⭐ Honestly
⭐ Honestly, you couldn’t make this experience up.
I bought a BMW M4 from Cars4You and what should have been an exciting purchase turned into an absolute shambles from practically the moment I collected it.
Before collection I was told the car would receive a full valet and machine polish so it would be properly prepared for me picking it up.
When I actually got the car home, I discovered what appeared to be dried sick/spillage between the rear seats and around the seat belts, and both front vanity mirror glasses were smashed.
Some full valet that was.
I had also specifically asked about the car’s service history before agreeing to buy it and was supplied with service dates and mileages. Yet when I collected the car there was no paper service history with it and not even the vehicle manuals were there.
Unfortunately, that was just the warm-up.
Within days of collecting the M4, the engine management light came on and significant white smoke started coming from the exhaust. The car went back to Cars4You for repairs involving the lambda sensor. The problems continued, it went back again, and further work was then required involving the charge cooler.
In over two months of owning and paying for this BMW M4, I got to drive it properly for a grand total of FOUR FULL DAYS.
Four days.
All the while I’ve continued paying the monthly finance, insurance and road tax on an M4 that has spent most of my ownership back at the dealership.
Then there’s the service-history saga.
Before purchasing the car I specifically asked about the service history and was supplied with a list of dates and mileages, including services supposedly carried out at 38,000 and 62,000 miles.
After purchase, the BMW iDrive service history I was subsequently shown contained completely different dates and mileages. I asked Cars4You to provide the documentation supporting the information I’d originally been given, particularly those 38k and 62k entries.
I have now been told through my finance company that Cars4You’s explanation is apparently that they mistakenly supplied me with the MOT history instead of the service history.
There’s just one small problem with that explanation:
The information I was originally given doesn’t appear to match the vehicle’s MOT history either.
So after all of this, I’m still none the wiser about where the original dates and mileages I was given before buying the car actually came from.
And despite being told before purchase that the vehicle had service history, there was no physical service-history paperwork supplied with the car and not even the owner’s manuals were present when I collected it.
Then came the courtesy cars.
Even the courtesy vehicles I was supplied with had problems and had to be returned. I ended up going through FOUR DIFFERENT CARS IN ABOUT TWO WEEKS.
At this point I wasn’t sure whether I’d bought an M4 or accidentally accepted a job in Cars4You’s quality-control department.
And somehow it gets better.
After my finance company became involved and the M4 was being rejected/unwound, Cars4You then started pursuing me for £40 PER DAY for using the courtesy vehicle.
Yes — the courtesy vehicle I was using because the M4 I’d just bought from them was sitting back at their garage dealing with faults and repairs.
I dispute the retrospective amount they’re attempting to charge and that issue has now also been raised while the unwind is being dealt with.
Thankfully, Startline has now become directly involved and the M4 is in the process of being rejected and the finance agreement unwound.
So my experience consisted of:
A promised full valet and polish — followed by finding what appeared to be dried sick/spillage in the rear and two smashed vanity mirrors.
Service information supplied before purchase — but no paper service history or even the vehicle manuals when I collected it.
Service dates/mileages that subsequently didn’t match the BMW iDrive records.
An explanation that the information was actually MOT history — despite it apparently not matching that either.
Engine management light within days.
Significant white exhaust smoke.
Multiple repair attempts.
Lambda sensor work followed by charge-cooler work.
Four different courtesy/replacement cars in around two weeks because those had issues too.
Only FOUR full days actually driving my M4 in more than two months of ownership.
Finance, insurance and road tax continuing throughout.
And finally a dispute over a £40-per-day courtesy-car charge.
Buying an M4 was supposed to be the enjoyable part.
The most reliable thing about this entire experience has been the problems.
I’ll let anyone reading this decide whether that’s the sort of car-buying experience they’d like.
I certainly won’t be back

Great cars, but after sales doesn't match
Wish i'd reviewed trust pilot prior to visiting this dealership, all the bad is correct. Great car but we hit an issue and had nothing but grief over the course of 4+months. Would not recommend folks. Did get the right resolution in the end, but only after patient persistence.
I guess if you get a car without any faults all good, but beware if issues occur things are not great!

I was interested in a ford focus which only had a short mot, they said it would be moted this Friday 04/09/2026 they're just making excuses saying the ramp is not working, pathetic. I'll look elsewhere for a car. This car sales needs to be avoided.

Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish
I purchased a Land Rover Discovery Sport from Cars4You in January 2026, and unfortunately the experience that followed has been extremely disappointing.
After problems with the vehicle, the matter eventually resulted in the vehicle being rejected and returned to Cars4You. The finance company ultimately dealt with the rejection and the financial side of the complaint.
My biggest issue with Cars4You has been the communication and the amount of chasing I have had to do throughout this entire process.
Even after the vehicle had been returned, along with the keys and documentation, I still had to repeatedly chase the return of my £810 deposit. I was initially told that the refund would be passed to accounts and, at worst, would normally be processed within five working days.
That timeframe passed without the refund being received. I sent several emails asking for updates, some of which received no response. This was particularly frustrating as the vehicle had already been advertised for resale while I was still waiting to get my own deposit back.
I eventually had to escalate matters, copy other parties into correspondence and continue chasing before the £810 refund was finally processed on 24 August.
I understand that problems with vehicles can happen. What has disappointed me most is how difficult and time-consuming it has been to get matters resolved and to receive clear communication.
A difficult situation could have been made considerably easier through prompt responses, proactive updates and simply doing things within the timescales I was given.
After dealing with this since January, I am relieved that the matter is finally reaching its conclusion, but based on my personal experience I could not recommend Cars4You.
For the benefit of anyone considering this particular vehicle, the registration is FA65CVL. This is the Land Rover Discovery Sport involved in my complaint. During my ownership it developed a major fault within days of purchase and, following a subsequent repair, began producing significant smoke shortly after I collected it from the dealership. I subsequently rejected the vehicle and returned it to Cars4You. I have since seen the vehicle advertised for resale. I cannot comment on what repairs or work may have been carried out since it was returned, but prospective purchasers may wish to make their own enquiries regarding its history.
I hope the company takes this feedback constructively and improves the way customers are communicated with when problems arise.
