Horrible

If I could give a negative star I would. Very unprofessional and unreliable company. Only had them for about 2 months. I wondered why all my neighbors have Evergreen trash cans... Now I know WHY!!! I JUST SWITCHED! HORRIBLE COMPANY!!!!

The customer service is beyond poor

The customer service is beyond poor. We have called every day about our trash not being picked up. Everyday someone says it will be picked up. They sent a picture of our. Neighbors can being picked up. And said the driver said our can had been picked up. We live in an HOA and the unsightly can is still full and never been picked up. Customer service says it will be picked up and a credit will be issued. Can is still full and tomorrow is our regular day for pick up. What does one need to do to get service? This is not a customer service business. We pay a lot and on time every time for years. Please explain the lack of customer service!!

The most deceptive company I have ever…

The most deceptive company I have ever dealt with. The contract price is a carrot to enter into contract. Then they Incrementally keep adding to the bill. by the time your contract is over, you are paying triple what they offered. I extremely recommend avoiding this company and never enter an agreement with them!

"I live in Montreal, and I advise you to pay close attention to your accounts. My contract was for $650 per month, but without my knowledge, they started charging me $1,015 per month. It's been a real headache trying to get my money back or receive the service I paid for they still owe me.

Awful AI customer service

The Customer service of Waste Management is the worse of the worst. Not only they never solve your issues, but when they say "we are going to escalate your issue" THERE IS NEVER A FOLLOW-UP WHATSOEVER.
I am trying for a couple of months to accessing my WM account online, and the message i get is "We recognize your account, but your email address is not verified. Please use the link sent to (my email address) to verify your email address." In addition the WM website cannot "find my address", although I receive bills from WM to my home.
And another story is how I was able to get a trash can for my new home, I had trash in my garage for almost two weeks.
I have contacted tech support (from both India and the USA) and for the last couple of months they cannot fix the problem. Their lack of knowledge and utter disregard for patient satisfaction is appalling.
This is the consequence of monopolies: once they know that they are the only ones servicing the area, they just don't care. WM took over Benz Disposal in my community. What a difference between the customer service provided by this small trash company, with the incompetence showed by this giant corporation, once they took over the Rosamond area.

UPDATE 4/23/2026: Since the day I posted this review, NO ONE FROM WM "Escalation Department" has contacted me. As always, they do not care about customer satisfaction. I am still unable to log in to my account, and the WM website still can't find my address. UNBELIEVABLE.

UPDATE 4/27/2026 A person from WM ((917)315-5400, a Texas number, although I live in California) left a voice mail regarding the "Google Review" but did not left a phone number to call back, and the number they used is an automated response that do not give you an option to speak with a human customer service representative.
I was asked to submit my email, home address and phone number, and WM still does not have the courtesy or common sense to address a paying customer inquiry in a timely manner.
As always WM provides dismal service, and still showing utter disregard for paying customer satisfaction, stuck with their awful service.

UPDATE 4/28/2026: I had submitted my name, address, account number and email to wmcares.com about 5 times, and it seems like wmcares does not care.
They call and never leave a call back number, nor a voicemail message. This reply is the farthest they go every time they have negative review.

UPDATE 4/29/2026 WM sent me an account activation email, I clicked on the link but I am unable to complete the activation because "! Sorry, we are unable to find your address, please re-enter your address and try again." And again no way to contact a human customer service rep to solve this long term problem.

UPDATE 5/8/2026: Since 5/1 I've been in contact with a WM customer service person, she is been trying to get my issue solved with no resolution yet. The struggle continues.

This is still a terrible company

This is still a terrible company. There is no improving this company or management. They are only money hungry and full of greed. I really hope someone or myself takes them for everything they have. This is one of them companies in world that should be taken away.Have a great day.

Total lack of communication

Total lack of communication, lied about trying to communicating multiple times send them my call log from cell phone , they ghosted me the bag bin still in my drice way been two weeks.They never told me about waiver I made mistake I was 19ft from curve. If I had known about waiver I would have agreed to come on driveway, so they billed me 100 bucks for showing up. I would never deal with them again. AVOID VERY DISHONEST

The price doubled over about 2 years

The price doubled over about 2 years. When I called to cancel, they immediately offered to price match my new company. I still wanted out and they are charging $92.77 just to pick up their own bins.

I would like to thank the billing…

I would like to thank the billing department, I pay yearly, and I give them a call once a year when I get my new invoice, I always contact Michael, he is so helpful and understanding and he always answer and try to help customers. This is what customers service should be.

I cancelled our services due to…

I cancelled our services due to increasing costs. And the cancelation process has been a nightmare. First we were notified that cancelation can take up to 90 days from the time of the request for cancelation. We have been charged multiple fees and one of those being $325 to have them pick up the dumpster. This cancelation process further validates our decision to switch companies.

promised a refund and then blocked

I paid for a year of service while my HOA had covered the expenses of garbage collection- months went by when i was unable to cancel my account because of 2+ hour phone wait times. I was never provided a trash container. A WM customer service person told me over the phone that i would be refunded my year of payments if I sent in the documentation from the HOA. I sent the requested doc via email multiple times without a response. Further follow up attempts resulted in "we have closed your case".

Do you like being scammed? This is the company for you.

These ass clowns still won’t cancel my service.

If I was a month behind before they would take my cans. Not when you owe them money. They will keep the cans there.

I zeroed out my bill that was past due. I was and I’m still going through financial hardship. I tried to cancel. Every time you call and you mention the word cancel they won’t pick up the phone.

I have tried calling from different phone numbers. You guys can come and get your cans. I am not paying my bill. In the meantime.

