Harder and harder to receive a reward to the point now that it's not even worth your time and effort doing.
They say to join their partner insurance company to get Biscuits plus for free, but their partner company changes each year, don't be fooled to change from your current insurance provider just for the biscuit subscription.
If I could give zero stars I would. What a sell out. I have used this app for years and feel very let down by this new update. Usually if you pay a subscription you get EXTRA but in this case, you get the same as you used to get for free and now, if you use the app for free you only get 1/5 of the points you used to get, PLUS ads.
I've been using this app for a while now and it was great. Unfortunately they changed the number of biscuits you needed to get a voucher and now they have introduced a £3.99 subscription fee and also the app now has adverts. Very sad that it will take a year to get a £10 voucher for using the app everyday. Disappointing1
Biscuit launched in 2022, originally aimed at less-affluent (voucher-collecting) dog owners. Biscuit Pet Care, the company behind the app, secured £3 million in seed funding. At that time, customers traded their personal (targeted dog-friendly marketing) data for receiving "biscuits" which could be used to buy vouchers. This data included microchip ID numbers, (which were mandatory should customers want to receive coffee or supermarket rewards), when vaccinations were due, etc. When the app is installed, 68 vendors are asking for your consent; 34 vendors are NOT asking for your consent
The data was used by pet insurance companies, such as Animal Friends and Waggel - Sign up with their insurance to receive "bonus" biscuits.
"Biscuits" were received each time a dog was walked in a way, or time, shown on the app. As personal data is not tangible, many customers thought the app was free and highly-recommended it to friends, family, and other dog walkers they met. This grew the Biscuit database rapidly, and Waggel's assets almost doubled:
2022=£628,855.00
2023=£1,075,388.00
Biscuit gained 5-star reviews during this period on Trustpilot, Google Play, and Apple Market.
"Tasks" were introduced that slowly reduced the number of biscuits that could be earned, e.g. Rather than a daily walk, customers were expected to walk their dog for 2 or 3 consecutive days before progressing.
The value of biscuits earned was gradually decreased so that the amount needed to buy a voucher was sometimes almost doubled. This wasn't always the case, e.g. While Costa vouchers almost doubled, Marks and Spencer vouchers were reduced by 3 biscuits!
In May 2025, things changed dramatically for biscuit customers. If you are considering downloading the app, I recommend checking reviews posted after May 2025 BEFORE you do.
On May 12th, 2025, customers were asked to pay a subscription of £3.99 per month. Subscribers were offered a free PitPat activity monitor for their dogs to wear. From this time, customers who didn't or couldn't pay only received a fifth of the vouchers they had before and be forced to watch adverts unrelated to pet care, e.g. Temu.
Dog walking data is collected by the app; however, the tracker is not reliable. A free tracking app like STRAVA would be a much better option:
Strava has 4.3 stars and 50 million downloads
Biscuit has only 3.7 stars and 100,000 downloads
We need to remember that this app was not really aimed at the affluent - They don't usually need vouchers. This is aimed at those who need a little extra help with their shopping, an occasional treat, etc.
If you bought a product based on good reviews just to discover that the product no longer does what it previously did and, on checking, you discovered that 90% of the positive reviews were old, would you be happy with your purchase? It is vital to keep ratings up-to-date so that newbies can make an informed decision; hence, this review. Since the May 2025 introduction of subscription payments, and the subsequent way they introduced negative benefits to their loyal customer base, Biscuits ratings on Trustpilot, Google Maps, and Apple Market have nosedived.
Whenever Biscuit is given a negative review on the Trustpilot website, it replies with copy-paste advertising!
Conclusion: This is my honest opinion only. Do your research, but check the date of each review.
We had a recent change a couple of months ago where the amount of 'biscuits' to achieve a reward doubled suddenly. And now the rewards earned each day have been reduced by 80%. You can pay £4 a month to earn the same amount of rewards you used to get for free, just to finally qualify in 3months for a £10 voucher! Makes no sense. I get maybe with cost of living some benefits had to be adjusted at sometime, but this feels highly excessive and all about profit. Going to stop using this app as not worth it
What a shame that such a fun app to walk your dogs has now got greedy. The voucher over time have got more expensive and now will take forever to get £10.
