Cold pie and chips bread seems like it days old

We have been coming to Shambles for a while and always enjoy it. Food is always nice, staff friendly, toilets clean. We can recommend tagliatelle and beef burger.

Fantastic service with a smile, beautiful food, recommend the chicken and mushroom tagliatelli.
Good choice of drinks and great atnosphere

‘Blandest’ cafe latte I’d ever had, same went for my husband’s cappuccino - both looked exactly the same though in different glass mugs.
My husband wanted a tea cake but had to return as the bottom was burnt! No real apology just the production of another less burnt one!
Enough staff and efficient, but a ‘no charge for the tea cake’ would have been a nice gesture.
We won’t be returning.

Terrible customer service and outrageous hidden costs and bland food. Don't waste your money.

We are 2 carers for adults with special needs, yesterday was a beautiful autumnal day so we took the 3 people we care for out to enjoy the sunshine and landed in The Shambles cafe in Lytham for lunch. Two of us ordered the soup and being greedy beavers we asked for an extra roll each. We were rather disappointed that the soup didn't come with warm, soft squishy rolls but instead 2 VERY small, thinly sliced, toasted pieces of sourdough bread (with more holes than bread) so our 'extra' was 2 more slices of same said rock- hard bread, hey ho though, we got what we asked for so no problem. Of course we expected to pay extra for the bread (even my colleague who is a yorkshire man) what we didn't expect was to have to pay an extra £9 for it. We were also charged for jam? Was he secretly slathering blackberry compote on his dippy bread without me knowing, he says not. I spoke to the owner of the place as I just assumed there had been a mistake with the bill, I wasn't really expecting the reaction or reply that I got, I was told that I shouldn't expect food for free (I don't) that we got what we asked for (we did) so we should expect to pay for it (we do) all in a very aggressive manner. I tried to explain that it just seemed an excessive amount for what we got and we didn't have jam. His reply was to put a bad review on facebook and to say I've spoken to the owner. So here it is too
