To say I am raging is an understatement, my elderly father 88 years old has had £399 taken from his account in January. The only thing we can link it back to is a phone call saying he had won on the postcode lottery late last year and a holiday to follow this year, no details given, all would be revealed in the post. I did question if he had given any details and he said no at first but it turns out his sort code. Now a DD has been set up at his bank which I can assure you he didn’t do or authorise and the money has been taken. How can these people sleep, my dad doesn’t have that sort of money and it’s beyond me how easily these things can be set up. Something needs to be done, I called the company and they keep bleating on about a membership which I made very clear he didn’t agree too. And it’s not just the money angle to this, it’s the embarrassment and shame that he has been tricked, which no one should have to go through or feel. If I could get my hands on them.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!! £399.95 has been debited from my account by SM Lifestyle and have no idea who they are. I received a letter from Lifestyle Perks, again, no idea how they got my details congratulating me for qualifying for a free 12 month dining card. Well not free if they debit £400 nearly 😡

been scammed by and now waiting for bank to refund my 399.95.

Scam company. I noticed £1 taken from my account in January by an unknown company but forgot to investigate at the time. Then a couple of weeks later they took £399 from my account which got my full attention. Phoned the bank immediately and reported them. The bank is now investigating them.

Guys please be careful
Got a letter from these people this morning. Rang the number to ask who they were. I wouldn't give the membership number on the letter as I didn't want the guy to know who I was. Since then I have looked in my bank account to see a direct debit has been set up without my consent... HOW?
Have cancelled the DD and will go to bank tomorrow to report it
Watch out

These people are thieves. Same here did not notice the £1 they took out on the 1st of Jan, 2022, only to notice £399 debited out of my account today..!!
Don't know who they are, Never spoken to anyone from this company, never signed any direct debit consent!!! Why would I fork out such amount of money for lifestyle in these austere times..????
Thieves, people with no souls!!!
Called the bank!!!!

My 82 year old mother who is hard of hearing and partially sighted, was rang three times and bullied into giving her bank details for a "prize" she had won. I have power of attorney for her and work in the law dealing with the elderly and am a dementia friend. This type of thing has to be stopped please. She did not give her debit card details and did not agree to a direct debit, but if I had not been dealing with some of her recent bills, then she would not have noticed the £1 that had come out of her account and a direct debit set up on her account by SM Lifestyle Perks. I asked her about it and she showed me a discount card pack she had received and in small print at the bottom it said they would take her membership of £399.95 after the fourteen day trial. What 82 year old, who is partially sighted, hard of hearing and has onset dementia and a very tight budget, needs discounts on flights, holidays and dining out. Really? The direct debit has been cancelled and an appointment has been made at the bank. Tomorrow I will email them from my law firm, their email is given on their answerphone, explaining they have been reported, they have set up a direct debit instruction without consent, and they have tricked a vulnerable adult. I will also phone them and write to them with the details in the pack. My mother's housing benefit went into today and they would have taken that. I can't tell you how angry this makes me. After speaking with mum it seems she received three odd calls and they have obviously called and asked her odd questions and recorded her saying "yes" etc.. My poor sweet little mother wept like a baby when she realised, not only was she not going to get £399 but they were going to take it off her instead. Beware people they have NO scruples.

Fuming
Had £1 taken on the 18th of Jan witch we didn't notice and had a notification from the bank to say we were over drawn. They have taken £399.00 called the bank and was told not to put any money in. The money will ping back after 2.30pm. And the DD that have set up has been cancelled

Rang bank to make them aware of any scam relating to this company. Checked my direct debits, and there they were.. Added themselves to my account! Cheeky sods. Deleted DD.
Becareful people!! #lifestyleperks

I received a call from this company telling me that I was the lucky winner of a prize of £399 and that I could benefit from lots of discounts including supermarkets and big name stores. They just required my bank sort code and account number to pay in the money. I was of course sceptical but the scheme sounded plausible and they were keen to point out that no money could be taken from my account without the security number from the reverse of the card. There was absolutely no mention of a direct debit being set up from my account or indeed that the scheme would cost me anything to belong to. I was told that I would receive by post an official proposal giving all the details for me to peruse. This duly arrived a couple of days later and when I read it and learned that they actually wanted to charge me £14-99 per month alarm bells rang. I got in touch with my bank and told them what had transpired and that I had not agreed to a direct debit ( I didn't even know that one could be set up without my specific approval but apparently it's just a tick in a box that can be filled in on the company's banking software). The bank said that it would block an attempt to set up this particular direct debit and that actually no fraud had taken place as I was quick enough off the mark to flag up the situation and of course they can't act on anything to remove the ability of this company to create direct debits which seems outrageous. Fortunately I haven't suffered any loss but what's to stop this happening again? There seems to be a flaw in the approval system somewhere!
Customer Services of Lifestyles Perks were duly emailed to confirm my rejection of the scheme and were also called to reinforce the email. They suggested that the company hadn't called me - untrue! Also they tried to claim that I had been informed that a direct debit would be set up - untrue!!
So please don't be sucked in as whilst the discount scheme looks to be worthwhile how can you believe a company that uses such devious sales techniques. My concern is for those who may not have read the small print and would they have actually received the £399 into their account - I very much doubt it!

Scam company. Just had to cancel a DD to stop a payment.

Resposta da Lifestyle Perks
Same as others on here, must have already had my info from somewhere as I never handed any over!!
I was told I'd won a prize and they'd post it out to me, already had my address, just asked me to confirm!
Few weeks later, £1 out my bank and DD set up! Scammers!

This is a scam company that makes you think you've won a membership to qualify for discount in many shops. Then once they get hold of your account number, by tricking you I might add, asking you for different numbers of your bank account, throughout a long conversation set up a direct debit without authorisation. Then take £1.00 test fee, then try to take large chunks of money. They almost got away with £200 from me. Luckily I noticed intime, some others won't be that lucky. AVOID THIS COMPANY!!

Resposta da Lifestyle Perks
Pity you can't give minus as this company are scammers. Took £1 spotted it and cancelled DD due to not knowing what it was for. Avoid and put phone down when they tell you you've won £399 and ask for bank details. Oh plus a holiday and a free flight.
