues ec. They said See's simply shipped too late. I still want a refund, but dead silence from See's. So sad - I order from them every year but do not see how I can do it again.

Disappointed with quality!!

I am disappointed with the quality of the candy now. Too much thick chocolate and the fillings in my box all
Seem to be the same. No good soft cream fillings. I spent a lot of money on several boxes for gifts. I only hope the other boxes are better!

Expedited shipping? We’ll SEE…not.

I paid for expedited shipping, but order hasn’t even arrived as promised. What a hassle to even contact See’s to check on status. Then, when I left a message, the response was “we can’t promise a response to your concerns”. Well, I can promise that this is the last time I’m ordering and will not recommend to others.

Order not received -- See's blames UPS

Order not received -- See's blames UPS, and UPS blames See's. Called customer service twice and was assured the tracking info was delayed but order was on its way. But UPS says the label was created & product never received from See's. Whatever. Huge disappointment. Lost a lifelong customer. These were supposed to be gifts. UPDATE: Got an email thru Trust Pilot requesting info, which I provided (full contact info, order #, etc.). No further response. I assume See's corporate only works to restore confidence & good feelings M-F. Fine normally, but given the holidays and urgent nature... not acceptable. I called a 3rd time Xmas eve and asked to cancel altogether & just get my money back. I have no doubt my order was never even made let alone shipped, so... I was told they have to wait because there's another refund pending (I had to inform them it was for the expedited shipping I'd paid for & they offered to refund on call #2); they can't refund my whole order until the shipping refund clears, which takes up to 14 days. Geeeeeeez. After that, I was told to call back again (call #4) to make sure the order refund was processed. At one point, someone offered a $25 credit....ummm...for what? Cute they think I'll ever place another order in the future lol. At least the people I spoke to were nice and said they were sorry. Not helpful at all, but sorry. I think their talents would be better served working at a better company.

Would not recommend corporate gifting with See's

See’s Candies is great company to purchase corporate gifts from when you want to learn at the last minute that you will not be getting what you ordered and will not be getting a refund until after it’s too late to find another option for holiday gifts. We placed a corporate order on 9/15. On 11/20, the day of delivery, we learn that not only was the driver not going to arrive in time but also that the chocolate was left in an unrefrigerated truck for several days in the hot Florida weather prior to the driver being able to drive down to our location. We spoke with a supervisor named Julie who instructed us that our only option was to accept the delivery and tell her none of the chocolate was melted. For context, a truck can reach between 130-150 degrees Fahrenheit, so after a few days there was basically no chance they hadn’t melted. As these were gifts, it was not feasible to unwrap and check each one. Later, she called us back to tell us we could refuse the delivery and receive a refund. We refused the delivery and waited the 7-10 business days that Julie said it would take but never received a refund. When we called to check on the refund, we spoke with another supervisor named Theresa who was extraordinarily kind. She told us that Julie left a note that said she was unable to get in contact with us to see if we wanted a refund or a new delivery. Additionally, although they had record that we refused the delivery, they could not locate the chocolate. We reiterated our request for a refund and waited again before finally disputing the charge on 12/14, about a month after the delivery should have been made and three months after we placed the initial order. Only yesterday did we receive an email from Theresa letting us know they finally found the chocolate and could submit for my refund. I feel like if you have record that we refused the delivery, your team misplacing the order afterwards should not prevent you from initiating a refund. I had neither the chocolate nor the funds just before the holidays and very little time to put together new gifts for our clients. I appreciate Theresa’s attention and help, but overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I will be closing my personal and corporate See’s account and making sure our company does no further business with them in the future.
