Regrettably Bought a Crown Jewel Maison Queen…

Bought a Crown Jewel Maison Queen Medium from Harvey Norman NSW at the Dec 28th Sales for $4200. Mattress is being thrown out due to the discomfort it's causing my back (even though I am a side sleeper) , my head up on the pillow and my body sinks into a indentation and I feel the springs under me. I have had the Mattress just over 5 1/2 months. The material on top is lovely, (Tencil) but the mattress itself is to be thrown down a deep hole never to be slept on again. Emailed Sealy and told them of the dipping/indentation and ask for partial money back because who has $4200 to throw away. They told me I paid HN directly they can't refund me. Can you buy a Sealy directly? I have to take this as a bad investment, a gamble, cause I know from previous reviews on Sealy mattresses, they suggest to take it back to inspect and "repair"? I honestly thought as it was a "Crown Jewel" mattress it would have been a better constructed mattress, especially for this amount of money. This is a 2nd Sealy we have bought (the other a King Single 2023 that dipped as well and we threw out, but that was $600. I have now bought a medium Queen mattress fora 1/3 of the price from OMF and so far so good! fingers crossed. I will NEVER buy a Sealy again. (can't seem to attach a photo of the mattress)

AVOID Sealy and its products at all costs …

Anyone considering buying a Sealy mattress - please read this review carefully.

In December 2024 we purchased a top of the range Sealy Imperial Luxury King mattress from David Jones in Melbourne for $19,750. That’s correct - a product valued at nearly $20,000. Within 3-4 months of use the mattress developed a significant squeaking sound from the spring system. Sealy took the mattress to its factory for inspection and determined there had been a complete failure of the box spring system due to a manufacturing fault. Sealy refused to replace the mattress with a new one, but rather in line with its warranty terms and conditions, repaired it. The repair involved taking the mattress apart and replacing the entire box spring system. After returning it and within another 4 months, the exact same fault began to reappear. Sealy collected the mattress again for yet another inspection. When collecting the mattress Sealy representatives acknowledged the squeaking sound and fault and further acknowledged it was the mattress and nothing to do with the bed or its sprung slat base.

Following the factory inspection I received an email from Sealy advising the factory could not find a fault with the mattress and as a result there was nothing further they could do. They implied it could be an issue with the non-Sealy slats - despite this not being the case and as witnessed by its representatives. They advised there was noting else they could do and that I should take up the matter with David Jones.

Can you believe that a $20,000 mattress can not only fail after 3-4 months of use due to a manufacturing fault, but can then fail again and despite Sealy representatives acknowledging the fault on site, Sealy has now attempted to wipe its hands of the issue. This not only highlights poor product and manufacturing issues, but it highlights a dishonest company that does not care about its customers. I’m looking forward to David Jones resolving this issue as the seller, in the usual way David Jones goes about caring for its customers, but when it comes to Sealy as a company, we’ve had the most disgraceful experience. AVOID Sealy and its products at all costs.

Buying a Sealy was a big mistake!

Bought an Acclaim Restore Ultra Plush a month ago and received a concrete block. Sealy have said I have to “wear it in” and call after 6-8 weeks where they’ll pick it up and take it to investigate for defects. Pffft, I’ve heard all about that horror story of Sealy covering themselves under basic Consumer Law and then charging us for the screw around and not doing anything.
I didn’t order this and nobody told me this would happen! I have rheumatoid arthritis, I’m crying every night and don’t get any sleep. Meanwhile, I’m following their instructions of turning every 2 weeks and sleeping in a different position for ‘even wear’ and the mattress is dipping! I’m a light woman, I’m sleeping on every square inch of the mattress, how am I sitting on an angle when I’m trying to read and getting a back ache? It’s cheap rubbish. Sealy used to be a great mattress and now they’re using cheap materials. This is a joke and Sealy do not care. The customer service lady told me that I’m just going to have to sleep on extra doona’s or anything I can find if I can’t afford a thick mattress topper, a week after buying this.
Shamelessly selling consumers terrible mattresses and they’ve set themselves up in their castle to walk away with their pockets full and there’s nothing we can do about it.

If anyone has had any luck getting a refund please let me know because I’m a mess.

Terrible quality mattress and poor service when it falls apart.

I purchased the Hudson firm mattress from Harvey Norman. I wanted a firm mattress for back support. It felt comfortable when I first brought it home, but quickly lost its firmness and after just 7 months of use my back was sore from the indentation where I lay, despite rotating it fortnightly as directed. There is also a rise in the middle of the mattress. I complained to the store where I purchased it and wanted to claim on the warranty. I was instructed to take photographs of the mattress using a broom as a straight edge. It is clear it has sunk greatly as seen in the photos. Their reply is that they will 'fix it' not give a refund. They said they will take it away, 'repair it' somehow and bring it back to me on the same day. This seems ridiculous but I agreed. Then I am told it will take over a month before they can come and collect it. Now they call me and say they can't make it the day they booked it in, and it will be another week on top. I would NEVER buy a Sealy again. Terrible quality and terrible service.

Terrible Mattress

Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Heritage Flex Firm Mattress
I was after a firm mattress that you don’t sink into.
The salesman at Snooze Ballina assured me that this mattress would be good. I tried it and it did feel good. It was slightly soft and supported my body well.
But no one stays on a display mattress in a showroom for hours and the manufacturers know that. Once it had been delivered and I was using it for a whole night another story became apparent.
After a few hours the mattress gets rather hot under you, this is going to be great in the coming summer months – I don’t think!
Also, and more important, you start to slowly sink into the mattress until you are stuck in a sort of trough. You move slightly and you are climbing over a ledge to another level. It is very disturbing and exactly what I wanted to avoid in the first place.
One side of the mattress has now become sunken under the top layer. I have slept all over the mattress both top to toe and diagonally, each time after a few hours this sinking occurs. I have not had one good night’s sleep since this mattress arrived and I am getting a backache from this awful mattress.
I complained very quickly to Sealy (after only three nights of use) and they came back with some flannel about sending photos of the mattress clearly displaying the indentation. This is impossible because the top layer of foam just slowly springs back and it looks perfectly alright again. The photos will show nothing.
I am not impressed and after just a week I am ready to ask for my money back and try to find a decent mattress.
I fail to understand why it is not possible to obtain a traditional sprung mattress in Australia any more. They worked well for decades and only over the last few years have they disappeared to be replaced by heavy, badly designed, foam topped mattresses. An old style mattress would be expected to last at least ten years, not less than a week like this abomination.

shameful and disgusting quality and service

I don't understand what they charge us for, when Sealy Crown Jewel quality is nothing but poor?!
From 2020 this was third time I addressed the same issues - both the mattress and the base are deforming after short time and becoming non-functional and unbearable to use. Every time after the adjustment and replacement it was worst than before! Recently I addressed the issue again, payed additional money as they requested for the comfort adjustment, went to the shop to chose comfort and guess what - after they took my money for Epernay PLUSH, they advised me the range Crown Jewel Epernay 2018 is discontinued get one of the lower ranges Reims PLUSH???!!! Not sure if this is funny or sad, but definitely extremely disappointing!!! Friendly advise ... Don't trust to this brand and DO NOT BUY SEALY CROWN JEWEL products!!! Who ever want to see copies of the paperwork, communication, emails, bills, condition reports or photos please DM and I'll send it to you.
