Een tuktuk voor 4 weken gehuurd bij dit bedrijf. Vanaf het eerste contact bij de interesse om te huren tot het inleveren van de tuktuk een geweldige ervaring met dit bedrijf. Ze reageren vrijwel direct op mails / whats app. Je kunt ze altijd bereiken. Ik zou zeggen niet verder kijken maar hier huren. Onderweg had ik 1 maal een reparatie. Ik werd perfect geholpen.

Fantastic experience, just do it.
Just got back from Sri Lanka, 11 days of it with a tuktuk. Loved the experience.
We’re a family of 4 with 2 young children and we all fit in there well (I’m 6ft 2in). I even had to do Ella-Yala and Yala- Mirissa with our 2 rucksacks and 4 day packs. This was tight but doable as my kids are only 7 and 8.
A few things to note though, although the main roads in SL are generally in great condition and not too busy, when you hit towns, it’s not for the faint hearted and you’ve gotta drive with confidence. I HATE the bus drivers! And you will too.
If like me you’ve no experience with motorbikes it took a couple of days to find my feet. It didn’t help that I started in the mountain roads of Ella. At first I thought I’d made a mistake renting it. A full tuktuk struggling up hill on a tight turn with a bus flying up behind you is a bum clenching moment!
Slight negative is I think the pickup and drop off fees are excessive, it cost in the region of $45 to pickup in Ella…they have a depot there, so why? And it cost around $89 to drop off in Mirissa, where they had a bloke I’d met before from a local garage pick it up as they’ve got relationships around the country. I don’t mind paying a bit extra for this but imo at the very most those fees should be half what they are. They definitely are not having to get them each time and drive them back to Negombo HQ. That’s the only reason for 4 not 5 stars.
I do like the company though and their ethos. Super friendly (standard in Sri Lanka) and very good communication when I had a minor issue with the tuktuk (knocked the back window out with my luggage🙈).
They talk a lot about looking after the local people and paying fairly, which I don’t doubt but saying how exactly and who actually owns your tuktuk etc would appeal to conscientious travellers.
Overall I would highly recommend them and would definitely do it all again!

Exceptional customer service
I can truly say our experience with tuk tuk rental was top drawer!
The pre trip communication was informative with a relaxed tone, the 'driving test' was thorough and professional and the after service above and beyond. We left some belongings in the tuk tuk( I know!) and they went out of their way to get several shipping quotations before sending back to me ( special shout out to Darren for all the time he invested).
The tuk tuks themselves were spotless and certainly were a major highlight of our holiday. Thanks so much and please keep up the great customer service!

Wat een ervaring. Wij hebben in 3 weken 1150 km afgelegd in de tuktuk. Fantastisch onderhouden en nagekeken voordat je deze meekrijgt. Super en betrouwbaar personeel en bedrijf. Ik kan alleen maar bedenken dat de paar minder positieve berichten niet bij dit bedrijf thuishoren. Er zijn meerdere bedrijven met hetzelfde concept, maar deze is echt de beste! Nederlandse en Australische ondernemer en dat is terug te zien in de bedrijfsvoering. Alles tot in de puntjes verzorgd. Alles zeer punctueel. Na een dag een telefoontje of de tuktuk bevalt en of er vragen zijn. Noodnummer via telefoon op whatsapp. Rijbewijs keurig geregeld, duidelijke instructies. Fantastische instructeur Yaseer.
Geweldige ervaring. Zijn zeker van plan om in de toekomst terug te komen naar dit prachtige land en dan weer een tuktuk te huren.
Geweldig dat de locals geholpen worden met het verhuren van hun eigen tuktuk.

