Shocking
Shocking. Forced to pay without finding a space. Staff ridiculously rude and couldn't care less. Absolute disgrace.
Confusing Airport Fines
Confusing Airport Fines: Two Charges for Driving Through Drop-Off Zones
It sounds like I had a truly frustrating experience at the airport! I have received two separate £100 fines on the same day, totalling £200, for what I believe was simply driving through designated drop-off areas, not parking in them.
Here's a breakdown of what you've described:
Fine 1: Issued for being in a "lower drop-off" zone between 7:07 AM and 7:09 AM.
Fine 2: Issued for being in an "upper drop-off" zone between 7:03 AM and 7:05 AM.
I was attempting to find a short-term parking spot for 1-2 hours and eventually paid £20.90 to exit a car park. I was navigating through heavy traffic and temporary roadworks, and I never stopped your car in these drop-off zones, only drove through them. This suggests I was unaware that simply driving through these zones incurs a charge, or that I missed signage indicating payment was required, or that I was intended to park in any of these drop-off areas, rather than that I was looking for a short term car park. It was not a purposeful violation, but I don't have any chance to explain this. Nobody listening.
Also, why two fines on the same day in a matter of five minutes?
My daughter
My daughter, her daughter & son, flew back to terminal 2 on 26/06, she had paid to park for 5 days, £108 yesterday she received a parking fine from the parking co at MAN, for £100, for not paying at drop off & pick up point, on the night they returned, she didn't drop off or pick anyone up, they were driving out of the airport as she said she followed her sat nav to get out of the airport, unbelievable, she's phoning the ombudsman when she gets home from work money grabbing swines.
Never again! Meet and Greet parking Manchester Airport
Never again! We used the air port meet and greet parking recently. On our return we were directed to the self-service key collection point but only to receive a message that the vehicle is “not ready for collection – report to reception”.
At reception we were informed that the vehicle was in fact not even on site and ‘still in storage’. At 1am in the morning after a 6 hour journey that is not what we wanted to hear.
When I asked why the vehicle was not awaiting us, having paid for a meet and greet service, I was informed that “several drivers hadn’t turned in today so it’s been like this all day”
I asked how and when we were going to see our vehicle and was told “when a driver’s available, maybe 30 or 40 minutes”.
Eventually our vehicle was returned, with very muddy wheels so I don’t like to think where it had been ‘stored’. We eventually left around 45 minutes later.
The staff on site said "this is not unusual". I wrote to the management and did not even receive the courtesy of a response let alone an apology. Dreadful service.
Again can’t echo the same comments…
Again can’t echo the same comments enough, awful system in place so messy.
Roadworks at the terminal, couldn’t get to the correct location and dropped off where I thought wouldn’t get a charge now received a parking notice for £60.
I wouldn’t go to Manchester airport again for this reason it’s horrendous and oblivious the airport don’t care as there isn’t a single comment to justify this new drop off payment system.
Shocking it’s really is 😡 all drivers be aware …
Manchester airport parking
I have observed that the majority of these parking areas operate exclusively through online payment methods, while only one Terminal offers the option of paying directly at the exit barrier using bank cards or cash - which I believe represents best practice. The airport management authority should prioritize customer convenience by providing multiple payment options, particularly considering the needs of elderly passengers who may not be comfortable with online systems.
While I understand that the airport authority has contracted these services to parking management companies, there appears to be insufficient oversight regarding customer choice and convenience. The parking operators' use of automated ANPR systems obviously to reduce staffing costs but creates potential pitfalls for customers. Long-distance travelers can easily forget to pay within the required timeframe after their departure, resulting in
p e n a l t y c h a r g e s.
Furthermore, when technical issues arise with online payments, the support system proves inadequate. I have personally attempted to use the "live chat" feature on the website twice, right after 5pm but only received automated responses stating " all of our agents are unavailable."
The latest changes of the parking system emphasis improvement of the services but in fact , less payment option , charges increased, create more chances for penalties.
Another Parking Shambles
The new charging system for Drop Off charges are ridiculous!!! Why do we now have to mess about phoning or going Online.
What was wrong with Tapping your card to pay ?
Pity there's no ZERO rating !
Usual Dial up crap : press 1 press 1 press 1 press 1 press 1 Speak your Reg No : Speak your Reg No:
Read your Card No Read Your Exp Date : Read Ccv 100 etc etc etc
Absolute Garbage !!!
Miore reasons to avoid the Worlds Worst Airport !!!!
Express drop-off
Accidentally drove through the express drop-off area. I did not drop anyone off and went to park in the short stay car park (took 1 minutes to drive through). You are charged as soon as you enter so still had to pay £5 or would face an extra charge if I didn't pay before end of day. Contacted them for a refund a week ago but have not heard anything back. Awful company and just a nother example of how we get shafted in this country.
