We had all our sash windows refurbished and painted. This entailed a complete overhaul including replacing all the fittings and sash cords, installing draught proofing and realigning to ensure a good secure close and fit. This also reduces the noise transference from outside. It's like having double glazing.
The quote was competitive and the staff (not subcontractors) were very reliable, considerate and pleasant people throughout the process and we are very happy with the outcome.

I had confidence that the job would be completed at the highest level, and it was.

We had a cracked glazing pane in our upper sash and a rusty, decaying corner joint in our lower sash, in the 1st floor master bedroom of our West Hampstead home.
We contacted around 8 local glaziers to try to find someone to replace the cracked glass – we either received no response, were told we were outside their area or they simply declined to quote.
We then contacted 9 sash window companies. Phew – what a rigmarole to progress a simple enquiry! 1 failed to respond, 1 declined to quote, 2 said they would contact us to arrange a survey (but failed to do so), 1 refused to survey and did his level best to dissuade us from working with him. Of the 4 remaining, 1 was twice the price of anyone else, another was fully booked for at least the next 3 months, which left just Mortice & Green (M&G) and one other as serious contenders.
We chose M&G because:
1. Marta in the office responded to us promptly, was friendly and positive in saying M&G could help us, set up a rapid survey and sounded organised
2. despite us asking for things to be done in the way we wished, as opposed to the way M&G usually did things – surveyor, Jon, patiently listened and made notes and suggestions, then turned round our quote very rapidly, dealing with subsequent queries and further requests efficiently, before actually arriving on site on the start date, shortly after the woodworker, to go over the job with him personally
3. in spite of a long order book, M&G managed to squeeze us into their schedule within a week of the survey, completing the work in just over a day
4. their prices appeared to represent reasonable value for money and were competitive
5. they offered a 3 year warranty on their work
6. they agreed to remove, then re-instate, our existing secondary double glazing
Subsequently, the glazing repair was efficiently dealt with by the willing and friendly Christian (although I personally think M&G should be using a 3C Sealants paintable glazing putty, not the 3C Sealants Glazing Putty Silicone, which states on the packaging ‘Not paintable’), who then went on to effect a robust repair to the corner joint by splicing in two pieces of hardwood, combined with epoxy resin, before installing draughtstripping.
We’re now awaiting the return of our decorator to finish our decorations.
Apart from thinking it would be nice to be able to pay by card, most other angles were satisfactorily addressed by M&G, all things considered, and I would be happy to have them back to carry out further work, in the future.

I admit to being hopeful, but not 100% convinced things would go well. Quoting was great, but after we place the order there was a lot of simence befire eventually we got an email saying we were on next week - if you could improve comms in this phase it would be great. However we have been blown away by the quality of the doors, the amazing fitting process and the attention to detail - it really looks like our 100 year old doors, except we have no heat loss now. Just amazing fitters and amazing product. We are getting ready for our next piece of work now - A huge thank you to the team for amazing work, amazing product

Professional approach from the company. Radek did an excellent job on the restoration of the windows.

We shopped around for a company to repair two sash windows and got totally messed about by people either over quoting or never getting back to us having done a site visit.

Mortice & Green were the complete opposite having seen their can parked in out street and made a note of their number. They came round in 24 hours, were straightforward, honest and helpful, gave us a very competitive quote, did the job the following week without having any to be chased, which they did really well and solved all our window problems. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.

Came to quote. Engineer did admitted was unfamiliar with the type of window. Proceeded to use brute force to try to overcome a safety catch despite me pointing out what was preventing window from opening. Proceeded to cause damage rather than remove two screws. Have since stopped responding to emails regarding the issue.

Have had 5 windows installed to date. Windows were delivered on time and look great. I've had neighbours ask me who supplied them. Radek was very professional and conscientious.

The work was carried out tidily and on time. Pleasant staff but not very prompt in updating eg start dates for work

Window installers were excellent - punctual, friendly, neat, capable, and generally very helpful. Scope of work was well defined. Liaison with office worked well. I would use MG again.
