I flew Prague to Paris last month with…

I flew Prague to Paris last month with Czech Airlines, and the experience was very middle-of-the-road. The aircraft itself was actually nicer than I expected – clean cabin, comfortable seats, and the crew on board were friendly once we got in the air. I ordered a meal in advance and, to be fair, it was genuinely tasty.

That said, the trip didn’t get off to a great start. The flight was delayed by almost an hour with very little communication at the gate. The only update we got was a vague announcement that they were “resolving a technical issue.” When I checked my booking the night before, I noticed the flight was being operated by Smartwings, which wasn’t mentioned clearly when I booked. Not a dealbreaker, but it felt a bit misleading.

The biggest frustration was the baggage situation. The website wasn’t very clear, and I ended up paying an unexpected fee at the airport because the allowance listed during booking didn’t match what the agent said. Customer service wasn’t exactly helpful about it either.

Once we finally took off, everything was fine, but between the delay, the confusing baggage rules, and the Smartwings switch, it wasn’t the smoothest experience. If you’re prepared for potential hiccups and double-check your booking details, Czech Airlines is okay for a short hop. But if you have another airline option with better service, it might be worth considering.

No common sense and service level 0

This is about the distressing and discriminatory treatment I experienced while traveling on Flight 6H 163 from Tel Aviv to Tirana, operated by Czech Airlines on behalf of Israir Airlines on May 8, 2025.

Upon boarding the flight, I was suffering from severe sunburn on my back, and to alleviate the pain, I was using a wet T-shirt. Despite explaining my condition to a senior crew member and requesting some time to calm down, I was repeatedly told to wear the shirt. The cabin crew member was unhelpful in understanding my health situation, and a female representative (whose identity was not provided) insisted that I must wear the shirt because it was against airline rules. I attempted to engage with her to understand the reasoning behind this directive, but she refused to identify herself and failed to explain why my situation was not being considered.

At this point, I complied and put the T-shirt on, despite the discomfort it caused. I later learned that this representative had threatened to call the police if I did not comply. While I followed the airline's instructions, I was still offloaded from the plane. This was the first time I have ever been removed from a flight without any warning or valid explanation. To make matters worse, no formal report or documentation was provided to me about this incident, leaving me feeling both humiliated and unjustly treated.

I find the behavior of the airline staff to be not only inappropriate but also discriminatory, as I was forced to compromise my health in a situation where basic common sense and compassion could have been applied. The involvement of the police, without any legitimate cause or warning, was both offensive and disruptive to my travel plans.

doesn't deserve to be rated this badly xD we just have high standards. Every time I fly with them I at least think 'hey, they are cheap". And compared to some, they are not, but in general, they are pretty cost-effective. I don't think its a 5 at all, but I will bump the score up a bit I guess vs the downvote campaign, jus t to make it more fair.

Super Flug !
Wir sind von Brünn nach Marsa Alam geflogen und waren sehr skeptisch und besorgt auf Grund der vielen schlechten Bewertungen. Hinflug mit einer Smartwings Maschine und Rückflug mit Czech Airline.
Beide Flüge waren völlig in Ordnung, die Maschine sauber, das Board Personal ausgesprochen freundlich! Alles wurde in Englisch übersetzt. Der Check in hat problemlos funktioniert und das Personal am Flughafen war ebenfalls sehr nett! Macht euch keine Sorgen und genießt den Flug!!!

16hrs delay- no information given, 60+ days for claim review
If no starts is possible , would give it .
Flight got delayed by 15hrs in total, by being pushed every 2hrs for next 2 hrs , hence we could not leave airport. Airline operators in the airports highly unprofessional and could only say follow the schedule table and call support service line, when support on the phone asked to raise any questions to stuff in the airport. We were provided 8 eur voucher during 16 hrs delay, no information given about other benefits during such long delay. Time to review claim and provide compensation is 60+days. This company is not about customer neither servise. Well done ČSA!

Du racket pur et simple

Sans prévenir lors de la réservation, la compagnie ne compte qu'un bagage à main lors de la réservation. Ce qui signifie pas de sac à dos possible par exemple. Tout le monde se retrouve à payer 55€ à la porte de l'avion, qui décollera en retard. Et l'amabilité du personnel à l'aéroport...un scandale, première et dernière fois avec ce compagnie.

Terrible staff very unprofessional impolite and rude toward the passengers avoid of any cost flying with Czech Airline the level of stress they put on passengers is unbelievable for no reason. Terrible supervisor on duty she was laughing at situation and passing by.

Attention à éviter !

Attention à éviter !
Attente interminable pour pouvoir s'enregistrer (1h30 dans la file).
Quand tout est (enfin) enregistré, l'ensemble des passagers attend 30min, 1h, 2h, 3h sans information, l'avion étant décalé mais sans précision sur la raison ou le temps restant.
Catastrophique !!
Certains passagers m'ont confié qu'ils avaient déjà pris cette compagnie et que c'était toujours aussi désastreux..

Not reliable. Avoid at all cost

Absolutely not reliable. I booked 4 flights with them in May and June 2024 between Paris and Prague for business. Only one landed on time. One was cancelled due to technical problem on the plane after waiting 2h onboard with little information. 2 where simply cancelled without bothering providing explanation. For one of them I was informed only 6h before departure. So Czech Airlines, if you read this, be assured that from now on, I will carefully avoid you when booking my travel. You simply don't care about your customers.

