A CLEAN BI-PAP can prevent sleep apnea

Ever since using my oral appliance and BiPAP, my sleep apnea has SIGNIFICANTLY improved. I keep my oral appliance clean with Somnomed tablets, which work great!

Good start, but downhill since

After I first started using my appliance, it worked amazingly well, reducing my drops immediately. However, more recently, my sleep score has been decreasing and the amount of time I spend under 90% O2 saturation is increasing. I haven't gained any weight or changed anything else, so my doc referred me to a sleep specialist for a sleep study. We'll see what that shows, if anything.

The mouth piece started out great

The mouth piece started out great, then it started making my jaw hurt and make my bite out of Alignment. So I quite using it.

Im super bummed

Im super bummed , I spent 3,000.00 & only used it 1 night & my 02 ring went off all night long!!!! My oxygen dropped too much all night:( So I’m definitely NOT a good candidate for this appliance sadly 😫

Painful

Somnomed squeezed my teeth to the point that it was too painful to wear. The dentist (that the somnomed rep sent me to) tried drilling it out to loosen the fit, but it still was too painful. Now I'm back to trying different CPAP masks again and the memory foam f20 full face mask is so comfortable.

Somnomed oral appliance not effective for Severe OSA!

I feel that Somnomed oral appliance advertising is misleading. It implies the appliance may be effective for severe OSA when in practice it is not effective. Further, it does not provide additional information on potential side effects such as teeth sensitivity, bridge damage risk, difficulty removing appliance, and hinges poking inner cheeks discomfort. Had I known up front more information on side effects I would not have purchased the appliance.

SomnoMed devices are indicated and prescribed for the treatment of mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, in accordance with your provider’s clinical evaluation. Treatment methods for severe OSA requires evaluation by a qualified sleep specialist to determine the most appropriate treatment option.

As with any therapy, side effects may vary by individual, which is why we encourage close collaboration with a qualified provider to review all potential risks, benefits, and ongoing care.

Sleep quality is night and day (pun intended) after getting my mouth guard

I almost never write reviews, but after years of waking up with headaches and migraines, and in recent years fatigue after sleeping, SomnoMed's mouth guards has more or less made all of that a thing of the past!!

Yes, it takes a while to adjust. And you must work with your dentist; when I received my mouth guard at first, it was hurting one of my teeth so bad that I could not wear it. But my dentist adjusted the fit around that tooth and it's been smooth sailing since then.

It makes sense it might not work out for everybody (though do not give up too early!), but for those of us it does, I don't think I am exaggerating when I say this is a life saver!

Took a bit to get used to

Took a bit to get used to it has improved snoring according to snorelab but still some snoring i have adjusted it maybe need more not sure how far I can adjust it

I persevere despite having problems…

I persevered despite having problems with it. It wakes me due to the pain of aching teeth, or because I’m drooling as I cant close my lips around it. It also loosened my crowns which cost me a lot to have replaced. And worst of all sleeping with my mouth open hurts my throat and lead to fluid on lungs which I’ve had now for 3 months. I have been seeing a GP for support.

But a c-pap machine won’t help me, so this is my only alternative. I’ll give it another 3 months.

Significantly Reduced Snoring

My snoring has reduced from 24 to 2 (as measured by the SleepLab app). Daytime sleepiness has declined. Comfort of the device is a minor issue but I am becoming accustomed to it.

I was skeptical at first

I was skeptical at first, so many ads for mouth guards. Wife was more upset and I was loosing too much sleep. Did a OSA test and was not bad so so didn’t need a machine. Tried the mouth guard and it was uncomfortable for a few days, but still had snoring issues, set another band and was uncomfortable again but got use to it. So far it’s working well, had a band break and contacted support, they quickly sent a 8 bands for the one I broke so really happy over it. Just have to be sure to clean it else it’s smells bad. It’s small and portable so I can take it camping or pack it up on a flight too. Not sure if it helps me sleep but my wife was very happy now

Fail

The device is too tight on my teeth, and creates pain in both my teeth and my jaws while I wear it. It gives me headaches and I actually can’t get to sleep with it. For something that’s supposed to help you sleep, it does the complete opposite and is a complete failure. Never mind the pain while wearing it, my jaw is sore afterwards and clicks badly. The worst part is I now have an expensive piece of plastic that can’t be re-sold. I’ve given up on it and gone to CPAP, which has taken some getting used to but at least is never painful. I should have tried CPAP first I guess.

Échec total

Échec total, l orthèse a provoqué des douleurs mandibulaires insupportables. Impossible de mordre, mes molaires ne se touchaient plus d un seul côté et cela durait plusieurs heures avant de revenir à peu près à la normale. J'ai dû aller 3 fois chez un ostéopathe pour rééquilibrer la mâchoire. Ayant repris rdv avec l Orl en présence des représentants de Somnomed, je n'ai reçu aucune écoute, pas de recherche de solution. A aucun moment leur orthese n a été remise en question, pas question de penser que peut-être elle a un défaut d'équilibrage puisque la douleur n'est que d un côté. Pour eux tout est normal, inutile de leur faire perdre leur temps. Merci madame et au revoir

De eerste maanden werkte de beugel goed na 6 maanden begon ik weer te snurken onderste deel was gescheurd laten maken en merkte dat de beugel niet meer goed werkt door droge keel en weer 4 maanden later is hij weer gescheurd op de zelfde plek kostbare beugel die eigenlijk niet werkt

Total Convert

I was very skeptical about this device when it was suggested to me after trialling a CPAP for two months with no improvement. BUT what a difference it has made to my life. My husband can't get over the difference in my breathing and I feel so great!
