Baby kittens dumped in freezing conditions …
I phoned 2nd February 2025 outside temperature was around -2 ,some person had dumped 3/4 kittens near my house I first thought that they where feral but far to clean and they came to you before backing off ,I phoned the SSPCA and they told me they didn't have the time to set a trap to catch these poor wee souls so I've had to go to pet shop and buy kitten food to try and help these wee thing .the SSPCA wanted me to do all the donkey by feeding them and catching them and after I've done all that the headline would be THE SSPCA RESCUES 3/4 KITTEN , these lot are a waist of space and not worth the month donations that my wife gives them but these donations will be stopped
They don't deserve any stars
They don't deserve any stars.
It's true they take animals off people to make money for sure!!!!! My son suffers from mental health problems and has or had emotional support Rabbits.
They appeared at my door saying they have had a call i know who it's been, someone who takes drugs and is an extremely jealous person.
They removed my sons rabbits didn't even let my sons have time to give them cuddles, I used to work for the SSPCA (they are not nice to work for at all) and the female that arrived I used to work with we never got on so it was definitely a personal thing from her. When they have a uniform on they think they are above the law.
My doctor has written to them saying for my sons health they need to be returned ASAP.The have ignore his letters and phone calls my doctor it not happy at all. All the rabbits have been separated from their bonded brothers. Getting rehomed alone but they have said could potentionally be introduced to other rabbits when they should be still with there bonded brothers
I paid thousands on my rabbits getting them chipped and neutered. All the pics they have of them up on their website they all look unhappy. It's all about money for them not the animals.
It's a charity so why are they guys up the top on a 6 figure salary a year. It's ridiculous.
They have destroyed my sons mental health and he is seeing his private councilor more often because all of this. Before they took the rabbits she said they are all in great health but couldn't answer why she was removing them from my care she just kept saying I could be prosecuting you right now.
They are now rehoming my rabbits with fake ages one of them is 3 1/2years They have put her down as 6-9 months old they are telling people lies about them.
If they are that desperate for money they should be lowering people's wages not stealing animals off innocent people who love them. The inspector was so heartless both my sons were in tears and she didn't care just kept saying you will be fine they will get good new homes my youngest has mental health problem he will never get over this being done she is evil!!!!! She couldn't even give him time to have a last cuddle and she couldn't even pick a rabbit up properly she even dropped a couple bang onto hard flooring grabbed them and flung them in to a metal pet carrier not professional at all, she thinks she knows it all cause she's wearing a uniform. Totally ignoring medical guidance about them being emotional support Rabbits, its like taking a guide dog off a blind person it's completely WRONG
The thought of my rabbits being all alone and with strangers is killing me they were all house rabbits and not used to being outside in the cold.
It's killing me and and my sons hoping it doesn't finish my youngest son he's heart broken.
People need to rethink their careers and have a heart
SPCA make me sick!!!!!!
The Scottish SPCA absolutely disgusts me. It has come to my attention that they have been seizing well-cared-for animals from their owners, only to rehome them against their own stated policies. These animals are being renamed and labeled as “timid,” which seems a direct result of being removed from the only home and owner they have ever known and placed in a completely unfamiliar environment.
If the Scottish SPCA is struggling financially due to reduced donations and the closure of rescue centers, the solution is not to target animals that are already in safe, loving homes. The focus should remain on helping animals that are genuinely in need. Rehoming seized animals for profit is not only ethically questionable but also heartbreaking for the owners and traumatic for the animals involved.
The organisation needs to prioritise transparency and ethical practices. Taking animals away from responsible owners to generate revenue erodes public trust and undermines their mission to protect animals. The Scottish SPCA are not interested in the welfare of animals rather financial gain.
Furthermore, the inconsistency and unprofessionalism of some officers, who seem to believe that wearing a uniform places them above the law, is deeply concerning. Coupled with an abundant lack of communication from management and contradictory actions across the organisation, it’s clear that the Scottish SPCA is failing to uphold the standards expected of a reputable charity. Until these issues are addressed, they should not be allowed to operate as a charity, as their current practices undermine both public trust and the welfare of the animals they claim to protect.