Definitely not worth the bother.
Their new changes have forced them to turn off social media comments due to the overwhelming negative feedback.
They've changed from free to a paid programme. Unpaid: About £10 of vouchers every 7 months. Paid: About £21 of vouchers every 7 months.
To put it into perspective, the previous plan before the change was around double that at £41 of vouchers every 7 months.
The update has reduced the rewards from 25 a day to 5 unless you pay a substantial. Along with constantly increasing the cost of the vouchers. It will take over 200 days to get a single £10 voucher, used to be £10 a month per dog.
They have also turned off comments on social media in an attempt to silence the negative feedback from costumers who are rightfully outraged.
Like someone else said, it used to be really worth while. I used to get 150 biscuits once a week as well as my daily ones for walking my 2 dogs. Tesco £10 vouchers cost 850 biscuits. Not anymore, you either get 5 biscuits per day per dog or pay £3.99 to pay for the app. It would take me about 4 months to get a £10 voucher!. I have exchanged biscuits for my last voucher and I have now uninstalled the app! NO THANK YOU!
I’ve used this app for around a year, at first thought it was brilliant. Kept up motivation for hitting goals and getting out and walking my dog in the rain etc. great way to track flea and worming. I recommended it to everyone.
However its recent change and down grade in the free option is rather annoying. Obviously I’m not going to stop walking my dog, but I’m considering not bothering with the tracking of walks through the app. Yes I could get biscuits plus for free if I changed insurance providers but why should I have to. Or pay £3 a month for a service that was free not long ago.
In general thought it was great but not so keen on the recent changes.
If I could give it 0 stars I would. I've been a loyal member since this app first came about and now you've changed the app and reduced the biscuits to 5 biscuits per day. Considering most of your good rewards are 1000 biscuits plus its a joke. It's so out of touch in a cost of living crisis to do this. I'd understand if members got additional points to the normal 25 and you kept the 25 biscuits for non members. Disgraceful will not be using this app anymore, so disappointed.
This app was really good, but now only getting 5 biscuits, it's really not worth bothering about. Definitely not paying to get something which was free before.
Barking mad! Used to be such a good app that used to benefit the regular users. Now it’s unfortunately charging a minimum of £3.99 for just 1 dog, it’s no longer worth the effort for 5 biscuits a day! Even paying the premium doesn’t work out cost effective. It was fun while it lasted guys but I don’t see it changing back!
Had the app for a year and all seemed good. Suddenly this week my points have been reduced to only 20% and now I get adverts that are video clips you can't avoid.
To avoid the ads and get the usual points you now have to pay them £4 a month!
I, the same as quite a few people on here recommended this app to other dog walkers...but no more. I have just sent an email to customer service to ask what had happened to the biscuits not believing that it could be a corporate decision! I will be using my vouchers and then deleting the app...just not worth the hassle any more...so sad!
Not worth it anymore since they introduced the subscription model where you have to pay to earn the same amount of ‘biscuits’ as you previously would have gotten for free each day after a walk. I’ll be surprised if people continue using it after this…
Used to be such a great app, earning 25 points a day and being able to convert them into vouchers was amazing, but now they have decided to start charging for 25 biscuits and you only get 5 for free which does not make the app worth it at all in my opinion. Also, the constant adds that appear now on the free version is pathetic. I will be cashing in my points and deleting the app because it is just not worth it at all anymore.
The new app subscription is terrible. I have two dogs and can only get points for the walks I do and not my partner as it is (we share the walking and you can't share the dogs across people in the household).
Getting occasional vouchers was fun and made getting the app out before walks worthwhile. But with the new free rate there is no point. With the paid option it doesn't make any sense. I'll just pay for the things I used vouchers for.
The introduction of a £3.99 monthly fee to receive the same benefits that were previously free is barking!!
Time to cash in and uninstall the Biscuit App.
