Maymont Homes formerly Conrex is the worst I have ever dealt with
I hope you took a lot of pictures/video when you move in. I listed things on my move-in checklist and they are still trying to charge me for it. I hope no one has to terminate their lease early because that is another mess that they will try to charge you more for than you should owe. I moved out in April and am still fighting with them over supposed damages and extra charges on top of the security deposit. When I moved in the fence was down in 2 places and it took them months to even get anyone to look at it much less fix anything. I couldn't walk through the house without my socks turning black until I had mopped at least 4 times but yet they want to charge me a cleaning fee not to mention they claim most of the blinds in the place were damaged when they weren't and the pictures they send are horrible and you can't see what they are trying to say is damaged. Over all my recommendation is to find someone else to rent from but take pictures/video when moving in and out to have proof or else they WILL rip you off.
No water, no help
Attempted to contact both Maymont and Simple Bills several times in order to receive a bill for utilities, to no avail. “Account has not been transferred yet”. “I see no bills on your account”. “Your account is still in the process of being transferred to our system”. After multiple months, “still in progress”. Returned from work one day to find my water has been “disconnected due to nonpayment”. At this point I have made several calls to Maymont and Simple Bills, each one trying to transfer my call to the other with absolutely no solution. I still have no water and we are dealing with a record breaking heat wave. I hope they find a solution to this problem and put a stop to others finding themselves in similar situations. I would love take a shower or wash my hands. I suppose the things we take for granted until a subpar company gets your water shut off.
Lease At Your Own Risk
Do not rent from Maymont Homes. Rent at your own risk. They have horrible properties in Tennessee. Their idea of fixing things is to put sealant or whether strip on it. They make you feel like everything is ok while leaving out important information such as “you must use their 3rd party utility company”. Their properties are not safe to be in. They have issues from electrical, to the build itself, poor insulation, unsafe door framing, and much more. Just don’t do it. You would do better living with a friend or relative. Just don’t do it. Don’t make the mistake I made. Oh, and they have people in and out your house every day with no resolve for months at a time.

Is anyone suing Conrex/Maymont and Simple Bills for their shady business practices please let me know! 4 years with them and I have been overcharged and they have zero regulation on raising rent either. They will prove renters out of their income bracket that they had to be in in order to rent with them in the first place!
Wish We Could Give Negative Stars…
If there was a way to leave a negative star review, I would put negative 5 stars. This is the worst company I have ever seen. I managed rentals for over 30 years, and would NEVER treat tenants or properties the way Conrex/Maymont does.
They have the house next to me, and are totally negligent in maintaining the property. When they do a repair, they do things like put new wood for a railing but the contractors have to nail it to rotted wood (I have pictures showing this).
The first tenants were dealing drugs and violent (we are a nice, safe neighborhood), and they never addressed those issues. The 2nd tenants were wonderful. They fixed up the nasty yard left by the old tenants, they took very good care of the property. Yet Maymont is trying to charge them almost $4,000 for things that Maymont never fixed, like the pipe in the wall that is leaking, and the electrical outlet that is getting wet from the leak.
Every contractor that comes to the place complains about the limitations and restrictions placed on them, and it takes 90 days or more for them to get paid.
Maymont also puts the neighbor houses in danger by not trimming off the large dead tree branches hanging down. Some have already damaged my house and the house on the other side, but Maymont refuses to address the ones still hanging. (Also have pictures).

They can improve by being honest and not stealing money! The house was in better shape when I moved out versus when I moved in. Clearly documented on move in report that there were scuffs on the walls and water stains under cabinets. Security deposit was $2995 and they only refunded $296, charging $1200 to repaint whole interior which falls under normal wear and tear and had documented scuffs on move in! Completely illegal in South Carolina!!!

