No consideration for older generation
Changing days for collection using only tenchnology as a form of communicating is ridiculous. My nanny had me ring on her behalf as she has 6 weeks worth of recycling to be collected. I was told that she was emailed - my nanny is 89 and does not know how to use email. No clarity on whose email is on the account as my nanny certainly does not have an email address. They have her address - they should be sending letters to communicate with elderly. Utter lack of consideration for the older customers.
Lost collection
Garden waste bin was emptied last week but not the general waste bin. Emailed an enquiry, no reply. Rang next day, a very nice lady said someone would get back to me. No reply. Rang the following day, a nice lad said there was no chip on the bin and didn’t know if they would collect it (waste lorry was in the area that day) but they’d ring with info. Still no reply. Who knows what will happen next collection day? Very disappointing, service is usually excellent though the billing is a bit random.
Left AES in December
Left AES in December. I won’t even get into why—but when I cancelled, I was told my bin would be collected within 14 days. Fine. Then after 3 weeks, I call back and suddenly it’s “28 days.”
Since then? FIVE phone calls and nearly FOUR MONTHS later, and the bins are STILL sitting here.
Absolutely ridiculous. Say what you mean and actually follow through instead of fobbing people off with different excuses every time.

Bord Na Mona is truly one of the worst organizations I have ever dealt with. Absolutely disgusting service from them including missed collections, incorrect schedule info and zero correspondence. Horrible company.

AES Customer Service just hung up on me.
The service from my experience has been dreadful over the last six months. I am waiting months to hear back from a supervisor, and have received no response to emails, and their customer service telephonist pretended not to hear me after I waited online for over twenty minutes to speak to them.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. Contacted them and confirmed ending their service when bills went up last year. They then sent me a cancellation fee request and denied the call had taken place. Despite being able to give them the time and date of call from my phone they would not listen and threatened to pass debt to an agency. I believe this was a scam move probably used frequently. Get everything in writing from them. Disgusting behaviour for a national company

The only thing they are consistent with is not collecting your bins then blaming the customer for it! Customer service will blatantly lie to you, accuse you of being responsible for their poor service and still insist on full payment, even though they are failing to provide the service being paid for! You’d be better off signing with any other company than this! Absolute disgraceful customer service. Emails ignored, no call backs when promised and never any resolve! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME

Over payment!
Been with this company since August 2024. Direct debit payment taken every month, no issues. Noticed in December 2025 no payment had been taken for my bins. (I just assumed christmas time maybe payments were at different times) January came no payment. Bins still been emptied. Rang up. My account was in credit but they didnt know why. I just assumed there had been an overpayment at some stage. February comes, bins emptied yet again no payment. Finally get onto my online account after not receiving an account number that worked. Multiple phone calls and emails they finally sent account number. Log in to find my monthly direct debit is €61. Previously paying €33pm no issues. Ring up. Someone messed up my account and I was told I have 3 recycling bins, 2 waste and 2 compost at my property ( 1 adult 2 kids) I infact only have 1 of each bin. They are trying to charge for 7 bins. Keep checking account regularly as this is shocking. Account still not updated after numerous phone calls. And surprise surprise I have to pay 3 months payments they didnt take from me . So over €100 . Shocking.
O am very disappointed on their services
O am very disappointed on their services. My compost collection was missed two time, and now my bin is full. I am up to date on payments. After we call their customer service , they said that some ones from their operations supposed to call us in 48 hours. After 4 days we didn’t received any call, and when we called to customer service they said some things, that the operations have to call us. For the moment I have an impression that this is very poor administration of the business. I advise everyone to think to make a contract with them to look for a better option .

Awaiting refund 2 months since my account was in credit when I moved out...4 emails later and 2 phone calls....I call it stealing money
Unreliable
I have been with aes a number of years now and never had an issue but last few weeks it has been a disaster so firstly my recycling bin was not collected I rang and yes there was payment due on it which was fair enough but I never got a notification like previously when they message you 5 days before hand to let you know so I made payment the following week my waste bin was not collected and I had to make many phone calls and emails before I even got a reply now they did come and and collect it 4 days later, today the same thing my recycling bin was not collected the bin man done his job he lifted the bin for truck to reject it. Have sent numerous of emails have tried to ring with no success, you understand things happen but this is getting ridiculous. Think I may start looking for a new provider

AES Sent me a text on BH Sunday about payment due in my account. I tried to pay but their website wasn’t responding, Just one day and a half later the recycling wasn’t collected because the payment wasn’t done.
Disgraced of company that do that with customer when in my case I’ve been with them for years and I have paid my part.
It’s not the first time that this company let me down but this is the last.
AES doesn’t smell clean.
Totally unacceptable
Totally unacceptable - there are two different sites now for your online account and they look totally different and have two different domains. Tried to set up direct debit on one and now Im going to have to cancel my card as a back up measure because I am not sure which site is even genuine. The company is very poorly organised - non stop issues with paying bills properly and tried to ring customer service this morning and there are TWENTY people in the queue. If you even get through I have only ever had negative experiences with staff who have no customer services skills. I only stick with them as no one else serves our area and honestly I think that's the only reason they're still in business. They are also rebranded as AES and so can walk away from all of the bad reviews under this name - buyer beware.
Good Service & Value
I'm happy with their bin collection service and find it to be reliable and good value (AES Lite – €23 per month for unlimited recycling, compost and glass collection, with a 30kg allowance for general waste).
Their customer is also easy to deal with and responds quickly (my email enquiry was dealt with efficiently by TJ).
The reason I haven't given 5 stars is that I found the website and online portal to be a bit lacking – it could be more intuitive to navigate and could have more information about their different service plans available.
Worst company for refuse collection
Worst company for refuse collection.
They are so bad, inconsiderate, and dishonest. NEVER came for my bins, even when I would call the office and be promised they would show up. Kept charging me "service fees" but provided no service. I finally put all four bins out and told them they had til noon to collect them all. When they didn't, I removed my ID, took them to local recycling and left them there. Don't go near them. Pure shite.
Please avoid these jokers!
The service gets even more ridiculous when you try and cancel. They say the reason your bins weren’t collected was an error on their system but it’s all been rectified, collection day comes and again NO SHOW. Try to cancel and they threaten a 50 euro fee plus, a 20 working day wait for all refuse to be collected. For me it’s likely to be 6 weeks waiting! Honestly, worst service experience in my life. These guys should cease trading or have their licence revoked. Please save yourself time and hassle and don’t go near them for bin collection.

Organic bins collection missed second week in a row, no explanation to the customers, no information whatsoever. This company is a joke, completely useless customer service, extremely bad website with customer portal where you can't do anything. Avoid!!!!!
