Good customer service
I ordered a gift box with vouchers as a Christmas gift. The box arrived swiftly (as expected, as they use DPD, which is one of the very few reliable couriers in my long experience). I had a few questions about the voucher and was responded to very quickly and my queries were well answered .
I also noticed they'd sent the plain gift box and not included the festive Xmas box cover. This was not very important, but I mentioned it at the end of my query email, and they immediately sent out a special delivery of the missing xmas cover and sincerely apologised for the omittion, ( I told them not to bother, but they did and I appreciate it). So excellent customer service. I'm very sure the recipient will love her gift.

Extremely difficult
Found the recipe hard to follow and the end product wasn’t even that tasty. Thought the whole point of cook away was that cooking is easier but buying my own products and following my own recipe is far easier.

We do appreciate it takes time to cook our menus, but our recipes are designed to be an exciting cooking experience. The Crispy Chilli Beef menu that you choose is one of our best selling menus and has been developed by MasterChef Champion, Ping Coombes. It does however, require some specific prep to ensure the texture and flavours are exactly how you would experience in Malaysia.

Mexican cuisine joins the Cookaway menus
I have been a fan of the Cookaway menu boxes for some years and was overjoyed when they added a new cuisine to their range.
I attended a Mexican masterclass with chef Karla Zazuta and so was with delight that I could try out some new Mexican recipies.
I cooked the steak, chicken and chorizo tacos with sides of pickled onions, guacamole, refried beans and salsa taquera. The ensemble was delicious and easy to create -definitely recommend and I will be trying out the other Mexican menus soon!

Cooking instruction confusing & expensive
The food turned out delicious, however,
1 - Cooking instructions confusing. Need to read the recipe to know how each ingredient needs to be prepared. To many separate bits of paper.
2 - Too expensive for what it is.

Excellent flavours
Tried the new Mexican menu and it did not disappoint.
The flavours of the corn tortilla toppings were amazing -the chorizo and potato was my favourite, but the subtle flavours of the marinaded chicken and the steak were also excellent.

I loved this recipe box. It was so easy to make but had an impressive three courses, all so tasty. I'm converted, I had never heard of cookaway before but I'm going to order more, all the recipes on the website look so good!

Hard to follow, expensive
We ordered 2 meals - and didn't enjoy either particularly. They were also a LOT harder to cook than the instructions led us to beleive. One in particular took about 3 times as long to cook! The instructions between the different recepies and how to split the ingredients were not easy to follow. I found the whole thing quite stressful and I'm a decent cook! Also the packaging was insane.... for one dish I was left with a mountain of plastic! Expensive and not a great experience. Wouldn't recommend or buy again.

Hi Nicola - Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your Cookaway experience. We pride ourselves on being the Lego of Cooking making it easy and fun for our customers to create complex world food recipes at home.
In both your menus, there should've been a cooking guide to navigate through the recipes and cook the menu seamlessly. Also, while we try and separate ingredients, sometimes it's more efficient to combine certain items such as oils and pastes even if they are being used across multiple recipes.
Re packaging, we don't use any single use plastic and on average 95% of our packaging is paper or glass based. We have to make sure that the ingredients arrive safely and as fresh as possible so this requires some protection around any breakable materials and a chilled bag with gel packs for the chilled items.

Fabulous food
This was received as a gift and what a lovely gift it was.
The instructions and ingredients were excellent and the finished product tasted fantastic. There is a fair anount of choice as a vegetarian so was quite happy with that. The only mark down was due to the price. £45 for paella with delivery for 2 is a lot of money and so I would not buy this for myself because of that. I cannot fault the food though.

I cooked beef wellington from cook away. I’m not a very experienced cook, and I have never made beef wellington before. It came out perfect. The ingredients provided were very high quality, and the meat was fantastic!

Food was great, instructions were clear and easy to understand. It was a shame that DPD failed to deliver on the day requested. Cookaway were helpful in resolving the issue and we got our delivery on our second choice of date