DO NOT RENT! Horrible business. They have fee after fee after fee during the application process and barely any of it goes to the actual rent. The home they gave was in absolute horrible condition like it had never been cleaned before. Stains on the carpet and walls, poop from a cat just laying around. I had a short notice move so I did not see it in person, but the house was a wreck. They didnt care at all and offered no services to clean the place, just a 150 dollar reimbursement which didnt even begin to cover the costs of what I had to get to clean it. The fridge is broken and the water and ice do not work, their response was "its old, nothing we can do about it". Horrible customer service and they do not care about the tenant. I have known a few people that I have safely kept away from this company. They force you to use their utility service which is an extra charge with no way around it. They'll take your security deposit just to not use it on the house. Covered up holes with the wrong paint color. Theres so much to be said and none of it is a good experience. Please take your hard earned money somewhere else!

I've been evicted over their employee making a clerical error on their part which I'm paying for it by being homeless. It got me evicted 😡 Threw all my stuff out to the curb cuz I cannot afford a storage I am disabled along with my disabled underage son. due to the fact they wrote the wrong numbers down in a ledger 😡 And the fact that the attorney who represented me seem like that he was working for them..I've been renting from them now for 6 years never been late with rent...till recently..I got help which wasn't for rent it was for utilities by simple bills they wouldn't accept my rent because I was behind on utilities..their employee mistake has disrupt my life severely emotionally physically and financially.. even one of their employees came to their property which I am still at I will be vacating though told me that it was their mistake the reason why this is happening to me.. not only do I have physical proof that I also have witness..They're nothing but money hungry don't give too craps to the wind about you or your family and the fact that you've been a good tenant for 6 years never been late once with their rent took good care of their property.. the price increase on your rent is ridiculous too it goes up up up and it don't stop. Maymont is there a new name the only covering up the bad publicity that conrex has brought upon themselves don't be fooled same people different name I suggest to anybody do your homework before you go and sign in with these people trust me I've been with them for 6 years and now I'm going after them for what they've done to me & mines.. this is far from over I will seek Justice for what they have done.

Please please do not rent from these people, now known as maymont homes. Great when signing up, painful on support for issues on move in and totally dishonest and expensive on move out. I’m sure they reply with excuses but it was an awful experience .. please go elsewhere

***Conrex is now Maymont Homes*** I guess they’re hoping a name change will help. They are the worst. They took photos 3 weeks after we moved and tried to say that we owed them money for lawn care. I had a time/date stamped photo with the location on it to prove otherwise and they adjusted the lawn care but are still are trying to charge me for trimming the bushes back. They are also trying to charge me for several other things that I don’t owe them money for. They even came in the day after we left and got rid of my dining table and chairs, and my bed frame, mattress and box spring. Never mind the law that says we have 7 days to retrieve what we couldn’t. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Customer service is awful. The higher ups are just as ghetto as the people they hire. They are rude and extremely unprofessional and we are in the process of suing them. Know your rights and avoid Maymont Homes (Conrex) altogether.

DO NOT RENT FROM CON-REX PROPERTIES!!!!! Everything you read in the below reviews are accurate. And do not let the leasing team sweet talk you into signing. Before I signed our lease back in 2021, I addressed the leasing team about my concerns with the reviews, and they claimed these were bad and disgruntled tenants. While I suppose we qualify as a disgruntled tenant now, we were far from bad tenants. Upon move-in, I took the time to outline the entire property with notes and pictures for our move-in checklist. Our rental property was filthy upon arrival, had dust all all the floors from sanding and painting, and the fridge and oven were filthy. Underneath the oven I pulled out several food items from the previous tenant. That wasn't it though, the bathroom closest was filthy from the previous tenant's hair, the kitchen blinds and the master bedroom blinds did not operate properly upon move-in, none of the windows were cleaned prior to move-in, all the walls and trim were not patched from the previous tenant (leaving obvious small holes which we repaired upon our exit of the house), and the carpeted stairs to the basement were already disgusting and ripping away. During our two-year stay, we reseeded the front lawn, filled in and painted the nail holes left on the trim in the entire house, removed the weeds that covered the backyard fence, repainted all of the cabinets with a fresh coat of white cabinet enamel (same paint and color used before), and repainted the walls of the rental with the exact same color and brand of paint that I verified with the management off before we moved out. Despite the property not being ready for new tenants upon our move-in, we left the house in better condition than upon arrival, and Con-Rex attempted to charge us an additional $2000 on top of keeping our $1500 deposit. We never got our deposit back, and we still had to pay an additional $500 when Con-Rex sold our account to a debt collection agency. This doesn't even cover the problems we had during our stay. They tried to double charge us for rent when they had a system error on their end, and it took me 4 months of weekly phone calls to get the error fixed! WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT RENT FROM CON-REX!!!!!!!!!

