I had the paella
I had the paella; overall the dish was tasty but some of the ingredients were not of good standard: the broad bean and the artichokes. I swapped the broad bean for a better brand one and I trimmed the artichoke as the tips and outer leaves were hard.

Great company. Ordering and delivery was really smooth. We had the Japanese taster box for 6-8. Fantastic quality ingredients and super clear instructions. Made the evening a real event.

Poor customer service - refusing to refund accidental purchase
I tried to order the new parent Cook gift card from the company Cook, using the search term 'cook voucher' so I could have a few freezer meals after having a baby. I accidentally landed on CookAaway via a sponsored Google advert by mistake. I proceed to order a £75 voucher (newborn exhaustion 🫠) and literally just as I pressed pay realised I wasn't on the right website. I immediately (moments after purchase) emailed the company to explain I had ordered the voucher by mistake and could I have a refund but they came back the following day to say they could not process a refund as gift cards are non refundable and 'thanks for understanding'. We have had back and forth since and whilst ultimately I did buy the voucher, I did not mean too (I could cry at the idea of meal prepping a recipe box after giving birth), I do not want it and I immediately tried to rectify the error to be met with a really unhelpful service. I am now down £75 which is a significant cost for me. I feel most decent companies would have just have deactivated the voucher and refunded the money with no harm done. I have never left a poor review for any company before and the fact I am bothering to do one really does reflect how poor I think this is!

Just to reiterate again, I messaged you about 4 seconds after I made the mistaken purchase to ask for my money back. You absolutely are covered by your Ts&Cs for your gift card - it is non refundable...I didn't mean to buy it...I bought it via an advert which made me think I was purchasing from another brand and immediately tried to get my money back. I believe most decent brands would have tried to help in this situation regardless of Ts&Cs to be honest as a gesture of goodwill. I really don't see how just helping me rectify the issue would have been anything other than the decent thing to do.
I am entitled to try and get my money back. Your language around suggesting I am 'unfair to a family business/small brand
' by stating I want to seek input about whether I can get a refund based on the evidence I provided to show the purchase was a mistake and was influenced by a pay per click advert is really odd and defensive. You have been very clear you don't think there is an issue here so it should be absolutely no bother to you if I seek advise to see if I could get my money back...which I am sure you are right you are covered by your Ts&Cs so I probably won't be able too. I am also entitled to leave a review based on my experience with your company.
I won't be using or regifting the voucher, thank you. Enjoy my £75 - thanks for all your help

As explained on email (+ shared screenshots), our terms are clearly stated on our website even before you make a purchase, both on our gift voucher page and on the gift voucher section on our gifting page. Also in our terms, under the discount codes and gift cards section, we clearly highlight that any issued gift cards cannot be exchanged or refunded.
You continue to insist that we are bidding on Cook's brand terms despite us confirming that we do not bid on the brand terms of any other brand except our own. In fact several brands in our industry bid on our brand terms which is a perfectly legitimate activity. The sponsored ad you would've clicked on is automatically shown by Google on searches that are relevant in the category – we don’t control or influence this in any way.
There is no misleading behaviour on our part or any attempt to redirect traffic searching for other brands to our site. We’ve made full upfront disclosure that our gift cards are non-refundable and have complied with the law and common practices for gift cards. Even John Lewis clearly states that issued gift cards cannot be refunded so we feel its unfair to target a small brand with threats of reporting us to the Advertising Standards Agency and Google and leaving a 1 star review when we've been completely transparent and open with you.
Our gift cards are valid for 12 months and we hope you can you use this to gift some delicious meals to friends and family if you're unable to use it yourself. You will see from our (over 1,500) five-star reviews, how much our customers love and enjoy our immersive world food offering guaranteed to transport you around the world from your kitchen!

Food was delivered and packed with care ensuring all the goods were kept cool and fresh. Excellent quality. Everything included that we needed for our meal. Delicious recipe and enjoyed enormously. Main issue was my chicken went off after 2 days - probably needed cooked straight away. Easily replaced.

The whole experience was fantastic
The whole experience was fantastic! From the way the food was packaged, to listening to the personalised playlist, to how easy the instructions were to follow. Me and my boyfriend cooked this together as a date night and it was so much fun!

Authentic taste
We loved the authentic taste of one of our all time favourites, chicken souvlaki. My daughter and I had fun making it while listening to the playlist. The portions were very generous, the ingredients were so fresh and the instructions were clear. As a result we were able to prepare and serve a fantastic Greek dinner that tasted just like it does on a Greek holiday.
This is my second Cookaway box and they have both been fabulous. I will definitely buy again and will thoroughly recommend.

Everything went perfect with this
The entire process was so amazing. Ordered Spanish chicken paella, I loved how they had the entire checklist with even a small ingredient like salt and turmeric also provided.
This made it very easy to follow all the recipe cards without any stress. The delivery was also timely and everything including the chicken and vegetables were fresh.

Absolutely stunning experience. All food was delivered chilled and on the arrival day I requested. We made the beef wellington with all the trimmings and it was simply delicious. 5* quality food, all fresh, step by step instructions. Would be a great gift for someone to.