Total rip off
Total rip off, why not have a barrier with card tap! as everyone has said it is designed for you not to pay so they can fine you. I never minded the old car park with barriers, I used it a lot.
I used this Wednesday and had a fine Monday. totally out of order. If i had had a reminder first I would have no issue paying the £5 but to have a fine 4 days later just makes your blood boil. I will avoid Manchester airport from now on
A system designed to catch you out
I will echo what others have said. This new system is deliberately designed to maximise revenue from human error. I genuinely forgot to pay on my last visit and now am faced with a fine. I might as well have thrown the money down the drain. As someone else has mentioned here, there is nowhere to pull over after leaving the drop-off area so that you can pay immediately. You then focus on finding your way out of the airport, drive home and life takes over and - sometimes- often they hope- you forget. It's a nice little earner for them.
Dropping off at Manchester Airport
Dropping off at Manchester Airport is an opportunity for them to rip off the motorist! Signage for charged drop off is large and clear. The barrier-less system is designed to make more money out of fines for missed or late payment. There is a free drop off area but you won’t find it on their website, neither will you see any signs for it on your journey into the airport. Cynical fleecing of the public.
Manchester terminal 2 parking rip off
Dropped my son off at terminal 2. Didn’t get out of the car as normal. Drove to pay at barrier as per previous visits but barriers had been removed. Thought that it had been changed to free drop off but realised 2 days later that it’s hasn’t. Didn’t see any signage at the airport on the change or how to pay. Tried to pay on line once I had realised but system only allows same or next day payment. Waiting for a penalty notice. Shame on you Manchester Airport. Get bigger signs on how to pay so that drivers can see them clearly when entering your money making scam.
Absolutely appalled
Absolutely appalled that you cannot pay for parking on site. There is nowhere for you to pull over after you leave, and it is very easy to forget when you have to drive for 3 hours to get home. I tried for hours to contact the company to make a payment. I even registered my payment details in their system in the hope that they would recover that way, to no avail. As someone with mental health issues I had a very stressful 14 days waiting for them to send me a paper notification of the excess charge: and excessive it is. A weeks food shopping I have to do without. Heaven help those who are not technically minded
I’d give these lot zero stars if I…
I’d give these lot zero stars if I could paid them online twice for my car as I put the wrong reg in the first time I’ve emailed them for a refund been waiting a week now still no reply. These lot are good at taking your money but don’t like giving refunds not professional at all of them
Drop off charge is a rip off
This system is all about making more money from the motorists again. The old barrier system was over priced for a 3 minute drop off but the barrier less system is a complete RIP OFF. The signage ( if any ) is so small I didn’t even notice it. Airlines put adverts on tv about a nice relaxing experience but it’s all c**p. I will NEVER GO TO MANCHESTER AIRPORT AGAIN. I will be holidaying in Britain. I’d rather get soaked to the skin on LLANDUDNO promenade that visit that Manchester rip off s**t hole again.
Legal thieves
Legal thieves. Signage so small you have to get out to read but told to move on by staff. Then send charge by post. Post office now only deliver once a fortnight. Think you should change your system (give 28 days notice) and put better signage in place
T2 West Car Park Pick-up
My wife picked me up from T2 West Pick-up area last night. She arrived at the aircraft scheduled arrival time of 22:20, however the aircraft did not arrive at the gate until 22:40. She parked in the Disabled parking bay with my Blue Badge on display. Due to the aircraft late arrival she overstayed the allowed time by 10-minutes. APCOA have issued her with a £60 penalty for overstaying the allotted parking time!
After phoning the help line, the assistant would not listen to any legitimate excuses and say they have nothing to do with Manchester Airport and so you must pay the fine, even if there are mitigating circumstances.
A £60 penalty is excessive for 10-minutes excess, due to the fault of the airline or the airport. Delayed flight arrivals are common place and beyond the passengers control, there are no other options available for a vehicle to wait until confirmation the aircraft has arrived before entering the Pick-up area. This is totally unfair practice, a time limited sliding payment scale as is the case at many other International Airports could be justified, but this is taking advantage of no competition and no waiting zones to extort more money from passengers. Perhaps we should look at using Liverpool Airport instead.
The place is a disgrace,the most…
The place is a disgrace, the most unwelcoming and pocket robbing experience you can have in Manchester.
what a poor payment system
what a poor payment system, took god knows how many attempts to pay for parking. 13 minutes on the phone. probably making more from people waiting on the phone than the parking it`s self.only give it a 1 star because that is the least it would allow.i would have put minus if it was available.
Absolute scandal
Absolute scandal. Parked the car at T1 short stay for a charge of £6 and change. Only to get home and receive a parking charge of £100 for accidently driving through the lower drop of forecourt. Absolute joke.