This is the second complaint I am making regarding this property. I filed the last one back in July/August due to serious maintenance issues not being addressed. After reporting the companiy to literally everywhere I could they sent junkies in to “fix my home” who in turn did half of the job and stole from me and my children. My home was uninhabitable for over two months. In conrex terms a little over a month. I have in writing from conrex that I would be reimbursed from July 28th-August 14th -That still has not happened I get every excuse in the book even though I have a email from the resolutions manager. From August 14-28 they arraigned for me to go to a roach infested hotel which I did check in, but due to the roaches I did not stay. I called and requested another reservation somewhere else, this was not provided. I was told I was not being credited because they were charged for this hotel stay. Tiffany-the resolutions manager advised me if I could get the money refunded I would be credited from July 28-August 28th. I jumped through hoops and got it refunded (which they could have done themselves) and still nothing. On top on that there is now retaliation ongoing from the property. Every other week I get a bogus violation or more charges without cause added to my account. PRC (rental assistance) paid my rent for December and yet I was still forced to pay it too or be evicted. I have a ESA service animal and have turned in all required documentation but constantly get threatened of pet deposits and backdated pet rent even after confirming his documentation was received with their attorney. The company changed their name to Maymont homes- I assuming because of so many bad reviews! I would really love to not be threatened to put out of the dump that I live in every other week for no reason and the company to correct the remainder of the issues in the home, apply the credits I am owed and leave us alone until our lease is up!

CONREX Wants to Rob you Blind
Conrex/Simple bill did not pay their bills prior to me moving in. They are trying to charge me $360 dollars for 36 days on the water bill. The total amount due for 2 weeks water and 3 electric and fees was $421.00. The meter was read on September 5th, which means I’m being charges for the full month of August. I was only there 16 days. I was also charged on my electric bill for time I wasn’t in the property. The billing period started on 8/15/23 They also tried to stick me with their late fees. After consulting with numerous people, I was told the average water bill is $60 a month.
After speaking with the billing company, I agreed to pay only $180.00. I felt as though this amount was more than fair for my limited time on the property. When making the payment, I was told any leftover balance would be sent to Conrex. I confirmed this was a 1-time payment. That they could not keep my information on file or charge me.
On 10/31/2023 the billing company helped themselves to my bank account without authorization. I spoke to the company since a fraud claim with my bank required it. While on the phone, I was told that I was required to have a payment on file and when I signed up for the site, I was signing away my right prevent them from robbing me without notice when the account was closed. On 11/1/2023, I received another bill for $156 (fees included). I did not authorize any payment. This is financial exploitation.
How you’re forced to pay your bills is a scam. The company require you to pay Click Pay $25 to open your rent billing account. The water, sewer, and electricity are taken care of by 1 and only 1 company. For the “privilege” of Conrex keeping the bill in their name, they can charge you for their bills and a $25 dollar account activation and $11 monthly. In addition to any charges, they fail to tell you that you’re paying their bills while you didn’t live in the property.
This company is simple a scam. A shell company. If you're reading this, you must be suffering like I have been forced to. I'm sorry. Take photos and screen shots of everything and contact legal aid in your home state.

UPDATE... So I shouldn't have been so optomistic... Suddenly I was ghosted. Apparently Rently said they couldn't verify our income and that we had been denied. I tried repeatedly to contact Kari at Conrex in order to give them possible alternative numbers to contact for employment verification (even though they had 3 months of paystubs from both myself and my husband. You were all correct... Crapy company don't waste your money trying to rent from them!!!!!

We are in the process of trying to rent a home from Conrex in Alabama. I have to say that as of now... everything has gone very smoothly. I haven't had any trouble getting someone on the phone, they have done everything they have told me they would do, and they have all been extremely nice and helpful. I will update post at a later date if something changes but I'm very happy so far. When reading all of the negative reviews please keep in mind that sometimes you have to consider there are 2 sides to every story.