NEVER USE THEIR SERVICE
MALFUNCTIONING TUKTUKS AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
My friend and I were very excited to drive a tuktuk through Sri Lanka. However, we tried four (!) tuktuks all with severe malfunctions.
After thinking we got a functioning one, they left us (two females) on the side of the road with a malfunctioning tuktuk. We had lost all our faith in enjoying driving a tuktuk in Sri Lanka. Customer service offered us a 100% refund with management approval within two weeks. However, now that we are back home they are not willing to pay the promised refund, deducing costs.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I want to sincerely apologize for the issues you faced during your tuktuk rental experience with us. We have taken them as serious lessons to be learnt and we have addressed the same with you and did have correspondence on the matter.
(I am updating this review here for the befit of those reading to understand that steps were taken to rectify and fix the matter).
We understand the frustration of dealing with vehicle malfunctions, and I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience this caused, especially given that you were excited to explore Sri Lanka by tuktuk. As you mentioned, our customer service team did promise a full refund, and I regret that there was confusion with our finance team. They mistakenly deducted costs related to licenses, which should not have happened. I'm happy to confirm that this issue has now been fully rectified, and your full refund has been processed as initially agreed. The receipt confirming this was shared with you via Email dated: 15 MAY 2024
Regarding the situation where you had to wait on the road - I’d like to give it a bit more context as the wording on your review sounds bit like we ditched you and your friend. But what happened was that the tuktuk broke down and you were unable/unwilling to troubleshoot the issue hence we had to promptly arrange a team member. Nonetheless we understand how this could have been distressing.
However, we would like to clarify that our team did arrive on-site, albeit later than expected. We have since taken steps to improve response times in similar situations and have held our staff accountable for this delay. Unfortunately, this even led to the termination of the team member involved, a decision we did not take lightly but deemed necessary to uphold our service standards.
To ensure that no other customers face similar issues, we've implemented several improvements:
1. Vehicle Quality Control: We've hired a new full-time mechanic at our Ella office and initiated more rigorous vehicle inspections before each rental. These changes will significantly enhance the reliability of our fleet.
2. Finance Process Updates: Our finance and customer service teams now work closely to ensure that cases involving significant disruptions, such as yours, are flagged for direct attention to avoid any discrepancies during refund processing.
3. Staff Training: We have re-trained our driving instructors and customer service team to better understand and manage customer expectations. This includes maintaining a higher level of situational awareness, especially in urgent matters.
I would also like to mention that our Dutch-born director personally reached out to you via phone calls and email. He even tried contacting you during his trip to visit family in the Netherlands to offer a more direct resolution. Sadly, we were unable to connect with you at the time, but please know that our commitment to resolve this matter still stands.
Sophie, I completely understand how this experience left you disappointed. We’ve worked diligently over the past months to address every aspect of your concerns and have even extended a special future rental offer for you, which is not time-bound. We hope this shows our dedication to making things right.
If you’re open to discussing this further, I’d be more than happy to speak with you directly to explore how we can continue to work towards a satisfactory outcome. We are genuinely sorry for the inconvenience and remain committed to finding the best way forward.

We had a great experience with these guys!
We had a great experience with these guys. They organised everything and arranged to have our Tuk Tuk dropped to us up in the Tea Plantations. From there we travelled East and spent 20 days exploring the East and South of the Island.
Of course not everything went to plan, we had great help from Tuk Tuk Rentals and also the wonderful locals, wherever we went.
It was fabulous fun and we would do it all again and use these guys without a moments hesitation. We wish you well with your business here and expansion in to Thailand and cant wait to use you again in the future.

Amazing 600km adventure
This was our first time undertaking such an adventure. We were obviously a bit anxious as to how things would pan out. Please, please do not change anything.You have thought out the entire process minutely and have delivered a top class experience. Words here cannot do justice to the hassle free and safe adventure oppprtunity you offer in a country with such diversity as SL. Our advice to anyone thinking of such an adventure and having some doubts is to leave it all in the capable hands of this incredible team. They will not disappoint. Still waiting refund
We hired a tuk tuk which unfortunately had electrical issues which affected our road trip. Time was not a luxury and we lost a lot of time and opportunity to explore.
We were offered a 50% refund but have reviewed nothing , so we have raised a dispute with visa,do not trust that they will do right by you once they have your payment , for us they did not.

