This Bank takes pride in saying they’re the biggest Black own bank in the United States, but at the same time, they have high fees, and now the fee for maintenance for the savings account is $10.00; it used to be $5.00 a month. Their overdraft fee policies need to be investigated by federal and state regulators, not just the BBB. The overdraft fee is $37.00 no matter what, and the only solution they have is to keep your account in a private balance. I have to admit that my checking account is very negative, so they charge me around $400.00 a year in overdraft fees. This is what got me one day, a company I did business with made a mistake and changed $7.00, my account, the bank charged me $37.00 because my account was in a negative balance. However, the company corrected the mistake and credited my account back $7.00, but this is the sad part: OneUnited Bank still made me pay the overdraft fee even though the $7.00 was in my checking account. I know, for a fact, that in the future, this bank will have issues with big regulators in their tactics with overdraft fees. OneUnited Bank's dispute department is horrible. They often don’t get back to you, never respond to you, and don’t give you credit to your account, no matter the situation or amount. Sometimes their customer service representatives are rude and have bad information, but they record all conversations, so it’s easy to report. They do have good managers who try to help with issues.

This is a great company to bank with, I've been with this bank since late last year & have had nothing but great experiences each time I contact them & when I'm using my card. This company has some wonderful Customer Service Representatives, and I enjoy banking with OneUnited. I have also referred a few friends to open an account.

I applied for a checking account on July 20th and was denied. Even though denied they put a hold for the $25 opening deposit on my other checking account as well as a five cent hold. After being denied I got message from them saying the funds were instantly returned and that it may take my bank a few days to put the money back into my account to contact them to make it faster. I have talked to my bank twice since and both times have been informed that One United Bank hasn't voided either transaction so both have remained in my account as pending. Any other bank account I have ever applied for a checking account to approves you before taking the money from your bank account for the opening deposit. There is no point in taking the money just to deny you. The instant I hit the submit button on the application after entering my debit card details I instantly got the message saying I was denied. Now here I am wondering where my money is with both banks basically saying it's the others fault to contact them and it's ridiculous

I have been online banking with OneUnited for some years now. I have been pleased. I recently ordered checks for my account. After the first use, they contacted me by email and phone multiple times to confirm my identity before honoring the check. They have an unparalleled layered verification system and confirmed who I was. In a world moving in haste, they made it their business to protect my interests. I applaud the systematic steps taken for my financial protection.

I never received my debit card in the mail and someone committed fraud with it. I actually called them 3 days before the fraud appeared on my account to tell them I never got it and they told me they couldn't do anything until a certain date which was the same date that all the fraud transactions occurred on my account. One United Bank refused to refund the full amount even after multiple calls and now I have had to file the case with the NYS Department of Financial Services and send them a certified letter to anyone to bother to look further into it.
Plus they contract out their fraud services and these people don't even have their business straight because I've gotten three different claim numbers one of which was never on any of the documentation that I received or given to me during any of my calls.
**An update--Three months later and I am STILL fighting with these people for my money. This is ridiculous.

I love the way it was made to be simple and easy for everyone who may not be computer savvy. Also, it was easy to make your deposit quick without having to wait a long time. Plus, the referral rewards was instantly granted. I would recommend choosing this bank to all friends and family.
