The SSE advisor I spoke to today was called Nicholas Muller. he was incredibly patient and helped me to review 7 of our accounts and we were able to move credits between these accounts seamlessly, it took some investigation work as payments were misallocated to different accounts but that is our fault as we do not make separate payments so the whole amount goes into one of the 7 accounts and Nicholas was extremely helpful to resolve the issue for me.

DONT USE THEM!! They literally don't care
I was on hold for 14 (FOURTEEN) minutes - during that time they played the same 3 bars from the same piece of music on repeat. This actually could be classes as torture!
Finally the call was answered and because (for some reason) my name isn't the one registered on the account they asked me to email them. I did this twice and they say they haven't received it. I am now 35 minutes of my life lost. I understand the need for security but this is just 'jobs worth' They don't care that i have every conceivable invoice number, mpan number, identifier number, bill amounts all that i could give to pass security. Talk about working against clients not with. RUN AWAY FAST!

I've been living in my current house in Lancaster since 1992, 33 years. I've never had an account with SSE but that doesn't stop them sending letters to this address, addressed to the North Lancashire Methodist Circuit. Three last week and one this week, so far.
I've lost count of how many, probably hundreds. I've returned all of them to the return address on the letter. I've emailed them in the past. I've spoken on the telephone to a representative. I've spoken to a representative at the North Lancashire Methodist Circuit but no matter what I do they keep sending me those letters.
I'm calling them again today. Apparently I've got through to the wrong department, which they say is my fault because I pressed the wrong button. I explained that there was no option for "Stop sending me letters" or indeed "Anything else not covered by the menu options". I've been on hold now for 10 minutes whilst they find a department!
I've not been opening their letters to the North Lancashire Methodist Circuit but I will from now on. Then I'll make a complaint to the Information Commissioners Office about a data breach. Perhaps they consider getting their act together then.
Of course, I could just throw the letters away but I'm trying to be a good citizen and I'm sick to death of corporate incompetence so this winds me up a bit. If we don't call them out the corporates will continue to do their own thing and not consider the implications for the people that they are meant to serve.
May your god help you if you're with SSE and have a problem. If they can't sort this minor issue then you've a cat in hells chance that they can sort yours.
I've just managed to speak to somebody at SSE (after 33 minutes) who has said she will report it as a data breach and it will stop. She sounded competent and was helpful. We'll see what happens.

SSE were extremely helpful in resolving an issue with an over estimated bill. The advisor I had a long conversation with was called Obinna Nwokedi. He was so pleasant and resolved the issue for me. I wish all other suppliers had people like this working for them and it was nice to actually speak with somebody rather than having to use one of these stupid 'Chat Box'

I phoned customer services this morning to query a very high bill that had been based on estimated readings rather than the actual readings from our smart meter. The person I spoke to, Abisola George, understood my concern, investigated and addressed every aspect of the issue and resolved it straight away. I should soon receive an amended bill and future bills will be based on smart meter readings, not estimates. Abisola was patient, courteous, diligent and apologised for the error that had caused the problem. Thank you and well done!

Their system says I am in contract ... turns out I am not. This has prevented me from obtaining better quotes for the last year or so; it was only discovered by accident.
Also, if your invoice has been generated, but not due yet in terms of the direct debit collection date, the sales team will not talk about new tariffs until the direct debit has gone and is clear! What a policy that just pushes existing customers away!
So they have had me believe that I am still in contract, they have enjoyed obscene rates in the meantime £2.91 daily charge !), and then they make it equally hard for you to negotiate a fairer deal, of which I am entitled to do !! Consumer rights issue in my opinion !!
My direct debits have always been collected on time with this company, I have no bad record in terms of payments.