2nd time hoping to rehome
Went to see a lovely little dog with our other dog ( whom we also got from sspca for a meet and greet ) we felt it went well, spoke about it and my partner emailed on the Sunday to arrange another visit. My partner was sent an unexpected email, despite our initial feelings that we were willing to rehome this dog suggesting that we wouldn’t be capable ( or words to that effect ) very conflicting messages from sspca Petterden. Only WE can decide if we can manage, NOT a member of staff. Disappointed, confused and a little angry
I wouldn’t even rate it one star
I wouldn’t even rate it one star.
Really disappointed phoned at 5pm and explained we had found two hurt birds hit by a car one was bleeding the other was in shock.
I was told someone would be out that night, then got a call from someone who couldn’t be bothered coming and said they don’t know what time they would arrive agreed to leave the birds outside so they could pick them up (they were in boxes)
Woke up in the morning and they are still there but now dead.
This company should not be allowed to…
This company should not be allowed to advertise as putting the welfare of animals “first” or to even be the company they are atall with the little action and support they have gave in this circumstance I am sickned and can’t even read the rest . An on going neglecter of animals since a year ago and now 5/6 different reports of the same scumbag neglecting his two animas in his abandoned house and they are currently still there. Because someone shown up and pulled the tape off they have now passed it by and not attended the last 3 days although the SSPCA know it has been long enough. The one attendance wasn’t even into the house to see the state of the living circumstances. The neglecter is a sick discusting human and proof has been given. Since then the pets have been trapped in a room so neighbours can’t feed them through the letter box to help them and They still haven’t been taken out and saved although there has been given visible evidence about the whole thing to SSPCA!
Spoked to 12 different people out of all the calls made and 3 officers who seemed to really have no care and “so busy “ and all they can say to me is “there is a process and they need to follow it” damn your processes they are a disgrace. Owner of SSPCA is probably sitting in her fancy home raking the money in while these animals are all suffering with Zero love or saftey.
How can two poor animals locked in a room for almost 3 days with no food water or attention be left this long. You should be ashamed of yourselfs. How these people can sleep at night knowing these poor animals are living How they are and being provided with the proof and several witnesses I do not know. Causing myself and everyone else so much distress unable to help them mean while if they really wanted to they HAVE the powers to take action and attend the house and give them saftey. One is unwell and they know this to! What does it take ???? The neglecter is a liar and they have no process for these types of lying scumbags that for whatever sick reason they are doing this . The “owner” doesn’t even see the animals or attended the property what is the point ?! People are so unwelll
I am sickned and lost all faith in humanity at this point!! Poor innocent living creatures all they ask for is food water saftey and love. I can’t do or say anymore they have just been totally useless and everytime I have called all i have been told is that “I’ll pass this on to the officers” then hear nothing , then no one attended the property again these poor babies are still here and are going to die I can’t believe this experience I am scared with it all . I will ensure this isn’t the end the SSPCA hear about this
We called about an injured buzzard…
We called about an injured buzzard which we suspected had been hit by a car. We managed to catch it ready in a box for inspection and uplift when we called for advice. Someone came within a couple of hours and after looking over the bird assured us that yes it looked like a minor injury and after some care and nourishment it would be returned for release. The inpector thanked us for our time and effort, couldn't have been nicer or more professional and we were happy with the end result.
Horrible
Horrible. Don’t even bother calling them, they never attend and if they do it takes months.
Poor service
Drove the 1hr 20 min to Alloa with an injured juvenile blackbird. Had contacted SSPCA en route, out of office hours, with details. An hour later, when 10 minutes away from their rescue centre, had a call from their duty staff (based in Perth), and was told to hold on to the bird overnight, as the drive for her was 'a bit of a trek..'
Found an out of hours vet in Dundee who could help. Wondering what SSPCAs response would have been if instead of a humble blackbird, we had a poorly golden eagle. Disappointed. 3rd negative experience from this animal welfare charity. Unacceptable that an animal has to be in pain for more than 12 hrs because the drive from Perth to Alloa is a bit of a trek.
Injured Fledgling
We found an injured fledgling outside of work. We struggled to find an SSPCA rescue officer to come out due to it being out of hours. Despite this, Officer Stephanie managed to come out to us and rescue the bird and take it away for assessment.
