Here is my experience with the Efoldi scooter

I saw the Efoldi scooter in an advertisement on Facebook and got quite excited. It looked very practical. It looked ideal for my elderly Mum. When I went to Youtube and looked at a video of someone demonstrating it - it became immediately obvious that for the vast majority of disabled people it was not going to be suitable at all.

The leg position is comparable to that of a child's tricycle! Not many disabled people can lift their legs high enough to balance them on a small piece of metal attached to the front wheel! That is after the user has managed to step OVER the central bar.

I raised this with Efoldi in the comments on the advertisement. Other people have also raised similar issues and these are all met with long rambling replies justifying their product. One of their customer service representatives (Melanie) regularly pretends to be a user to counter some negative comments.

They told me that the EFOLDI LITE had a more normal footrest and was perfect for people who can't manage to get their legs up by their ears. Great, I thought. I'll check it out.

Unfortunately, the EFOLDI LITE has had to have ALL of its first production run units RECALLED as they have an intermittent fault.They were sold to customers but are not reliable.

That was it for me. An unreliable scooter would be a potential disaster leaving someone stranded. I decided not to purchase from this company until they have a proven track record.

Many thousands of customers have chosen eFOLDi for their mobility solution and find it perfect for their needs. It sounds as if it may not have been suitable for your mother. No single mobility product is ever suitable for everybody and that’s exactly why we invite people to take advantage of our no obligation home demonstration of all our main products before making any financial commitments.

Regarding Melanie posting on Facebook – she actually made it very clear that she is our employee and her profile stated that she was eFOLDi Customer Services. Many of our customers reached out to us out of office hours and it would be hard to censure our staff for being so enthusiastic about the product that they use their evenings and weekends to help out people asking questions on Facebook.

In respect of the eFOLDi Lite launch, we did encounter some potential difficulties for the first production batches due to the fact that our engineers were not allowed into factories during Covid lockdowns. Rather than leaving it as longer term risk for our customers we decided a product recall was the best solution to ensure our customers had a safe and reliable product.
Our products are improving everyday and we sincerely hope you will consider us for a future purchase.

They take advantage of gullible disabled people

I’m a chronically ill person who was looking for a nice looking scooter to use on pavements in a fairly hilly town. The EFoldi aesthetics is quite pleasing and the battery is just strong enough to manage some slopes. However, once I received the scooter, things got complicated. The manual was not very clear so I tried watching the video tutorials, but the demonstrations were too fast and there were no captions for the hearing impaired. None of their videos have captions and they keep telling me they are working on it. Honestly, how long can it take?

I couldn’t find the charger so had to get in touch via email with customer service.. I managed to fold the scooter out but it was so exhausting, I still haven’t worked out how to fold it back in. I do plan to take it in the car but have not tried it yet, as I am not sure how I’ll manage it as a single person. I’ve driven it to town but I did find it quite difficult to steer at first - the footrest and the steering wheel are in one piece and so you have to be quite adept to keep it under control. It would be of no use to people with poor strength in their hands, and in fact I currently have a wrist problem which makes it a little hard. When you drive, you feel as though it’s going to fall over, but it probably won’t. It’s something to get used to. I also had some issues with loud beeping sounds (reverse and warning) that hurt my ears but I can be mindful of not accidentally turning them on.

There was a free three month insurance policy which I wanted to activate until I’d worked something else out, but it required using the phone. I suffer from Hyperacusis (pain from noise) and so I had to try and sort it via email. Due to confusions on their part, it was a tedious process, as well, and the people I dealt with did their job but were not overly friendly.

On the company’s facebook page, they were advertising a bag and a cushion. The eFoldi seat is very uncomfortable for me because there’s a huge gap between the seat and the back rest, and the distance between the foot rest and the back rest is much too great for a small person like me. When I expressed interest, customer service got in touch with me privately and asked me to send a cheque. I’m Scandinavian so I don’t do cheques. I had to do a tedious bank transfer instead.

On receiving the items, I found the bag fit for purpose but not really worth as much as I had paid for it. The cushion was an Aidept wheel chair cushion which you had to turn the wrong way in order to use in this particular seat. There are strings on both sides for attaching it to a wheelchair but it obviously doesn’t work on the EFoldi because the strings end up on one side only when you turn it the wrong way. The price was vastly inflated as you can get the same cushion for a lot less (almost half) online. I was dismayed as I had imagined the cushion would be made for EFoldi and so I sent it back. The company refuse to refund the shipping costs as they deny there’s anything wrong with the cushion. They also lied to me in an email that accessories for disabled people are not VAT exempt.

I don’t know why they don’t just sell their accessories (other than batteries and chargers) on their website in a normal way. I have learnt never ever to do transactions behind the scenes again like this.

