i've used Photomyne for a few years, not really a lot but it does what it says on the packet. Really good renderings of any photo, enhamncement features work well and keeps them all in photo albums.
I would say worth the price

This is the easiest and best quality photo scanning software I’ve ever used. I have used several. It also scans documents, negatives and slides! Scanning old memories is a tedious task but no longer with this product ! Easy to share as well !

Photomyne has provided my family the opportunity to interact with over 100 years of recorded images that were previously unaccessible. Posting those photos online has opened doors of communication with long lost relatives and friends. We are in your debt!

Love the tool. I had a box full of photos handed down to me at a family reunion. I already had the tools Photomyne sells with the light diffuser and click button for the phone, and it has worked great. Then, being able to call them up on the desktop makes it so much easier to edit them and annotate them. Great tool; hoping it will populate Google Photos as it has before.

I used it last year when my mom passed and it eas real handy to get pictures we used in her funeral. I also used it quite a few times with document in the last year. My year expires sept 19th and wont be renewing because at my age and no family within the passing ages and living off of social security will/is causing me to delete all my non- essentials. Its an awesome app and came with above my expectations. Thanks for being there when i really needed it

Photomyne has been great for me. I’ve been able to save photos from several years past and have found that I’ve learned more about lighting, positioning photos and organizing with Photomyne. I still have questions that I would like answered and will be contacting you for help. Thank you for a great product!

I have recently finished a project in which I digitized several boxes of family portraits and pictures that I have now organized and distributed to all family members. It provides each with a family library that can be passed down from generation to generation, providing a permanent family history. I used Photomyne to digitize each picture, streamlining my process as I went along. In addition to the Photomyne App, I used the Photomyne phone holder, camera shutter remote and lightbox. I could not be more pleased with the process and the results. Flaws in the pictures were removed, and images were sharpened. To maintain originality, I chose not to colorize the black and white ones, but all of the digitized images are high quality and serve as a lasting memorial for the family.

Very good product.... does the job BRILLIANTLY.

But it IS expensive to keep going forward ...so I won't be renewing

Note to Photomyne: why don't you offer a discounted package after 1 year? ( I suspect many users are like me: wanting to digitise a bunch of photos from pre digital days... & thereafter only expect to use very occasionally)

I have been using Photomyne now many years and over all been very happy with the results as I have many old photographs. This past week I tried to restore yet another old photograph only to find AI was used and totally destroyed the image. It was a photo taken in 1945 of myself, Father and two brothers. I now have a very colorful photo of a man, 2 boys and an adult female. I tried several other photos and got similar results.

Great app - does exactly what’s needed.
Only dropped a star as you need the paid version to easily save your scanned photos to your phone.

Otherwise love the app - it makes scanning pics on your phone a doddle.

You can take a photo or scan an old, damaged picture, and this app restores it to a quality that will absolutely blow your mind! In the past, you would have had to spend a lot of money to get this kind of high-quality result.

I am enjoying my photomyne journey overall. I have also purchased some of the accessories off of Amazon. You have to watch scanning glossy prints and I feel like it would be so helpful to have more ways to sort photos.

Following the death of both my parents, Photomyne has been fantastic for scanning the literally thousands of photos from their house.

Excellent product, I don’t know what else is out there but for me it does the trick!

Ive been using Photomyne, on the phone app, desktop, and PRO for a little over a year. Heres my review. In the beginning, I was in love with it. The ease in taking pics of photo prints -- that were automatically cropped, rotated and sharpened/enhanced -- was a mind blower. Still is. But as the work progressed, Ive realized many shortcomings along with these revolutionary features.

First let me state that I am a graphic designer well versed in image retouching and processing with 35 years of photoshop behind me. Photoshop is much better at it than Photomyne, but each photo and action must be taken manually (batch processing is an option but not for a wide variety of exposures, off colors and subject matter) So Photomyne initially -- and still -- impresses as a quick, sophisticated solution to digitizing our loose prints easily up to a certain level of quality from the usual poor state of 30 year old photo prints taken with non-professional cameras back then.

