I cannot recommend Farrell Heyworth based on my experience.
I applied for a property that was advertised as available immediately, paid a holding deposit, passed all reference checks and progressed through the application process. Throughout that process I was discussing my notice period on my existing tenancy, move-in arrangements and even furniture for the property, giving every indication that the tenancy was progressing. Just a side note that FH told me that I could hand my notice in and that there was a move in date so I handed my notice in, alas...the move in date didn't happen... TWICE.
Instead, I was left waiting for weeks without a confirmed move-in date, receiving conflicting explanations and ultimately being told the landlord had withdrawn the property from the rental market.
Had it not been for the understanding and flexibility shown by my current landlord and estate agency, I could have been left without accommodation. They were the ones who prevented me from becoming homeless after my planned move fell through. If my current estate agency found another tenant for my property, I would be homeless right now.
I was also disappointed by the way my complaint was handled. Rather than demonstrating empathy for the impact this situation had on my life, the final response focused heavily on criticising the tone of my emails. I found the response patronising and dismissive, particularly given the significant stress and uncertainty I had experienced. These were from Nathan in particular and also Imogen and Meghan. Zero apology whatsoever from any of them.
I appreciate that circumstances can change and that landlords can make decisions outside an agent's control. However, the communication, management of my application and overall customer service fell well below the standard I expected. I have referred the matter to The Property Ombudsman.

2/3 times on social media in a 15 month period
Photos that look like my young children have taken and they expect over £300 for that
0 viewers over 15 months and when enquiries have been made they have been scared off by the million affordability questions they get asked
Also no follow up when enquiries have been made
I could go on about this company!!!

Still attempting to get my house sale through and purchase of my new property
The main issue is the complete lack of communication unless it’s myself ringing up for updates.
Fully appreciate some things are out of our control but I thought basic communication would be the minimum.
I spent time emailing the person who was dealing with me to only get an automatic email saying they had left the business.
One day hopefully this whole saga will be over

I would not use Farewell and Heyworth again and would advise others to be aware.
My experience throughout the process was disappointing. What initially felt like regular communication and support turned into pressure to accept offers that were well below what had been discussed. After months of little progress, it felt like the focus shifted to selling the property for the sake of it rather than acting in my best interests.
There were also unexpected fees not made clear at the outset, including a £300 charge for services I would expect to be included in the marketing. They are aware of this from previous reviews spanning several years, yet there does not appear to be any effort to clearly highlight this to sellers.
Make sure to read reviews, look online, and do your own research. Lesson learned for me.
Overall, I would urge others to read all documents carefully before proceeding.

Special shoutouts to Gemma Read in Lancaster Sales Progression who was super quick with responses. Also to John Holloway in the Morecambe office - I believe that his advice to both ourselves and our buyers kept things on track with the second sale.

We recently used Alison Whiteside to progress the sale of a property through Farrell Heyworth. I can only say she's a very, very professional person with attention to detail and a very good work ethic. We would have no hesitation in recommending Alison to anyone who is selling their property.

After trying to increase the rent yet again just before the 1st May changes Farrell Heyworth have now placed the house we are in up for rent way below the previous continually increasing rental amount being paid by my wife and I. When questioned an excessive email response once again blaming the landlord was received, in which legal obligations and court action were also referenced. Awful communication to receive as a current customer! Having read other reviews across a myriad of review platforms, including staff feedback on the Glassdoors website, it is clear that this company has zero understanding of Treating Customers Fairly or basic customer service in general. I have no doubt that once a new tenant is in this poorly maintained property situated in Leyland they will continue to increase the rent way above a fair value once again (with the current rent being advertised being way above this properties value). I write this review to warn others to go with other estate agents in the North West/Leyland area - my wife highly recommends New Lease who provided great customer service to her for almost a decade. This is a warning for landlords too, who Farrell Heyworth openly blame for essential repairs not being carried out and for consistent, excessive rent increases. Our experience, along with other recent tenants we have spoken , has been beyond awful - consistently leasing properties in poor condition that are propped up with extremely poor repair work. The poor repair work is not due to the contractors, with many being highly skilled tradespeople, but the instruction for them to do the least amount possible when they finally do instruct them. My wife and I had to pay for several essential repairs when we first moved in due to Farrell Heyworths inaction, who did continually blame the landlord. In addition to this they also admit to providing information about regulatory changes after they have been implemented, leaving zero time for tenants to make information based decisions, leading to more money being lost by tenants. Save your money and sanity and do not rent from Farrell Heyworth....we never will again!
*** Yet again a poor response received that accepts no responsibility and/or states how they are going to make restitution for the continued service failings and non existent support provided to my family and I. I have also reviewed and noted feedback from landlords regarding Farrell Heyworth online too - it appears that both tenants and landlords are treated questionably by this so called estate agent...definitely worth reading the 1 star reviews before doing business with this company...or simply don't do business with this company and save yourself the headache and expense ***

Alison Whiteside was absolutely brilliant acting as an intermediary between ourselves, our solicitor and the buyers solicitor. It was really quite a stressful time as the buyers solicitor did not seem to be bothered about how long it took. Without her determination we might easily have given up on the house sale.

Sold 2 houses with Farrell Heyworth when I decided it was time to leave the rental market. The first was sold almost immediately and the sale went through without any flaws. However the second house was a lot more involved and although it sold fairly quickly the sale took an age to get to completion. However I would like to say a big thankyou to our sales progressor Alison Whiteside. The main spanner in the works was the buyers solicitors who, to say dragged their feet, is an understatement!
At times it felt like the sale was not going to happen but through Allison's endeavour along with her professionalism and understanding of our situation she finally got the sale over the line.
She was always there for us, giving her assurances that she would do everything in her power to make sure this sale would happen. To say she went above and beyond is an understatement. If any body gets you as their sales progressor they can rest assured that the completion of the sale is in the bag!
Thanks again Allison, Farrell Heyworth should be very honoured that you are a part of their team.

I am doing this review because of the excellent service i received from Alison Whiteside during the period. I was purchasing my current property without her assistance and persistence in both purchasing and selling my property's. Alison was key in me been now settled in my current property I can tell you how much Alison did over and above for me and how her help has changed I my life going forward I am really the day my case was passed to Alison she could have give more help and assistance to me. and I am sure she does this for everyone she deals with. So on conclusion Alison for me should be considered as an outstanding member of staff and deserves all the praise she gets.

My experience with Farrell Hayworth was nothing but great! During a very difficult process Alison Whiteside was phenomenal. Our hero over the 9 months our sale took as there was an issue out of all our control but she has made sure we finally get over the line. I would 100% recommend!
