I’ve tried other meditation techniques…
I’ve tried other meditation techniques throughout my life, like mindfulness, body scanning, focusing on the breath, etc. I’ve even read a book on it and tried that for three months, but I couldn’t make any of those techniques stick long enough to become the lifelong habit that I was hoping for. Perhaps those work for other people. I guess they must do but not me. I’d heard about TM and it sounded interesting but it wasn’t until a friend recommended it that I decided to give it a try. I’m 51, have moderate ADHD, my marriage is falling apart, my daughter is headed to high school and naturally pulling away so I’ve been feeling very alone and lost recently. I was searching for something beyond the antidepressant medicine that a doctor prescribed for me a few months ago. After completing the TM course and practicing TM twice a day for the past 10 days, I can honestly say I have finally found the right technique for me. Everyone is different, so who knows if it would work for you but if you are like me and like most people in the world, constantly busy, constantly trying to survive (and hopefully thrive) in this crazy modern world of ours then TM could well be as life-changing for you as it has been for me.
The number one thing I want to say about it is it’s easy. It’s easier than anything I’ve ever done. It’s easier than I could ever have imagined it would be, based on my past experiences of meditation. It takes no effort. In fact, one of the standout phrases that is repeated a few times during the course is “Effort is forbidden”. I love that! That suits me perfectly because if any effort was involved, it would probably fall by the way side given time because I’m already trying so hard in so many other areas of my life. One more thing to try hard at just feels too much right now. TM is the opposite of that. It’s hard to explain, you just have to try it for yourself and you’ll realize it’s the easiest thing in the world which is amazing because it’s affects are so profound. I started feeling better just after one meditation. I’ve now done more than 20 and I feel so much calmer, more confident, more able to face the challenges of the day. I’ve stopped taking my antidepressant meds because I honestly don’t feel I need them anymore. They are just a mask. They weren’t solving anything for me. Of course I’m not recommending anyone else do that without medical advice, but for me, TM is doing the job that I hoped my meds would do x100. I’m happier, clearer, less muddled and for an ADHD brain that is revolutionary.
The TM organization offers a money back guarantee so there’s no reason not to try it. It’s also the most peer-reviewed studied meditation technique on the planet. So for someone like me who is skeptical about woo woo things it’s great! You can read the research, see the data for yourself, learn why it works. This stuff has been studied by some of the smartest brains around: from MIT, from Stanford… one of the main guys running it is a quantum physicist. Another one is a neuroscientist. There are lots of medical doctors who do this so if you have any thoughts about it like, “It’s just for celebrities it’s just for rich people, there’s lots of other stuff I can do for free”, yes that’s true to a certain extent, but TM is still worth exploring as a possible option for you because it might be just as life-changing for you as it has been for me. And once you’ve experienced it, you want everyone else in the world to experience the same thing! It’s not a religion. It’s not a cult. It’s an ancient technique that has been around for thousands and thousands of years and just in the last 70 years or so it’s been revealed to the Western world. And thank goodness for that because it’s a really powerful tool that the world needs. It’s a gift!
So give it a try. If it doesn’t work for you, you haven’t lost anything, but there’s a very high chance it will work for you. I can say that with confidence. You can go in their skeptical and it will still work for you. Take it from a skeptic give it a try. I wish you peace, love, and happiness.
The teacher and teaching excellent
The teaching was clear, directed, gentle and supportive. I could easily apply what I learnt.
The app is horrible and TM is meh
The app is horrible. I do not want to hear lectures from that man if I had known that I would not have signed up. The fact that you don't allow the user to speed up the video is infuriating. The fact that you asked many questions and provide only two possible answers when I think there should be other answers available is pretty frustrating too. It was slow and not very helpful and pedantic. And then the instruction I found not very good I was confused. I am coming from vipassana and the instructions around the mantra made no sense to me. I do not understand why I would say a nonsense word and it was very murky and inconsistent like when I should say it. And saying over and over again telling me that it should be easy is besides the point that doesn't help. I would frequently be struggling with the core issue of how do I do this meditation what do I do when I notice I am thinking a thought and my instructor and the app would not have reliable advice or instruction. I thought these 30-minute check-ins were also a little insulting. All of those scripted portions just didn't work for me at all this level of instruction was so much worse than what I have received for less money from other lineages of meditation. So I'm very glad TM works for some people and that's great. But you should be ashamed at the amount of money you are charging for how bad this instruction is. Look around you at the rest of the apps and organizations that teach meditation. You need to do better.
Bad instructor and not worth the money
The instructor was not very good. Vague and rambling in her instruction. We watched videos on DVds and bse had trouble making them work. I left not knowing what the specific outcomes were for this course. It was overpriced for that.
Simple and effective
The TM technique makes regular meditation simple and effective. I'm appreciative of my instructor Irene Giangregorio's comprehensive, clear, and warm hearted introduction to me into the world of TM.

I’m feeling more awake but yet falling asleep easily. Feeling relaxed and also better focused on my daily tasks .

my expectations were not well placed. minimal or no expectations are best, reasons? never experienced the calming fulfilling this journey is becoming, I am happier having taken the first step of jumping in with no reservations, with an openness. This journey is fulfilling my spirit!!
TM is one of the best and most useful training courses I have ever taken

The TM app is intuitive and easy to use, and there is a wealth of additional material available when you complete the course. I enjoy the daily group meditations offered by Bob Roth - also very well done! After only two weeks I have noticed an improvement in my mental clarity and improved relationships with others. I look forward to meditating every morning and afternoon.

The app sometimes hurts my eyes because there's no real dark-mode, but the practice is AMAZING! and should be taught to/practiced by everyone.
Learning TM through Masterful Teaching