Unfortunately, like so many other people I wanted to trust and believe in this company but they take advantage of disabled people like so many other companies do. This review rating reflects my loss of confidence in their goodwill. I feel very sad because I wanted to love my purchase.

a great little scooter

Had their rep meet me at my brother in laws house with a demo scooter to see if he could fix an extension for my leg that wont bend fully he waited patiently while he tried various things when my brother said no problem Kevin helped me buy it but no pressure at all. The scooter is brilliant great for the bus and train as well as the car off to southport by coach soon with my efoldi
Highly recommend.

Really pleased I decided to buy an…EFOLDI

Really pleased I decided to buy an eFOLDI. It is a fantastic mobility scooter and enables me to go out on long trips that I would not be able to otherwise. It is so compact powerful robust & small when folded that it takes up no space in home or car. Thoroughly recommend to anyone.

Fabulous company with an amazing product

Some time ago we saw one of these scooters, looked into it, liked the idea but were nervous about the money involved. Our scooter cost over 3 times what it replaced.
We took a drive and met Sumi for a demonstration that really was very relaxed and no hard sell but we bought one before we left.

Over the time we have had it we have been so impressed with what it can do but also with the company. They really are a family and I have not received better customer service anywhere else.

When we have had problems they have always been at the end of the phone, doing their best to help as quickly as possible. I’m not sure how the other review can blame them for what a delivery company did but from my experience these guys are legendary at helping you out. They treat their customers like family and have every right to be proud of the product they are selling.

We are very proud efoldi owners and would definitely recommend this company to anyone who is looking for something lighter and more portable than any other mobility aids on the market.

Hungary ,housebound almost broke let down by enfoldi

I ordered an efoldi power wheelchair it will be delivered Thursday I was told
Arrive back from bank Tuesday it had been delivered by dpd courier to our neighbour
Neighbour and elderly husband struggle to get box to our home
Enourmous box damaged wheel of chair broken in two I ring efoldi ok will replace it tomorrow
Stay in all day ring enfoldi lunch time yes it is coming today
4 pm no delivery no collection of enormous heavey damaged box damaged chair
Given number by enfoldi of dpd courier in Eccles no not us say Eccles it’s london but we are in Manchester no it’s london

London ( Croydon) dpd driver tried to deliver has left a a card
No card well he took a photo which was sent to me that’s my neighbours house not mine oh say dpd it’s the angle. yours is the house for sale really my house for sale did secret Cedrick advertise
it because my house is not for sale that’s the house he delivered to Tuesday

But you can just see my car in our drive in the corner

Oh say dpd but he left a card no card did the front garden ants capture the card and carry it off to ant land?

Croydon say driver has gone home can’t deliver Denton dpd say driver still on road what!

More calls to enfoldi - we are ringing them now about the photograph
Talk about avoiding the issue I need the wheelchair I need access to food and drink when will I get the wheelchair and this enormous heavy box collected - I will ring them now about the photo say Efoldi I restrain myself quietly scream into my hankie I need the wheelchair that I was assured I would have today and access to food and drink

No wheelchair which is desparetly needed as I am severely disabled
And we cannot access our kitchen or sitting room or dining room as we cannot move the enormous heavey box I need to eat i’m diabetic.

Well the driver did try - are you listening to me we have been here all day ,driver did not come - my husband severely hearing impaired has has amplification equipment -doorbell sounds in every room and he has personal amplification equipment around his neck he sat in the hall with the front door open and eon engineer was here about our smart meter so how did he miss the driver calling ? Just not possible
And we have three dogs not a peep think they would not sound like the hounds of hell if the driver actually came

So to sum up enfoldi promised nay contracted I would have my expensive wheelchair today and the damaged one collected
Contract breached no wheelchair no collection

Several calls to enfoldi eventually they deserted me and went home
Left me with no access to food and drink no wheelchair
,housebound
so no matter all the raving reviews about the enfoldi scooter and power chair if you are left housebound, hungry unable to access rooms n Your home because they use an appalling courier don’t believe me read the reviews on dpd
So enfoldi you took £2399 from me part of my little life savings pot said I would have my chair Wednesday you all went home leaving me
Hungary and housebound without even a final call

Hope the enfoldi staff had a good dinner because I will be Hungary tonight hoping that this diabetic. can survive the night leaving a very worried 70 year old husband frightened his wife will collapse if she does not eat

If enfoldi had used a reliable courier who did not damage items did not photograph the wrong house did leave a card at the correct house did in fact come to the correct house.i might be able to eat tonight get at my medication in the kitchen and have a wheelchair

And I do not know when I will have my wheelchair and access to food and drink and pain medication you went home left me with a massive problem Hungary, distressed ,housebound in severe pain I had to scrape and will have to go without to purchase the wheelchair I cannot use a manual chair this was to be my freedom my independence not pain and hunger
