Very quick and efficient

My electricity meter gave a pop this morning and i lost all power.I phoned 105 and the lady on the phone (sorry, can't remember her name) was extremely polite and helpful promising me an engineer...who arrived in 20 minutes. He fixed the problem but said i needed a new unit and he'd send a repair team...who turned up within the hour, replaced my electricity unit quickly and cleanly. I'm very impressed,thank you very much

Pretty Impressive

Phoned 105 last night regarding a power cut which had affected my property and about three adjacent ones. Got through to Sandy who was very friendly and professional. She promised to keep me updated and made sure that I had no special needs and ensured to keep me updated on a fix. After an hour I was phoned by Gavin who updated me and checked that I had no further issues. He confirmed that a van was en route to the nearby substation and shortly afterwards the power was restored. Later Sandy phoned once more and advised that apparently a fuse had blown and again checked that everything was OK.
The next morning I was called again and advised that power would go off for a short time while the crew outside repaired what had blown the fuse. This power cut lasted only a short period while the fix took place.
Absolutely first class from customer service and work crews. Restored my faith in large companies. Well done Scottish and Southern.

Unacceptable experience

Last summer, during a very long hot and dry spell, SSEN employed a contractor to excavate a trench one metre away from our external boundary, single skin, brick wall. During the course of backfilling the trench, we witnessed the digger operator banging the digger bucket against our brick wall and dragging it along the bottom, in order to scoop up the excavated soil that had been piled up against our wall. We witnessed our wall wobble under impact.

Although it was us that rushed round to stop him using any further force, the digger operator has denied hitting the wall. The project manager from the contractor came round the same day and he told us that he had personally risk assessed all the walls and that prior to them starting the works, he could hold our wall at the top and move / shake it!

If this were the case, no precautionary measures were employed prior to work commencing, nor were we informed that digging a trench that close to our wall could have a negative impact on the structure.

Nearly eight months after this incident we are still trying to get SSEN to rectify the damage their contractor has caused. Meanwhile the contractor continues to shirk responsibility and have, on more than one occasion fabricated reasons as to why they are not responsible.

Our garden wall has been left leaning towards a public highway for 8 months while SSEN appear to be happy to continue to allow their approved contractor to fabricate lies about why they are not responsible for the damage.

8months ago, we witnessed their operative banging his digger bucket into our wall.

8 months ago, two senior members from SSEN visited site and agreed the contractor had hit our garden wall with the digger and that it was unstable.

8 months our wall has been leaning towards a grass verge used by the public. Safe? Maybe? Maybe not?

Apparently it was our responsibility and at our expense, to provide an independent Structural Engineers report in order to ‘prove’ the injustice we have alleged.

We are left with the possibility of a bill for thousands of pounds to repair our wall or paying a solicitor thousands in order to bring this big corporation to justice.

Caring contractor...we think not!

Beware SSEN working near your property...this could happen to anyone...you have been warned!

Had a bit of a complicated request but she was very professional and exceeded customer service far from what could or should have been expected. WOW!! What a great service.

WOW! Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks could teach many big companies _ie BT...- a thing or too about customer service! Whoever set up their system deserves a knighthood.... no matter who your energy supplier is these are the people looking after the power lines, etc... the ones who can tell you about powercuts - ring 105 and they tell you how many people are affected, what they think has caused it and the names of the people trying to fix it for you. They check that you are OK and neither you, or anyone else in the house, need help due to the power cut. They will generally follow up with a call or text to let you know when the power will be back. Due to line damage we had to have some work done locally today - last week we had a letter explaining what they were doing, warning that there would be two temporary power interruptions (neither was more than 5-10 minutes) and followed up with a recorded message on the phone yesterday as a reminder. If only more companies operated this way there would be so many more happy people and a lot more lovely reviews rather than moany ones (and, yes, I am prone to leaving those when called for too!)