Stephanie was a very polite, friendly and insightful officer, sho also showed empathy towards the bird, and is a credit to the SSPCA.
Horrendous!
My wife had called on wed 26 Jun 24 regarding 3 very young gull chick's at the side of the road on our estate. She was told they would send someone out to move them to a place of safety. So today Sun 30 Jun one of the chicks has been run over as it had walked on to the road. I called and and was told in a very Patronising manner that mummy and daddy gull were big birds and will be near by to look after them and that unless they were in imminent danger then they would not come out. Obviously getting squashed by a car is not imminent enough. Absolutely disgusting service and help from an animal charity who advertise that they care.
USELESS!
If I could give no stars I would.
I called about some baby seagulls that had fallen out of a nest. They said they'd go see them and put them to a safe place and driving past today one had been hit and squashed by a car.
You people never do what is expected of you. There are 2 more but I dare say they will get squashed at some point too!
I rescued two ferrets from the SSPCA
I rescued two ferrets from the SSPCA.
Advertised on their website as "friendly", "well handled" girls.
These girls are not well handled and are in need of TLC and patience. Thank goodness someone like myself picked them up, imagine if a family with children had taken them, or someone who wasn't willing to put in the work...
Granted, the girls are still settling in, but one of them is showing clear signs of aggression towards toys/food/etc. My heart breaks for them.
I've also been advised against spaying the jills, which contradicts all other advice I've received. I was given misinformation by people there, and the advert for the girls was misleading.
I am completely and utterly in love with the two new members of my family, but I have lost what little respect I had for the SSPCA.
The reason for 2 stars is because all the staff were very pleasant and friendly. However, I'm extremely dissatisfied with the rest of my experience.
Wonderful people ♥
Wonderful people ♥
Thank you for your fast response time to rescuing the poor baby Jack-Dor bird from my home, hopefully it'll be healthy and free soon!
You all do your best for animals to the best of your abilities, and within legal standards. I respect you and your team.
Bless you and the animals you save from horrible conditions on a daily basis, you deserve more funding so you and the animals can have a fuller life.
Cardonald cat and dog home…
My dad just adopted a little cat from Cardonald cat and dog home, we seen her online and I fell in love with Zadoph aka pebbles she’s 13 and a little lovebug. Staff were fantastic extremely helpful and gave great advice. They do a great job and it’s a difficult job I’d be crying everyday if it was me working there. We gave a donation and are also taking up cat meat that pebbles has refused to eat she knows what she wants and whiskas just ain’t cutting it lol
Disgusting pathetic useless…
Disgusting pathetic useless organisation that serves zero purpose.my neighbours dogs are being neglected and despite five people complaining ten times there is nothing they can do.blaming the law the arrogant SSPCA girl I spoke to had zero empathy.dont give to this charity I never will. they allow abuse to happen on their watch
Poor little cat!!!
I have been on this earth for 79 years and never once, in all thst time has there ever been a satisfactory rescue for any animal who needed the help I asked this appalling organisation for. Not once.
The latest request was around 14th August 2023
where a poor little cat had been left in awful conditions and I requested to know what had happened and if they had got the cat out of the house where the owner had died. They didn't remove it on earlier requests but I needed to know if it had been saved.
I was told they would look into it and get back to me but, unsurprisingly, I didnt get to know the fate of thst poor animal. Obviously they hadn't saved it!!
I wish I could give minus stars...I have to give one as if i didnt, this review would not be accepted.
Awful awful organisation.
Absolutely disgusting people work here
Absolutely disgusting people work here. Someone gets sent to prison and no one to look afterbhis animals and they leve these defenseless animals on their own and don't even check on them
Discontent in the ranks apparently
Your shiny new vans look like either Virginia media or city fibre, which is who I thought it was when they pulled up. How much did that cost??. The officer who picked up the poor cat I reported wasn't to impressed either. Your troops on the ground are showing signs of discontent at your chiefs high salaries and their lack of integrity. Someone needs to speak out. 5 stars for your official none for her boss. Glad to hear the cat is doing well. Very concerned that the sspca don't respond at all to criticism here.
Disgusted wiht so called charity
Disgusted wiht so called charity