Vol aller en retard et vol retour annulé

Voyage paris vers Prague le 02 juin 2024 par czeck Airlines départ prévu a 15h20 retardé de 2h ça arrive. Puis comme on est en retard à Prague vous avez droit à ''vos bagages ne sont pas prioritaires due au retard de votre avion'' donc 2h30 de plus pour récupérer ma valise. Je me dit c'est pas grave ça arrive.
Voyage retour le 15 juin 2024 a 12h25. J'arrive a l'aéroport a 10h00 j'apprends que l'avion a 30 minutes de retard je me dis je suis un chat noir lol. Arrivé au guichet on m'annonce vol annulé on vous rebooke sur le suivant a 17h30 pour arriver a Paris a 19h45. Merci mais mon train a Paris pour Poitiers est mort 80€ de SNCF qui ne sont pas remboursables et plus de train libre avant dimanche le lendemain a 19h00 a Montparnasse pour 170€ et hôtel 120€ et RER pour aller Montparnasse. Donc merci mon épouse qui va faire 4h de route aller et 4h retour pour me chercher essence plus péage 150€ c'est moins que le train. J'espère que tout ira bien.
Petite mise a jour nouveau vol retardé au départ de 30 minutes j'espère qu'il partira.

Je n'aime pas dire ça mais je déconseille a ceux qui ont besoin d'horaire précis.

“Discount” airline ends up expensive

Discount” airline that ends up full price after all the extra charges. Rude, unprofessional staff. Unreliable flights. Uncomfortable seats.

Food is expensive and lousy. You need to pay to sit next to your spouse. We were charged 43 euros *each* to check our carry-on which they claimed was above their limit. We’d checked it for free many times on many airlines because it’s only a small carry on.

Uncaring and rude staff. We arrived at counter 3 hours before flight and were told checkin starts at 2 hours. Wasted an hour and returned to a huge lineup. Checkin clerk got in a big fight with customer in front of us. Perhaps took it out on us.

Arrived at gate and saw flight delayed by 90 minutes when we had a 100 minute connection. In the end flight was 2.5 hours kate.

Next flight was waiting for us and many other connecting passengers. Passengers had boarded on time and waited on plane for 90 minutes for us. Crew refused them water with excuse of limited supply. Crew made an announcement blaming connecting passengers for delay.

Vorrei dare Zero per due punti

Vorrei dare Zero per due punti. 1) Non prenotate mai pick-up aeroporto. 2) Prenotazione posto a pagamento non funziona. Andiamo in dettaglio. 1) Abbiamo prenotato pick-up aeroporto (Burgas in Bulgaria) tramite Czech Airlines. All'arrivo, un'autista e' venuto con ritardo senza citare esplicitamente il nostro nome. Per il ritorno, la regola era di riconfermare il giorno primo telefonando. Nessuno risponde per 6 ore, neanche il giorno stesso e abbiamo preso un taxi. Scrivendo via mail a Czech Airlines, non ho mai ricevuto la risposta. Serieta' zero. 2) Ho pagato per prenotare i posti al momento di prenotazione, ma quando ho visto la prenotazione dopo, non risultava che i posti sono stati assegnati.
*Insomma, dove possibile si evita.

Du racket pur et simple

Du racket pur et simple! Lors d un voyage avec escale de cette compagnie, celle ci vous raquette en vous enregistrant au départ pour les 2 vols ( pre enregistrement internet impossible auparavant ). Arrivé au second vol ( pour moi au départ de Prague ) ils ne vous laissent pas embarquer sans supplément bagage ( plus de 50 euros par sac à dos et personne) sous prétexte que vous n avez pas droit au second bagage. Nous nous sommes retrouvés une quinzaine de français dans ce cas au départ de Prague … rien à faire CB ou vous ne partez pas ! En plus ils sont bien évidemment de mauvaise fois et mal aimable … Fuyez!

Pas une 2ème fois

Notre vol était retardé de 3h le 04/09/2023. J´ai commencé à deposer une 1ère demande de remboursement le 12/09/2023 sur leur site internet sans aucune réponse. 4 demandes deposées jusqu`à ce jour et toujours la silence. Un email de confirmation recu suite à chaque envoie: votre demande va etre traité dans les meilleurs delais...
PS: Aujourhui j´ai essayé à nouveau pour faire la demande et par miracle j´étais envoyée vers un nouvel interface de la reclamation, le système m´a informé que le delais pour demander le remboursement est le 03/03/2024. Ce n´est pas très honnete ca!

My flights got cancelled 3 times.. They refuse to reimburse the flights from because it's still departing. After reaching them for the 5th time they refunded me, i am gonna give two stars for this. I am not happy.

Son unos sin vergüenzas

Son unos sin vergüenzas , cancelaron los vuelos, se declararon en quiebra ( seguían operando porque mandaban ofertas ), no me han reembolsado nada del dinero que yo pague. En definitiva, la peor empresa con la que me he tropezado.

A fuir. *Worst compagny*

A fuir. Plus d'une heure de retard, à l'aller comme au retour. Aucune excuse de leur part ou de geste client (nous proposer de l'eau par exemple). De plus, la compagnie nous demande de mettre nos bagages cabines en soute, sans nous laisser le choix, alors qu'on est les premiers de la file.... A 350€ l'aller retour pour moins de 2h de vol, c'est honteux d'avoir un service tel que celui-ci.