You keep sending me txt messages for outstanding invoices but i have no invoices
You have send two invoices last week for £6937 and £4276 which you have not updated the bills would normally be around £700 each .
your new billing system is shambolic and you cant take readings from second generation smart meters,
As i am writing this review you have sent a txt message on ac 8700291772 for £240.46 i have no invoice for this .
I went to the ombudsman last April 2024 forcing you to update my old smart meters it took you 1 year to do this and you still have one to replace .
They also told you to give me correct bills
You do not listen to anybody
i am still waiting for a gas bill for one ac 8700195257 its been 6 months you keep say meter not working bare in mind its a new smart meter.
just to remind you my contract ends 31 july 2025
You need to sort out all these problems
As you are aware you have overcharged me on various bills sent debt letters out when not updating bills
Please avoid this company

Since over 15 months ago we moved from premise ,SSE sent a bill for £400 with saying it’s your final bill.Our first final bill was £0,plus they give a refund of £80 and then 15 months later they sent another Final bill with saying it’s correct final bill for £400.
How can this be?
AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!

I’ve dealt with a lot of companies in my life, this company has to be the worst one by far, if you wish to deal with a company that is so incompetent and amateur this is the company for you, it seems to be run by chimps. Spoke with customer services advisor Sab Boparan who excelled and way above and beyond her role to help solve an account problem which I had been trying to do for over 5 months. She managed to sort everything out and has given me confidence that our account has now been corrected. Cannot thank her enough !

They are just criminals!!! Disgusting criminals!
Fake bill, lied to time after time, sabotaged my account — removing account holder names, ignoring the Ombudsman and their rulings.
A further complaint has been raised with the Ombudsman about their complaints department doing nothing.
We’ve been locked into a contract for years and forced onto high rates, which we cannot escape as they just hang up.
We also cannot switch providers due to the ongoing case.
They are just criminals!!! Avoid at all costs!!

I called up today to see customer service and spoke to the guy called Ryan wilson who helped me with every question,took time to listen and understand me and sorted all my queries in such a brilliant way.This guy is a star and would recommend his managers to promote him.Ryan thanks once again for an amazing customer service,all the best im sure you will be very successful.

SSE are absolutely useless and have no understanding of how their supply serves communal areas in blocks of flats and how to deal with the managing agents of those blocks. A recent system upgrade has added even more insult to their service. I called again today to resolve an issue that has been haunting a building I manage for 3 years. Having recently taken over I'm trying to resolve the matter. The first lady had no idea and was following a script. She didn't have the ability to communicate outside of her check list. So why the 5* review? I then called back to punish myself further and was helped by a customer service advisor called Ariba Shaikh. Ariba, was an absolute delight she spent 1.5 hours on the phone with me and broke down my issues into 3 clear issues and worked to resolve each one. We have 3 meters serving one lift, smart meters not working and billing issues. Each item with a plan of action to resolve. People have lost the ability to deal and speak with people. Ariba is an asset to you. I do hope you record calls for training purposes. I would circulate that call to all your advisors.

Sent me multiple incorrect bills which they refused to correct (after I waited months for any response) so had to go to the Ombudsman to get it sorted. After the ruling to say that the bills were incorrect and should be fixed, instead of correcting them fully, SSE escalated the incorrect bills to a debt collection agency.

Cold called by a ‘Matthew’ about switching to SSE, allowed the call to go on and was polite throughout but when I made it clear I had no interest in switching he hung up straight away.

My last quarter bill of 2024 was incorrect, so when i callled they said they would reissue the bill and resend. By the end of Jan 2025 i still didn’t have a bill. So i called them and set up a payment plan which i paid the first payment then. End of Feb 2025 io received, the sit quarter 2025 bill which included the last quarter of 2024, plus the payment plan. They took just under £25,000 from my account and said i still needed to pay £9,000?????
I have complained since then this is still not been sorted out and i have received the 2nd quarter bill with £ 55,000 to pay. My question is not this incompetent people who seem not to be able to do simple tasks is how can i use in 1 quarter the electricity i use in one & a half years, this is nonsensical and pathetic.
I have no words running a small business in this day and age is hard enough, without all the added stress of these clowns.
Know i will get the usual reply from someone sat behind a computer ticking boxes with there standard reply. A complete joke of a company, without customer service skills to match.

Cold call advising only need 30 seconds of your time. As an existing customer I allowed the call to go ahead. Some speel about prices coming down and an deal for weekends was mentioned and when I advised I was an existing customer the call was immediately terminated. Unable to raise a complaint as their email address advertised does not exist, call menus leave n option to speak to anyone or raise a complaint. If the intention was to secure new business, then I'm afraid you have only managed to lose business. Poor service - further training required.
