Fantastic experience
I've waited over 2 years for this and got frustrated at the cancellations but eventually got to fly today. The experience was absolutely amazing it's definitely up there with one of the best things I've done in my life. A big shout out to all the staff and the pilot Dave they were fab

A great experience all round
Being able to take part in the set up and packing away was unexpected but very much made the whole experience that much more enjoyable.
The professionalism and friendliness of the pilot was outstanding.
The flight itself was just amazing and definitely worth the wait.

Excellent insight into the wonderful mode of balloon travel
What an amazing way to start the day! A serene, awe inspiring panorama of the historic city of York, as you float gently by and high above the landmark buildings and splendid rural scenery. The balloon, equipment and crew were all top notch, as indeed was the overall experience. An excellent insight into the wonderful mode of balloon travel and the magnificent vistas it unlocks. Highly recommended.

Our pilot
Our pilot, Nobby, struck just the right tone. He was professional and highly capable; he related easily and naturally to his passengers. Timings were spot-on and the enforced change to our departure site was communicated clearly and acted on promptly. He even dropped us off at our park and ride facility on the way back in to Bath!

A fantastic experience
A fantastic experience, I particularly enjoyed flying low over the woods. I felt totally safe and relaxed with the pilot, Matt, who kept us informed about what was happening. My flight had been cancelled 9 times and the location was changed at 10pm the night before but i understand safety is the top priority.

The balloon ride itself was beautiful
The balloon ride itself was beautiful, Very serene and very straightforward.
The location was good and easy to find.
However, it has been a nightmare waiting to find a date that the balloon actually flew. We have had numerous cancellations and have had our vouchers for three years. Please be aware of this when you buy vouchers for presents. You do not find out, potentially, up to 11pm the night before. It has been awful having to keep taking days off work, just in case, it goes ahead. I do not get paid if I don't work. My daughter has had to use holiday days, each unsuccessful times. (About 6)
I have rung the customer service advisers a few times. One time I spoke to a lovely lady. The second time the lady was quite rude and very unhelpful.
I loved the balloon ride itself but would never buy any more virgin experience vouchers for myself or for anyone else, for the reasons above. Please be aware you cannot get a refund.

We’re pleased the flight itself was beautiful and peaceful, but we’re sorry the repeated cancellations made getting airborne so frustrating.
We appreciate the effort you and your daughter made to keep rebooking, particularly with lost earnings and annual leave involved.
Ballooning depends heavily on suitable weather, and sometimes the pilot needs to wait until the evening before to make a decision using the latest forecast. We explain this in our booking information, but we understand how difficult that uncertainty makes planning time off work.
We appreciate that conversations can become difficult over the phone when our customers are understandably frustrated. However, we don’t feel it’s fair to describe our staff as rude simply because they may have to explain policies or give an answer a customer is disappointed with.
However, if you felt the way you were spoken to was inappropriate, then please do get in touch with us at customerservice@virginballoonflights.co.uk with your voucher details and we'll happily review your account and the call.
Refund eligibility depends on the voucher type and applicable terms, which we encourage customers to check before purchasing. We do make this clear both on our website and over the phone at the time of purchase.
Thank you for your honest feedback and four stars despite the difficulties.
We’re glad you ultimately enjoyed the flight, and we’re sorry the overall experience has left you feeling you wouldn’t book again.

Great launch site, perfect autumnal day: still sunny weather. Skilful friendly pilot who inspired confidence in his leadership to prepare, fly and land the baloon. Loved the flight experience! Picking a landing spot was tricky but we had a good landing in a small grassy field.