Terrible company to rent from. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! When my roommates and I were applying for a house they screwed us out of multiple houses because they wouldn't return my calls until after the property was gone. Got told that since we were approved but weren't able to get the house we were approved for any other house we wanted. Found another house, same thing. Did not pick up or even return my call. Got told our leasing agent was on lunch break, it was 10:00 in the morning... When we did finally get a house half to electrical sockets didn't work. The Tech was very nice and understanding so I'm imagining that he was from outside the company. Whenever I had a question regarding our lease and tried to call I got the same BS excuse, your leasing agent was one lunch break, take note that I called between the hours of 9AM-11AM and 2PM-4PM so that doesn't really track in my opinion. Tried to email, never got a return on one of the 20 to 30 emails I sent out. Used their "preferred" method for utilities and was a total nightmare. They are very neglectful about sending statements out. So my bills some months would be 4-500$ because of their laziness. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM.
Never rent from Conrex
If I could put less than a star I would. This management company is the worst management company I have ever dealt with. First when we looked at the house there had been a stainless side by side frig with ice and water in the door, when we moved in they had swapped it out with a small black apartment size frig with no ice maker at all. When questioned they said they would look into it and then never followed up or resolved the issues, the house was dirty, and smelled bad, we had to have it cleaned when we moved in including the carpets. We broke the lease because we purchased a home but we had done improvements, pressure washed, cleaned out flower beds, etc. We offered to advertise and find someone to assume rest of our lease, we had the home again professionally cleaned and it was in move in condition when we moved out on June 27th, It is now August 10th, they have made no effort to re-rent the home yet. We received a move out inspection report and mind you we were only in the home for 8 months. They charged us for full paint, carpet cleaning, bolts for the toilets which we never even touch, we were incredibly clean, they charged us for the gutters, on the outside of the home almost $5000 in charges. I am a real estate agent, my husband is retired air force we lived alone and I am so blown away with a business that operates and takes advantage of people so dishonestly. They also said we could not find a qualified new tenant but have not yet bothered to find one themselves. If I was the owner of this home at 108 Forest Hills Terrace in Alabaster I would be furious. Never ever, rent a home with Conrex Management. I will tell you that when we rented with Kairo Property Mgmt it was a much nicer and more professional experience.

This is the most unethical company! They will rent you a house without electricity but still collect rent. Then when you move they make up a ton of bogus or pre existing charges to cover the maintenance that any property owner should be doing anyway. They are total Scammers!

If i could give less than one star..I would. Conrex has few employees that actually care but their hands are often tied. I turned in a maintenance order over a month ago. (Probably the 100th one). Because of a water leak that i have reported several times before it got to being this bad. I submitted several issues for over a week at the EMERGENCY level, never got a response until i called and yelled and was transferred through 10 different people. My bathrooms both have major leaks in the walls and floors, (Bathrooms share a wall, one in the master bath and one in the hallway-kids bathroom). Both have several leaks and were leaking into my kitchen. I have major black mold, and a toilet and bathtub about to fall through my kitchen at any time. I fought and fought for over two weeks to get someone to come fix things. Finally i had Roto-Rooter sent to me, who told me it was not safe for my family to stay here. The next day a different company, and this continued because conrex doesn’t want to acknowledge the severity of this problem, nor pay to have it fixed. Almost two weeks later Serv-Pro was given permission to tear out the ceiling, cabinets, walls in the kitchen. Tear out all flooring in both bathrooms. Meaning i have no access to the kitchen or restrooms. I was told the plumbing company would start that same day. However, the plumbing company arrives and finds that my pipes were being held together with sealant and they all needed tore out and replaced. This was the Friday before last -12 days ago!! We are still living in a house with black mold, no restrooms to use, no kitchen and no solutions. There are a couple employees who seem they are trying to help but they can only do so much. Maintenance is an absolutely joke, and refuses to pay for my family to have a safe environment to live in. This is only one of the many issues. Property maintenance is ready to condemn my home at this time. Conrex has other homes my family could be moved to, and they refuse
