I joined on line to bid for a picture. Peter was a brilliant Auctioneer, he made it interesting and informative. I didn't feel intimidated as it was my first auction.I bid and won a picture from my list. It was easy to arrange to pay and pick up.
The receptionist was very good at her job and knew where I had travelled from.
She got someone to carry the picture to my car as it was quite heavy. Thankyou Wilson 55 and I would join another auction with you.

I've brought many paintings (Northern Art) from this auction house. The auctioneer, Stephen Sparrow is excellent. Fees are reasonable compared to many and they do not add additional charge for using their in-house bidding platform.

All round good experience and will return.
Downside, buyer’s premium far too much, like so many other auctions. Secondly, won’t accept traditional methods of payment but that’s good on my purse as I would love to acquire more!

The purchase was uneventful. I was supplied with the pictures requested. As I have been buying from Wilsons since 1988, they took a debit card over the phone which saved having to set the account up for wiring.

Easy process. Helpful staff. Good advice.

My online request for a condition check on a fragile art deco mirror was promptly answered and the detailed description, with extra photographs, was 100% accurate.
Illness prevented immediate collection but the auction house offered to store the mirror for a week or so which was excellent customer service.

I have been very impressed with wilson55. Liz Bailey the jewellery expert advised me on the sale of my items, and she made the whole process seamless. All I had to do was take a trip down to my local post office. From the photography to the cataloguing, I could not have been more satisfied. I will not hesitate to use wilson55 again, and thank you very much.

No issues at all, great service and very fast postage unlike some competitors that think the best part of a month is ok. From purchace to delivery was 4 days with Wilson55.

I too have bought through Wilsons and the service received was what I hoped for, but that isn't the reason for this revue ……..
I started buying at auction some 15 years ago and the commission rates were then at about 12% ~ ~ now the commissions rates generally level out at about 50% of the final payed price - and I wonder how sustainable this is.
So few Auction Houses advertise their commissions, beyond that of the buyer ~ so few mention that they also charge the seller a commission, and I know of one Auctioneer who charges a commission on unsold lots.
This isn't so much a complaint which is aimed at Wilson55 - more that it's aimed at the entire industry ~ I'm left with the opinion that every auction house watches what others are doing and then, wondering what they can get away with, so the changes increase.
There is one auction house which I deal with which charges a buyer's commission of 10% and then they levy 5% against the vendor too - that's 15%. They are a very well run and professional outlet - the last on-line auction finished on Sunday evening at 18:00 - I paid via the simplest BACS system ever, and on Tuesday morning DHL delivered my purchase, from Scotland and by 10:15 - and the shipping cost? ~ ~ £13.
Am I alone in wondering if the auction trade isn't at the point of self suffocation?

We received excellent service from Stephen Sparrow when selling several paintings at their auction. The whole process was smooth and hassle free and we were kept well informed throughout. Very competitive commission rate too with no hidden fees added on. Will use again.

Wilson55 sold two items of jewellery for me. The process was very professionally handled. One item's estimate was correct and it sold to estimate but the second item reached three times what was expected. This was probably on account of Wilson55's good marketing and wide customer base. A good ending to the story of my necklace.
