I recently started doing work for handshake after receiving numerous invitations to apply for projects. I ignored it for a while. 2 weeks ago I decided to give it a try. I passed this challenging assesment for one project and I did receive my bonus but was unable to begin tasking. Randomy my account was placed into "Application under review" After working for two weeks.

This is the reason given by the help chat:

"After submitting your application to the Handshake AI Fellowship, your information is reviewed by our team on a rolling basis. Applications are matched to projects based on project needs, qualifications, experience, and area of expertise. If your application status reverted to "under review," it may indicate that your profile is being re-evaluated for current or future project opportunities. This does not necessarily mean there is an issue with your application.

Please note:

Submitting an application does not guarantee placement on a project.
Project invitations depend on partner demand and project availability.
Some projects may require additional evaluations, training exercises, or portfolio reviews before selection.
If you have further concerns or specific questions about your application status, let me know, and I can assist further."

This is after I was already working and passed the necessary assesments. Also, it is easy not to get paid for work performed. The timer may not work, or the time update is delayed so you must keep track of your own time.

If you have time to waste and want to try and make a few bucks this is the platform. No real consistency. It has been 5 days and no one has resolved the issue. They requested official transcripts, letters signed from current or previous employers, portfolio, published works, etc... RIdiculous!

Absolutely horrid. HandShake’s customer service is extremely difficult to work with. The person who was assigned to my support ticket did not seem to know what they were doing, and they contradicted themselves multiple times.

Also, when you email or reply to an email, there is an automatic response that is a verbatim copy of the email you sent not even a minute ago.

Aside from the failures of customer service, you are also unable to edit or delete things regarding your account. If you wish to change your phone number, you cannot do so without going through customer service. And they will inform you that you might have to delete the whole account, which is happening in my case. You are unable to edit or delete anything important from your side.

They collect your interview vidoe and audio to train their AI model. This is a big scam going on- on the name of job. You will not get any job there. They will do your interview and collect your audio video to sell your data to other companies to train their AI model. Hand shake ai is a scam. They will keep conducting your interviews one after another and they will not reply back anything to you. and They are training their AI model with your audio video. So Handshake is a scam.

They will steal and sell your information.

Unpaid wages, unpaid assessments, lack of support. Handshake has gone downhill completely. They won't disclose how they are tracking your time. You could work upwards of 40+ hours and only be credited with 6. Actually disgusting.

Not a fan of the AI incorporation. At least half of the postings seem to be inaccurate or fake. Haven't had success with any posting I sent an application to, and none of the messages I've received from "recruiters" appear to be legitimate.

Ethics, misleading

I joined Handshake AI hoping for legitimate AI training work, but the entire experience has been disappointing and unprofessional. The platform is incredibly buggy, assessments frequently glitch, “Form not found” errors appear constantly, and tasks disappear or fail to load. I was reinstated once only to be randomly discontinued shortly after with zero explanation.

Communication from support is terrible. They take days to respond, give generic copy-paste replies, and refuse to provide any meaningful details even when you ask for clarification. Worst of all, they have a reputation for not paying for all hours worked. Many people report spending significant time on assessments and tasks only to have the work rejected or underpaid with no recourse.

Overall, the platform feels chaotic, unfair, and poorly managed. I would not recommend Handshake AI to anyone. Save your time and look elsewhere.

Never ever work for Handshake Ai and waste your time, you can make nothing . They do wage theft. They waste your time by forcefully giving you the assessments in the middle of the work every time and waste your couple of hours and for that they pay nothing to you. If you work for them, they will pay you very less than what they promised you . They will make different kind of excuses not to pay you. that you didn’t work actively, what ever their system show hours and money you earned they will not pay you even that amount. They will say you increased the time into that even though you worked hard with honesty. They will blame you for that and pay you nothing. They say you refer people they will you, but you never get any referrals money even though you satisfy their all terms and conditions, still they will find way to steal your wages. They are dishonest company.

I've been a tasker and reviewer on this platform for a year. My experience with Handshake has been an absolute disaster of technical incompetence and corporate dishonesty. Their in-house time tracking tool is completely broken and never works right. It regularly glitches, causing taskers to lose track of their tasks and hours for payment. In just one single week, their platform's technical failures screwed me out of over 31 hours of tracked work at my rate of $65 an hour. They effectively stole over $2,000 out of my hard-earned money.

I spent over three months attempting to contact customer support to get my missing pay resolved. I was met with silence. Never heard back once. The only way I could even get a response was by forcing a ticket through their automated chatbot to clear a broken payment banner that was stuck on my dashboard screen.

Immediately after I forced their support team to finally do their job and clear the technical glitch on my dashboard, they suddenly claimed they noticed "irregular activity" on my account. They demanded proof of my identity and credentials, which they already had but I supplied it anyways. As a legitimate business owner, I provided them with an official documentation of my state Contractor's License, a direct link to my registration on the Secretary of State's website, my government ID (drivers license), public links to my published work. Instead of verifying the data, the next night they sent a generic, automated template stating they were ending my participation on the platform and the decision was final, without any explanation or mention of the payment that they've owed me for months.

