Happy customer!
I have wanted to do a balloon flight for many years and yesterday my wish came true. It was everything I had hoped it would be. The pilot was very knowledgeable, experienced, and professional. The views were stunning over Rutland Water and surrounding area. The booking process is very simple which is just as well as we had to do it 5 times before our flight went ahead due to unsuitable flying conditions the 4 times previously but I'd do it all again in a heartbeat!

Hi Helen,
Fifth time lucky and what a view to celebrate with! 🎈
Rutland certainly knows how to show off from above. We’re so pleased your long-awaited wish lived up to expectations, and thank you for sticking with us through the weather cancellations.
You’d do it all again in a heartbeat? Careful, we’ll save you a spot in the basket! 😉
Thanks for flying with us!

Wonderful experience
It took us 8 years to fly due to cancellations because of the weather not being suitable to fly
However it was worth the wait- excellent experience, Nobby and colleagues very friendly and professional, stunning views, unfortunately hurt my leg jumping out awkwardly but it didn’t dampen my experience 😀
My advise? Do it!

Hi Stephen,
Eight years? Blimey the British weather certainly knows how to keep us on our toes! 🎈
Thank you for sticking with it. We’re delighted the stunning views and Nobby’s crew made it worth the wait.
We’re sorry to hear you hurt your leg and hope it’s feeling better. We're glad it didn’t dampen your spirits though and you clearly brought your own sunshine! 😀
Thanks for recommending us! We really appreciate it.

Hi Sophie,
Three years in the making… even the British weather couldn’t keep you grounded forever! 😂
We’re so pleased it was worth the wait and that Mike and the crew made it special. Fingers crossed the photos catch your best side, although at that altitude, every side is pretty spectacular! 😉
Thanks for sticking with us and for the lovely review, we really appreciate it!

Well organised, exciting participative experience
Very helpful telephone staff at Virgin making arrangements. Given how unpredictable ballooning is, they do their best to make it work for everyone. On the day we had Nobby as pilot who was very experienced and explained the ins and outs of it as we went along. The flight itself was quite exciting at take off and landing as the winds were at maximum allowable for commercial ballooning but we always felt in very safe hands. Altogether an excellent experience and well worth the money.

We finally got there.
It took us 2 and a half years to finally get airborne. It kept getting cancelled due to weather. However, it was definitely worth the wait! The weather, the views, and the crew were outstanding. An experience I'll never forget. Thank you.

Hi Mr Thornton,
Two and a half years is a long wait, and we really appreciate you sticking with us through the weather cancellations. We’re so glad the skies finally got the memo and gave you a flight worth waiting for! :)
It’s lovely to hear you enjoyed the views and the crew. Thank you for sharing this and for flying with us.

Great flight though felt a bit short
The pilot and support staff were friendly and helpful. The flight itself was great although it seemed much less than an hour in duration. We were told it was being moved to York racecourse from Lotherton Hall due to “operational reasons” which did sound a bit ‘vague’ and make it a much longer journey.

Resposta da Virgin Balloon Flights
Hi Craig,
Thank you for your review. We’re pleased you enjoyed the flight and that you felt looked after :)
We’re sorry to read that the flight felt shorter than expected, and that the move from Lotherton Hall to York Racecourse meant a much longer journey for you. We also understand why “operational reasons” felt too vague and we apologise for this. We just want to re-assure you that the pilot will have had a valid reason for changing the launch site and wouldn’t have made that decision lightly, but we agree that perhaps a better explanation should have been provided for clarity and we will certainly feed this back.
If you get in touch with our customer service team at customerservice@virginballoonflights.co.uk and share your voucher details, we can check the flight duration for you.
We look forward to hearing from you.

First time in a balloon
Thoroughly enjoyed being in the sky, it was really peaceful. Pilot (Gavin) was a good guide and confident. Space in the basket was a bit cramped. Having paid for the experience, I think it’s really poor that passengers are expected to do the work to get the ballon ready and then put it away afterwards. 5/5 for the flying. 0/5 for having to do the work. Marks and Spencer don’t make me knit a jumper before buying it.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your honest review. We’re glad you enjoyed a peaceful flight with us and felt in safe hands with Gavin.
Helping to set up and pack away the balloon is part of the experience but we appreciate it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, especially if you were expecting to simply enjoy the flight.
We’re sorry if the basket felt cramped too, and we’ll pass your feedback on to the pilot and team.
Your Marks and Spencer comparison made us smile. We promise we won’t ask anyone to weave the balloon basket! ;)🎈
Thanks again for your feedback.

Absolutely fantastic trip, Sarah our pilot was very funny and informative. Her ground crew who sorry can’t remember there names were brilliant. All the people on our trip were lovely as well. Also had a lady who was 90 on our trip who was amazing. This was our second trip and would high recommend to everyone. Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. Great experience.

Hi Maggie,
Thank you for coming back for round two! We’re glad Sarah kept you laughing throughout the experience while pointing out the sights. Don’t worry about forgetting the ground crew’s names.... “brilliant” will do nicely, and we’ll make sure they read it 😄🎈
It sounds like you got to enjoy your second flight with a lovely group too. A special cheer for your 90-year-old fellow passenger! Thanks for recommending the experience. We really appreciate it!

An excellent flight
Very well organised. Russell (the pilot) was first class and got us all involved in getting the balloon up at the start and packed away at the end. The flight was smooth and we felt very safe. Very good views too. Light winds meant we didn’t go very far. We had to be postponed several times due to the weather but were always told well in advance.

Hi Heather,
Thank you for sticking with us through the weather cancellations. We’re glad the updates gave you plenty of notice, and that you felt safe with Russell and enjoyed the views when your flight day finally arrived.
The light winds may have kept the journey short, but Russell still made sure you got the full balloon experience including a little teamwork at both ends! We hope the packing away didn’t count as your workout for the week 😄🎈

The staff and crew were excellent
The staff and crew were excellent. I LOVED the whole experience and take off and landing were great. Love to do this again though it has taken me since October 2022 to finally make it. You cannot trust the weather 😥. Thanks to the crew and the people who were on the trip. I am still up in the air. On a high 👍❤️😇. Regards Rita Davies

Absolutely fantastic experience
Absolutely fantastic experience. We flew from Bath. Perfect weather. Great team. Loved Nobby's humour. Looking down from 3000 feet in silence (apart from when the flame was on obvs) was quite magical. Can't recommend it enough.