Messing up my account and my bill being $100 next month. I have all my receipts. You guys are a bunch of mom lovers

I see you have a bunch of class action lawsuits in the works for fraudulent business practice, scam, just to name a few.

There’s the phone number on the account. I don’t care because I don’t have the phone number anymore. The account better be zeroed out and closed. In the meantime, I’ll keep filling the can up and you guys can keep taking it because it’s not getting paid.

I had trash pickup from them for 3…

I had trash pickup from them for 3 years and months ago the driver got stuck in my driveway and tore up my driveway leaving big holes/ruts in my driveway. The driver said i took pictires and my boss will fix your driveway in the springtime. Waste Management called me to tell me they aren't fixing my driveway and that they are canceling my services since I cant fix my driveway. Im so disgusted with this company going around tering up my driveway and refusing to fix it. Definitely not how you do business. I think they should fix my driveway. If I went around tearing up someone's property I would go to jail and be made to pay for the damages.

Predatory contract practices

Predatory contract practices, billing issues, and refusal to cancel

I strongly caution anyone considering service with Waste Management.

I originally signed a service agreement with Advanced Disposal in 2019 with a 5-year term (which is already outrageous, but I live in a rural area and had no other options at the time). AD was later acquired by Waste Management. After the acquisition, I was required to set up a new account with WM, but I was never provided with updated contract terms, renewal notice, or clear documentation of my agreement. My original service agreement would have terminated and "auto renewed" in 2024; however, I was provided with NO notice of that. I assumed my service was with WM now, as I had no documentation or notice otherwise. There is no way to view your contract terms or where you are in a contract term in your account.

When I attempted to cancel service due to the increasing costs and ridiculous fee they charge for extra pick up ($200+) and inability to get more frequent pick ups other than once a month, I was told I am locked into a renewed five-year contract and would be required to pay “liquidated damages” to terminate.

Here are the issues I’ve experienced:

-I received no renewal notice in 2024, despite Wisconsin law requiring written notice before an automatic renewal can be enforced
-My account has no contract documents available, and there is no way to verify any current agreement terms
-In January 2026, Waste Management sent letters to me stating my agreement was “nearing expiration” and inviting optional renewal, with no mention of automatic renewal or penalties
-These letters (I have several of them) referenced a 3-year term if I chose to renew, which contradicts their current claim of a 5-year contract
-My rates have been increased with “notice” buried in invoices, and I was told I “accepted” the increase simply by paying (I was set up for autopay so I didn't even see these invoices. This is a deliberate shady tactic so people miss it and unknowingly "consent" to it.
-When I called, I was told my rate could be “negotiated,” which contradicts the idea that I am locked into a fixed long-term contract

Additionally, the billing experience has been extremely frustrating:

-I was enrolled in autopay using my checking account, yet every single month my payment was marked as “declined”
-When I re-entered the exact same information, the payment would go through without issue
-Notifications that payments “failed” were often sent after the due date, resulting in administrative fees and late fees
-This pattern raises serious concerns about how payments are being processed and whether fees are being unfairly assessed

Customer service has also been extremely difficult to access:

-Calls routinely involve 30+ minute hold times, often ending in disconnection
-Representatives require certified mail to cancel service, creating additional barriers
-There is no clear communication of contract terms or renewal deadlines

Despite all of this, Waste Management is refusing to cancel service and is attempting to impose termination fees.

Even more concerning, I am now worried they will delay removing their rusty, old dumpster from my property while continuing to bill me.

This experience has been frustrating, misleading, and unnecessarily difficult. At a minimum, customers should expect:

Clear contract terms
Proper renewal notice
Transparent billing practices
Reasonable access to customer service
The ability to cancel without being trapped in unclear or outdated agreements

I strongly recommend getting everything in writing and reviewing all terms carefully before signing up. Or, better yet, avoiding them altogether. Look up their regulatory violations. Since 2000, WM companies have been fined $950,560,280. I can't believe they are still allowed to do business.

Waste Management is a deplorable…

Waste Management is a deplorable company to deal with. Their customer service is absolutely horrendous. If you do try and cancel your service because of the exorbitant annual fee increases, they will charge you a second month PLUS a mandatory "pick up fee" for your container. I would avoid them at all costs.

Buyer beware

Buyer beware: Like most of the other reviews, our ongoing issue with WM was its pricing, which in the last 12 years would increase anywhere from 7% to 15% each year. Occasionally, you could call it get it lowered, but then you had to agree to terms such as never getting your dumpster replaced. After 20+ years with WM, we finally decided to terminate our service. Come to find out, that 20 years ago, the contract states that it is automatically renewed and to cancel it, you have to cancel in writing 90 days prior to the renewal date. And BTW, they never send out anything referencing that you are up again for an automatical renewal (as most reputable companies do). We were able to terminate the agreement, but they did hit us with one more charge - they charge for the removal of the dumpster too.

One of the worst companies I’ve ever…

One of the worst companies I’ve ever had to deal with. After months and months of service issues, I called to cancel our dumpster service. They tried to tell me I couldn’t because of my service agreement. I told they hadn’t been honoring the agreement and were invoicing me for a service they weren’t providing. A federal offense.

It took me two hours to get someone on the phone to even begin talking about cancelling our account. And that person was rude, belligerent, and hell bent on not honoring my request.

Avoid this company. Their defense for account cancellations is to make it nearly impossible to fire them.

I can’t believe a company like this can stay in business.

Over priced

Over priced, they don't answer the phone very well, hold time is ridiculous. We found a local service where you can actually speak to a person so we canceled service. They said there was going to be no bill, they booked us 33., like 8.50 for printing the paper. We paid that then next month they send us another bill for 5. Later fee from January is now April and another 8.50 because they printed the paper. Not recommended at all
