Nightly level of snoring too high

Nightly level of snoring ranges from approx 5 to 30 on Snorelab App. Not consistently low enough!

Better sleep I…

Since I started using my Sommomed I don’t feel tired and don’t need to have a nanny nap during the day.
Love it fully recommend it

Has fixed up my sleep apnoea

Has fixed up my sleep apnoea, way better than the cheaper solutions due to the wing design in the back and it being two pieces rather than one.

Good and not so good

No doubt it reduced snoring but not sure about sleep apnea. I found I never got used to wearing the device. It was particularly troublesome when I had some chest congestion/coughing and I had to remove it. I also was troubled by the fact that my bite was altered even though I was using the corrective bite device in the mornings.

I recently purchased a SomnoMed appliance through Symmetry- Life Changing!

I recently purchased a SomnoMed appliance through Symmetry Dental in Canberra. Life changing experience! Snoring stopped, sleep apnea gone and headaches from teeth grinding drastically reduced in intensity. I thought that it would have been harder to get used to wearing the appliance, but frankly it was pretty easy.
I’m experimenting with strap tension at the moment to find the optimum fitting but so happy I made the decision to go down this path.

Échec de mon orthèse

Début juillet de cette année j'étais heureuse enfin d'avoir mon orthèse après avoir eu plusieurs échecs avec les appareils pour l'apnée je me suis dit enfin je vais peut-être pouvoir dormir respirer correctement ne plus avoir de maux de tête ne plus ressentir cette fatigue constante mais malheureusement l'orthèse est un échec j'ai eu de grosses douleurs au niveau de la mâchoire d'un côté je suis retourné voir la personne qui m'a posé l'orthèse j'y suis allé trois fois en espace d'un mois car cela m'était insupportable et ma mâchoire rester bloquée je m'étais plusieurs jours pour pouvoir retrouver un fonctionnement à peu près normal et la dernière fois où j'y suis allé on m'a dit et ben va falloir arrêter car l'orthèse ne vous convient pas on me dit de reprendre rendez-vous avec l'ORL chose faite je vais attendre le verdict mais je suis totalement déçu dérèglement ont été fait sur l'orthez mais rien n'est fait et je sens bien que c'est un problème de calage mais même ça quand je l'explique on me dit qu'on ne peut rien faire donc retour à la case départ avec une apnée très sévère je vais rester encore longtemps dans cette état de fatigue et à fatiguer mon cœur de plus en plus et j'ai toujours cette angoisse du risque d'avoir un problème cardiaque

Top section mouth guard began to fall…

Top section mouth guard began to fall off after a couple of weeks use. Now it is quite loose and ineffective

Thank you for your review. Your SomnoMed oral device has been made exclusively for you based on the unique shape of your teeth and jaw. It should fit nice and snug on both your upper and lower jaw. Please take your device back to the dentist that supplied your device, who may be able to make some adjustments to the device, or organise for SomnoMed to adjust it. In most cases, these adjustments will be covered by SomnoMed's 2 year product warranty, and your dentist will contact us to make a claim on your behalf. Thank god I don't have to use a CPAP machine

Having trialled a CPAP machine, I was delighted to hear from my dentist that he had an alternative for my sleep apnoea.
My husband and sleep apnoea tracker tell me I'm no longer snoring and I have less than 5 apnoeas a night.
I am delighted.
I also thought it would be uncomfortable, but I sleep easily.

I love my device

I love my device. It fitted well from the beginning. I did have pain in my jaw for a week or so. With advice from my dentist, I persisted and the pain disappeared.
The device is SO MUCH BETTER than using a sleep apnea machine. I sleep much better. It is so portable.

There used to be a local dentist that…

There used to be a local dentist that assisted me but he sold his business. Now I have to drive around an hour away. Somnomed breaks (cracks or chips with use). If anything breaks it must be brought to the specialist and can’t be mailed to the company directly (even if you have recent molds) which results in too much traveling and waiting - no back ups.

Not for me

The device was developed by way of a 3d scan and not a bite impression. I do not feel it has fitted me properly since the beginning. Having returned to my local dentist twice and specialist dentist twice it is still uncomfortable. My clenching got worse, I developed tinnitus and had cut marks/ grooves on my teeth. No more than 5 broken hours sleep a night. I persisted for 7 months. I wanted to like this product but the experience has not been helpful for me.

The device has helped improve my sleep…

The device has helped improve my sleep pattern. I liked that it is lot less intrusive and cumbersome than some other devices. For full disclosure, I haven't tried any other solutions.
Now that I have been using it regularly for a few months I can say that while it has alleviated my tiredness, it isn't a silver bullet, or cure all.
It has had one other positive effect, it is stopping the damage of me grinding my teeth in my sleep.

I sleep well with the Somnomed in

I sleep soundly with the Somnomed in. It’s not uncomfortable and you soon get used to it. Apparently I hardly ever snore or have apnoea now which suits both me and my husband! An interesting beneficial side effect is a reduction in my nocturia. I’ve recently had a flu-like chesty cough and I couldn’t use it for a few nights because of coughing episodes.

It helped me.

Response time was really bad

Response time was really bad. The doctor I work with said he reached out to Somnomed multiple times with no response to be able to get assistance. He said he has worked with Somnomed in the past.

My oral appliance and BiPAP eliminated my sleep apnea

I was informed by my wife that I had sleep apnea. Three independent sleep studies confirmed that I do have chronic, obstructive sleep apnea. I was prescribed an oral appliance and BiPAP machine, which together, eliminated my sleep apnea. I therefore highly recommend that if you have ANY doubts about whether you have sleep apnea, please get a sleep study done. It could save your life!

Please don't get me wrong.
I Love my SomnoMed appliance
But the bands started wearing out, and I couldn't get replacement bands, without starting at square one.