As Ive been using the app, Ive been frustrated with many features. Here are my notes on problematic aspects of Photomyne that need to be -- or should be -- addressed, for you to stay ahead of all the other AI driven photo enhancing apps now available.

1) Sharpy only does the faces. Why isn't there an option to sharpen the entire image? or everything except the faces?
2) Sharpy too often goes too far and relies too heavily on AI, resulting in faces that look weird, over processed, plasticcy and often no longer look like the actual people in them (which is a problem because this is a family photo project tool and we who know each face intimately and can see when the AI makes them unrecognizable or with way too much makeup, etc. Other apps like Topaz have addressed this plastic look by adding back grain and grime making images more realistic.

3) Sometimes Sharpy leave an "outline" around the face area, like a rectangle shape.. that has to be fixed.

4) You need to add a manual "spot healing brush" to fix spots and other issues in the images. And also a feature that retouches the entire image, fixing rips, tears spots etc. Many apps already have this. It's not perfect, but as is, we have no control over these defects.

5) Sharpy is brilliant in fixing all faces in each image it finds: BUT it too often fails to recognize all faces in each photo unless they have all features and are looking at the camera. In these images we get two or three faces in focus -- but people right next to them with heads turned a bit are unchanged, which is not a realistic outcome. With these images, I have to reverse out Sharpy and leave them as is,

6) Colorizing: This is brilliant much of the time! Especially with flesh tones in old BW photos. Really brings them to life. But far too often, your AAI shape selection algorithm missed an arm, or a leg etc, leaving them grey; as well coloring garments in more than one color. Or hallucinating colors that arent realistic. So Colorizing is unreliable and hit or miss too often. (other apps are also having this problem, but Photomyne would do well to fix it first.

7) the Desktop app (but not the phone app) has Enhance color: its unclear what this does. And the online version doesnt have the various image enhancers at all?? the 12 or so "one step" tone shift template fixes. What arent each version identical as to features?

8) in many ways the desktop version is preferable: larger images so that bad sharpy and/or coloring errors are more noticeable. I find I must check each image Ive enhanced in the phone again to remove these enhancements that looked fine when viewed tiny on my phone.

Also the Desktop Colorize doesn't have the choice of 4 levels of coloring. Why? Same for Sharpy.

8) some images with faces that are 50% grey or unlit evenly will turn blood orange with Colorize feature. Should be a simple AI tweak to make faces lighter when at a certain level of grey or mid tone. To give them a shaded flesh tone but NOT an orange look.

Finally: The enhancement features on the desktop app require an extra click to begin. If we click Colorize, we have chosen to colorize the image... why have us click again? This happens with Sharpy and Colorize.

I could add more but if this reaches Photomyne's desk, I think these would be areas of improvement that can help Photomyne stay ahead of the other apps.

I have been using Photomyne for some time now and it has been an enormously helpful tool, in particular sharing and editing old photos. The "restore" facility is amazing where some of my pre digital photos are not very clear.

I love this app. At 68, i have Thousands of photos of my Grandparents, me, my kids and grandkids. In those days everything went into photo albums, or in shoe boxes that my Dad used and I am not going to be around forever so I got this app so I could attempt to scan everything into one place. I am a little technology challenged, but this app is a breeze. It is worth it, when I am gone people will only have to look in one place for the pics instead of inheriting 100s of photo albums. I even share some of these with my Grandbabies now so I can get their reactions when I embarrass my kids.

I use photomyne mainly to scan slides and to upgrade and colorize old black and white photos. For both needs it works beautifully, and the quality of the restorations is amazing. Now some of my old faded slides and plain black and white shots have been turned into sharp, bright, color images. My family is very impressed; they think I am a genius.

One of the most useful apps I’ve ever had which I use all the time. Having once used it to digitise my own family photo anlbums annd pictures, as well as those of my mother, I am now able to access both sets of photos easily, directly from my iPhone or iPad. I’ve been with Photomyne for almost 10 years and the service has been impeccable. It’s a fantastic product which I’ve recommended to so many friends.