As you also mentioned in one of your emails "I was mostly happy with the service, however it fell short towards the end of the correspondence and in my view there were unnecessary delays in communication."
Thank you for your feedback and for maintaining genuine correspondence throughout, despite this issue taht existed. This gives us the opportunity to rectify the situation and improve our service.
Refund Clarification - I am putting this here for the benefit of those who would read this comment to also understand that despite the time spent in correspondence the team at tuktukrental.com did everything necessary to maintain the trust you held with us and ensured that your funds reached your bank.
(To clarify the issue I attached a couple of documents for your reference - and sent them via Email)
Rental Details: An image consisting of all rental details where I have highlighted your total rental amount.
Proof of Refund: A receipt showing the refund we initiated of $143.25 USD, for which you can use the Acquirer Reference Number (ARN) - 74201334019000000106827, which you can provide to your bank manager for tracking and tracing the refund as being initiated from our bank.
The $143.25 USD refund was processed based on the security deposit after deducting $6.75 USD for the fuel, which wasn't refilled during the return of the tuktuk.
Error in Refund Calculation
We made an error in processing the refund for 50% of your total rental fee. As per the attached rental bill, the total rental charge was $132 USD, and we should have refunded $66 USD. This was overlooked due to an internal system error in calculations, for which I sincerely apologize.
Resolution
To rectify this, we will:
Refund the remaining $66 USD.
Waive the fuel charge of $6.75 USD.
In total, we owe you an additional $72.75 USD. This refund was processed and shared with you.
THE EMAIL FROM YOU DATED 29 AUGUST CONFIRMED THAT THIS ISSUE WAS RESOLVED.
We also want to share that, This has been a learning for us and we have some improvements implemented
From the feedback and learning received from this experience, we have taken the following steps, to avoid such occurrences in the future:
Dedicated Customer Experience Team Member: We now ensure that each client concern is fully handled by one customer experience team member, rather than different people responding to a single customer on a particular matter.
Detailed Refund Notes Section: We have introduced a detailed refund notes section for every booking, which the customer experience team must update in the event of any refund agreements. This information is automatically communicated to the finance team when calculating the final refund. (Reducing manual calculation risks)
Issue Flagging System: When a refund bill is flagged with an issue, it remains active until the matter is fully resolved with the customer. The absence of this system led to the delay in resolving your case.

Hiring a tuk tuk was THE BEST decision I made. The ability to travel at your own pace, explore off the beaton track and really get to view the surroundings and wildlife as you travel really made it a special experience.
The tuktukrental.com team are phenominal to deal with from booking right through to drop off and the process is easy. When you pick up your tuk tuk you will get a briefing and a driving lesson which was greatly appreciated. Big shout out to Visalia who looked after me during the drop off process!
I did have one mechanical issue during the trip (these things happen) but the team were very responsive in getting a mechanic out to fix the problem quickly. They are available 24/7 which is a great comfort.
If you are considering ways to travel in Sri Lanka, I definitely recommend hiring a tuk tuk from these guys. Not only are they a great company to deal with, they are socially responsible and give back to the Sri Lankan communty which is a big plus for me.

It was sooooooo amazing with you!!! You made my trip so special and you guys are so well organized!!! The price was absolutely worth it, and I am so happy to chosen you!! I will definitely come to Sri Lanka again and do this all once again!! I am so glad you guys exist!❤️I was a female solo Traveller and I was scared to be all alone, driving the tuktuk by myself. Things turned out so positive, but also because of you guys! And please say thank you to my teacher, i think his name was Marvin?! Give him a hug!! He was awesome and I was able to drive the tuktuk without any problems within 30 minutes. ( considering, I haven’t drove a manual car over 10 years, never a motor bike and never been on the left side 😄)