So if they were honestly wanting verification of my ID and credentials (and I handed them every thing they needed except for a blood sample) a normal person would expect to get a response from that, saying something like, "Oh, thank you for verifying" or whatever, but no, no, no, no, no! Instead, they banned me from their glitchy platform. Who does that? The language used acts like it's my fault. lol It's also so odd that I suddenly can get a response when it's been several months of trying to get the pay that they owe me and I couldn't get a single email returned before. This is so disturbing to me. I cannot even believe that I thought these people were professionals.

At one time, I thought this place was prestigious, but after getting in there and being there for around a year, it was so shocking to see how dysfunctional this place really is. I'm not just saying that either. It is bad. One instance I can also describe is being a reviewer. We had to attend two webinars per week. It was mandatory, and we were always encouraged to ask a question if we had any. However, when we would ask a question, it always came back to bite us because there was a guy who gave the webinars. He was so belligerent that anyone who asked a question during the webinar would literally be screamed at in front of hundreds of other people on Zoom. He would roll his eyes, insult your intelligence, and publicly humiliate you just for trying to get clarity on a project.

It is an unhinged, deeply toxic environment, the worst I have ever been in. I am so embarrassed that I even worked on this platform! In the garbage email that they sent me, the tone and language used by these people was alarming. Another thing that is even more shocking is Handshake AIs incompetence is that major tech giants are actually trusting this platform to handle the training data for their advanced models. If a platform's internal infrastructure is so poorly built that it routinely glitches, loses data, and relies on automated cover-ups to handle its top researchers, how can any AI company trust them with their secure, high-level data? Their internal operational security and data integrity are a joke. Trust me when I say to stay far away from this platform.

Complete scam. Wastes your time with tons of random assessments, claims you failed them despite getting the answers right, infinite delay on pay outs, refuses to pay you what you're owed for the work done. Complete garbage

I'm an MBA will graduate soon. I've been looking at this Handshake site and posted my resume etc, for years. All the jobs I find, and the ones sent to me as well, are wanting years of EXPERIENCE. I'm a student!!! I don't have any freaking experience yet!!! MAD FACE. I quit wasting my time with them. It is pointless. No entry level jobs.

I think if you’re desperate, then you can earn a few bucks on handshake ai, but with all the prep work, onboarding, instructions, etc vs hourly wage, it’s a waste of time and major headache. I’ve been chasing my wages for 4 weeks now and I still haven’t gotten bonuses that were promised. On top of that, I will join a project, and then be removed from it without any (beyond most generic) explanation. If you want to spend three days of work to earn two hours of pay, then handshake ai is for you. Otherwise don’t waste your time.

Have been scammed out of over 50 hours of work by Handshake AI and have getting paid less than half of what I should have been. They say file a dispute but the dispute comes back as "we can't do anything about it" and they provide no evidence whatsoever.

I worked for this company from Dec 22 to today 06/03. The first five months were find. I verified my identity and sent them my transcripts and dipolma from college. Two days ago I got a message that I needed to send them again, so I did and they said then they banned me from the platform with no explanation. What did I do differently, you ask? I disputed my pay. Twice. They stopped paying based on time worked and started paying by using some invisible timer. Leaving my pay 60% less than what they owed me two weeks in a row. They will not tell me why they banned me just that the decision was final. I wouldn't recommend this company; they have poor ethics and lack transparency.

Filed a ticket for missing payments due to their new, hidden, internal way of tracking hours. I was approved for a little less than half of the disputed amount with no reasoning for why the rest of the hours would be compensated. Still need to dispute even more wages that they've failed to pay on time for the following week, which they even acknowledged that there would be discrepancies with. Avoid working for this company. Look for a job elsewhere unless you like being paid less than minimum wage.

Absolutely trash and it's a shame schools promote this. Their handshake ai wants labor for cut pay and will make you do long ahh assessments then have a bot analyze it (tho they care so much about you not using ai, they use to for everything) and then say that "you aren't eligible" BUT THEY SUGGESTED THE DAMN PROJECT BY SPAMING YOUR EMAIL TO GET ONBOARD!. a waste of mother frickin time. I genuinely wish the worse for the con men and women behind this. As if students didn't already have enough crap to worry about.

The only job offers I've gotten from here have been literal scams.

Loved working here at first, but they now have been withholding wages due to their innacurate time tracking update!! Money is too important to simply say “oops sorry”. Poor ethics and inappropriate responses when requesting support.

Do not do it! Wow what a waste of time and energy. Took an hour to upload resume almost impossible if you’re using iPhone with resume stored on google drive. Gave up after half hour of using the phone camera tool that only allows for using front facing camera, yep i said front facing. It also demands linkedin account.
