Useless, stupid organisation

Useless organisation. Lots of threatening emails, backed by an absolutely useless chatbot and no ability to talk to anyone about edge cases.

You can't issue legal threats if people can't then talk to you. Complete bunch of muppets.

Was sick to death of watching all the fake news, lies, and bull on the BBC.

Been without it for a few years now 👍

If i don't use the service then I'm not paying.

Laughably incompetent customer service

I confirmed I still don't need a TV licence online and received a confirmation email. Two weeks later I received an even more threateningly worded letter by post telling me my address is no longer covered, but with a different reference number. I emailed them to ask them to merge the records or explain why there were two. The first response was a copy and paste template message saying thank you for confirming you don't need a licence. I emailed again. Same reaponse. I also explained via the now obligatory feedback survey that they obviously hadn't read the email. I emailed again. Fourth email from them explained that the first reference number no longer worked so they had to issue a new one. So why did they send the original confirmation email after I renewed online, and why didn't they explain in the letter? Answer: because this is outsourced and offshored to Capita, always the sign of poor service. So the bottom line is, if you don't take this seriously, TVLicensing, how do you expect anyone else to?

Paid over the phone for tv licence on…

Paid over the phone for tv licence on behalf of my employer and to claim it back via expenses , requested receipt via email of payment and was told it would take 3 working days, nothing came, rang again and same conversation and checked correct email to be used. 7 days later nothing so rang again and was told we do not email receipts?? Asked why not and he explained the licence was proof of purchase but it would not have a vat receipts as there was no vat charged on a licence, explained I had nor received the licence so why can't I have a proof of purchase & how do I claim my money back, they could not give a s**t.

Missed one direct debit payment and now expected to pay a full license over 4 months when my license is due sept!

I cancelled my quarterly ddi in October and heard nothing.
Today I received a letter dated 17/11/25 telling me my license is moving from June to sept!
I go online to pay but instead of the licensing running as per the letter, I am expected to pay a full years tv licensing Dec/jan/feb/march 26 and from April every month from April!
I think tv licensing needs to get a grip of what they are trying to do as I’m not able to pay £179 over 4 months when I missed one payment due to unforeseen circumstances.
Complaint sent and wait!
The TV licensing were appalling with my elderly mum with dementia and hasn’t lived in her vacant property since Nov 2021! The threats were unbelievable

They cannot explain their fees!!

I just moved to the UK last year, and I started to arrange TV License payment, and now I have moved house and so I have to update details and I started to arrange monthly direct debit, and then I just realized they have charge me 4 times Dec, Jan, Feb and Mar each at $42.37 and now each month at $14.12 - so they have over charge me I assume? I searched for a long time how to contact them, and finally in touch with them over Complaint Section, they wrote back and said the fees is due to inflation, but they just cannot explain why they have debited me $284.12 in less than 12 months. Now they went silent on the email threads and I have to file the query all over again. This is madly frustrating and annoying.

On 13/10/25 got a claim that I don't need a licence for 2026, on 22/11 got a letter saying my claim expired. They do not update their database

On 13/10/25, I confirmed that I don't need a TV license and got a confirmation email from them.
Today, 22/11/25, I received a letter from TV licensing by post saying that my claim expired on 31/10/25 and demanding that I submit the info regarding my license.
My address has been the same since 2019.

This is a chronic mess, the same story happened last year.
Their customer database is obviously not properly updated and/or their customer service merely do not check the database before sending these letters.

I don't watch BBC, still asked to pay TV licence SCAM

I don't watch BBC or any of the live TV streams, only movies or sit-coms on Netflix, amazon or Disney, which I am paying for separately, I just don't understand why I need to pay every year on top of my chosen services an extra fee for the programs I don't want.

Disgusting harassing company

Disgusting harassing company. Non stop harassing me. They told me on the phone they can only stop contacting me for a year. Legally please note they do not have permission to gain access to your property so you can just tell them to f%#k off and be done with it.

TV licencing does not deserve to…

TV licencing does not deserve to operate and the licence fee should be scrapped. Given their support for paedophiles like Hew and the statue infront of their building and the latest splicing together of Trumps 'fight' fake news. I was right to cancel my licence. No longer could I cancel it online but had to listen and answer a number of questions. I was not allowed to have my comments noted as to why I was cancelling. I was informed more people are joining than leaving. A few weeks later some stranger stating he was from TV licencing is knocking at doors asking to come in and look at peoples TVs. I was not home but he is on my ring doorbell. I do hope he or anyone else does not trespass on my property again. Desperate times for TV licencing.

Vile company.
Send out stupid, harassing letters and emails suggesting recipients check they really don’t need a licence. If you answer the questions, it tells you you need a licence, even when you don’t. You only need a licence if you’re watching or recording *live* tv programmes, or watching iplayer.
Also send out harassing letters asking if watching live tv on non tv devices. They have no reason to ask that, unless ISPs are reporting that. ISPs should not be doing that.
Don’t open the door to tvlicensing, they have no right of entry unless they have a warrant.
Vile people. Trying to take advantage of people who may not be fully aware of their rights.
Plenty of information and help online, on channels TP won’t allow me to mention here.

A blatant scam. No TV In the house, don't consume live content on any of the listed TV channels or live content online. And still need to be bothered by this leeches? 424340448 this is the ref number I got last year and now seems that the same answers require now a TV license. Please shove it up yours. Thieves and scammers.

Diabolical service

I have always had a TV licence in my name, but after recently having a brain injury, I struggled with a lot of things so my partner took out a new TV licence in his name as I was struggling with my direct debits. I am now getting bombarded with emails and text messages telling me I will be prosecuted as I have no TV licence at my address Even though there is one at my address just not in my name. I cannot write to them as I have many difficulties after my brain injury, including not being able to write, I also use microphone to text and email as I cannot type either or read numbers. I can’t complain online as I can’t read the TV licence number so it won’t let me go any further. I have complained numerous times by email which have been ignored, I finally managed to contact them on the phone after several attempts and I was told to ignore the emails as it would only be for the next week due to the crossover in the changing of names but this has not happened and I am still getting emails and text messages telling me I am going to get prosecuted and enforcement officers will be visiting me even though there is a license at the address. They have no compassion whatsoever for my disabilities and my constant daily struggles and I have done nothing wrong apart from having a brain injury. This is causing me undue stress and anxiety and nobody can help me.

Tv liscense should be scrapped your paying for repeats. Poor tv. Programmes. Criminals. Such as peodafiles hew edwards. People who beat up there women him off the repair shop. Not to mention him off masterchef touching women up. Abosolute discrace and now the head of the bbc has resighned and the ceo. Everyone should refuse to pay this money to the tv licensing board and make a statement. That we are sick of being conned.

Rate would be zero if could leave that. Tried to cancel my license, have been put through to now 7 different departments, all claiming its not them and its someone else. After dragging out the call by making give my details each time, on a call that I'm being charged for by the way, I'm still on hold now to ANOTHER department. I've been on hold now for well over an hour.

The information on their website is incorrect, they tell you to cancel online, surprise, you can't. You have to call the number. When you do, they tell you its not them.

When you try to cancel online, it asks you if you're not watching tv anymore so you tick that you're not, then it auto populates with a date in 12 months that that you will watch tv again so they can prosecute you. You cannot delete this and you cannot complete the form.

Its a farce. I cannot believe they are genuinely this busy a month before Xmas, really, everyone else in the country is cancelling their TV licence a month before Xmas. Dreadful service, disgusting and totally useless.
