Our experience with Douglass Allen was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. When selling our house, the property was not put on the market for three weeks and was not listed on Rightmove in a timely manner, causing unnecessary delay from the outset.

We were not kept informed of interest in our property at any point, and communication throughout the process was shockingly poor. On one occasion, we specifically asked for a viewing to be cancelled, yet this was not done and a viewer turned up at our home unexpectedly, which was completely unacceptable.

The member of staff handling our sale was off work for weeks, and during that time we were left completely in the dark with no proactive updates or handover. When I eventually called to chase an update, I spoke to someone who was extremely rude and unhelpful, which only added to the frustration.

To make matters worse, keys were released to the buyers before we had confirmed that we had vacated the property, resulting in them turning up before we had even left. This was a serious breach of professionalism and caused significant stress.

Overall, the lack of communication, poor organisation, and disregard for basic procedures made this a very upsetting experience. I would not recommend Douglass Allen based on our experience.

We purchased a house through Douglas Allen and although solicitors and the legal process made it extremely stressful, the team at Douglas Allen were brilliant. It started with Ann-Marie making sure we visited ‘our house’ and finished with the indomitable Dawn going over and beyond to make sure we made the correct decision and was on-hand with any help or requests. After using Douglas Allen to purchase our first ever home together and having exceptional service, we decided to use them again when it was time to resell our property and upsize. The listing process was very well explained to us by Alex, and we managed to sell our property just 1 month after listing it, despite it being a very quiet time of year. Unfortunately our process was a long one… it took nearly 11 months in the end as our chain fell through at point of exchange. However Natasha kept chasing the situation regularly and persisted until we finally managed to complete at the beginning of this month (July 2025). Huge thanks to everyone involved at the Wickford branch, we really do appreciate all the efforts made to help us secure our dream home.

Brilliant service from viewing the property to getting our offer accepted!

We contacted Caroline to view a property on Friday and was booked in for the next day! Caroline was a pleasure to speak to, her responses were clear and super quick.

After our offer was accepted, we briefly dealt with Morgan who was very friendly and helpful. Although we didn’t use Morgan as our mortgage broker, I have no doubt that he would have done an amazing job.

We also had brief dealing with Alex. Alex was great, always on hand for questions and very helpful.

Every time I called up with a question - someone was always able to help me. I did not speak to one person who was unhelpful.

Overall, I would highly recommend Douglas & Allen. Especially Caroline, who was an absolute pleasure!

I’d like to thank everyone for their help. As first time buyers, it can be stressful and scary but Douglas & Allen put us at ease after the first call.

Douglas Allen was able to sell our house faster than 2 previous agents we were with. We spoke with many helpful colleagues at the Chadwell Heath branch. One of the main people we spoke to was Bilal. He was very helpful and friendly and always made sure things were upto date and communicated in a very polite and kind manner.

We recently purchased a property via Douglas Allen Woodford Green.
We were shown around the property by a young man called James. He was great, kept us informed and updated. Great communication but then he was let go. After this the communication was not great and it was clear that Douglas Allen was working for the seller. Not a great experience until I met Dawn, wow the last month was so much better and what you would expect when buying a house.

Dawn regularly called me and kept me informed, questions I asked was promptly responded. Kind, friendly and great communication Dawn 😀.

When buying a property it’s people like Dawn you want to work with to help an already stressful process run as smooth as possible

What can we say. Horrendous experience. Don't use steer away. Go for it do it yourselves. Save Money Douglas Allen . More like do less Allen. Don't waist your time. Forgot to mention Hornchurch Branch and manager David Nil point.

My personal experience with Douglas Allen was very positive.
Although I didn't end up buying a property through them as I decided to move to another part of London.
Having registered with most of the local estate agents, Douglas Allen were by far the best.
I would like to highlight two staff members in particular. Remel who I explained what property I was looking for Remel tried extremely hard to match my requirements. If something came onto the market Remel would call me provide me with details, send information and then follow up to see what I thought. It was this personal touch that I personally liked, other estate agents just sent me things, hoping something would stick I just felt like I was on a conveyor belt and not a valued customer. Remel really gave me the impression he was trying his hardest to find me what I wanted.
Ann-Marie was a star showed me around a couple of properties, didn't pressure me or give me the hard sell, was very relaxed and made me feel at ease, also opened my eyes to potential of a property should I be interested in buying. These were the personal touches that set Douglas Allen apart from the other estate agents in my book. I would definitely recommend Douglas Allen.

Terrible estate agents. Manager (gregg) is rude and unprofessional. Everything I asked was agreed then he done what he wanted to do. Stay away. You will thank me later. Douglas Allen are the kinda company that give estate agents a bad name.
