I booked my flights through Booking.com because I had credit in my account. On January 10th, I requested a flight change, but despite countless messages, I never received a proper response or solution. I purchased flexible tickets, assuming I would only need to pay the price difference for any changes. Total scam!
First, they quoted me €196.07 for the change, then suddenly increased it to €235.74 per person without any explanation. Meanwhile, the total price for the new flights was only €290.33 for two people! So if I had booked new tickets instead, I would have paid much less. But instead, they demanded €471.48 just to change my tickets. How does this make any sense?
I contacted them multiple times, but they kept delaying and avoiding a real answer. The result? My tickets expired, and I received no refund at all! They neither changed my flights nor returned my money. Now, not only did I lose my tickets, but I also lost my Booking.com credit, which I could have used for something else!
If you book flights through Booking.com, be aware that their customer support is completely useless. If anything goes wrong, you’re on your own. No accountability, no refund, no solution. I strongly advise against using this service. If you run into an issue, don’t expect a resolution—you’ll just be left frustrated and out of pocket. Avoid at all costs!
Booking.com Refuses to Provide Invoices – AVOID!
If you’re booking a stay for business or need an invoice for any reason, DO NOT use Booking.com! They do not provide invoices even when legally required, and their customer service is a complete disaster.
I have been waiting over 30 days for my invoice, which, according to Polish tax law, should have been issued by the 15th of the following month. Instead of sending it, Booking.com keeps sending automated, copy-paste responses, redirecting me in circles between the hotel, their “partners,” and back to them—nobody takes responsibility!
Their own policy states that invoices should be issued within 30 days, yet they completely ignore their own rules. Worse, they lie repeatedly, telling customers to “request an invoice through their system”—but their system does not allow resubmissions!
If you need a legally required invoice, you will never get it from Booking.com. Avoid this service at all costs if you want a smooth, honest, and professional booking experience.
I have made several bookings with this…
I have made several bookings with this company and had no problems. However this time I booked a different hotel with them and it was not as described on the Booking.com website it was expensive, I thought would would get a good standard by paying more. How wrong as was. I complained to Booking.com and got no response. Booking .com just don't bother answering my emails. Their Customer Service is a joke. I would not use Booking.com again and would not advise anyone else to book with them.

Horrible! Scam, they are working with the lowest of the low in car rental agencies. This company has no customer service phone numbers all phone numbers are over seas and this rental company HDC they have in Miami is horrific a total scam. They give you an amazing rate take the money then when you get their they try to force you to use insurance which is a scam you should be able to decline and they also don’t tell you you will need a $500 deposit it’s not enough they do the bait and switch and don’t have the car you reserved it’s not enough they don’t have a customer service number when you call they hang up on you because they don’t speak English. Then they also force you with saying you have to have insurance when we all know you can decline especially if you have AMEX. Regardless, ebooking.com knows this their rating is a 1.4, 1.!!!! Do NOT do business with either ebooking or especially HDC rentals in Miami. Scumbags

Service client booking pour les hôtes vraiment déplorable. 20 à 30 minutes pour les joindre au téléphone. Procédure de rappel de sécurité qui fonctionne aléatoirement. Personnel incapable de régler vos problèmes. Informations incohérent, délais aléatoire d'un opérateur à l'autre, un jour on me dit que je vais recevoir un email dans la soirée, puis quand je rappelle, on me dit que cela sera sous 5 jours et parfois 14 jours. Cela fait 2 mois que ça dure...

Don’t use booking or directly at properties
They are some scammers who take advantage of their clients, a few hours before departure I discovered that I had no accommodation, that that property has not been managed for more than a year, I had 4 hours to get to the airport and they were swindling me for a few hundred euros that they had to pay for other accommodation, instead of 600 euros, I paid 2000€, and they swore that they could not help me, only with a much cheaper accommodation in the other part of the city. It was ok for me to pay 1500€ extra..they were not able to pay for their mistake. I WILL TAKE THEM TO COURT

I had a very disappointing experience with a property I booked through Booking.com. The property charged me over $200 for alleged damages (a broken stove) without providing any evidence or notifying me beforehand. The amount was deducted directly from my card without my consent, and I wasn’t given a chance to dispute the claim.
Additionally, Booking.com gave the property my PIN code, which feels like a breach of trust. When I asked Booking.com to review the evidence of the alleged damage, they responded that they don’t handle such requests. Essentially, they allowed the property to charge me without requiring proof or holding them accountable.
When I tried to resolve this issue through Booking.com’s support chat, I received no meaningful help. Emails to their support team were met with generic responses, stating they don’t handle such matters. This lack of responsibility and transparency from both the property and Booking.com has been extremely frustrating.
Booking.com should ensure that properties follow fair practices, notify guests of charges, and provide proof before any deductions are made. Ignoring customer concerns only damages trust. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Booking.com to others.

I booked a flight from Malaga to Perth Australia through Booking.com. I booked and paid for seats on all flights out and back, the day after booking I received a no reply email from Gotogate who are Booking.com’s partners to say that my seat that I had booked and paid for on the flight from Malaysia to Perth was cancelled due to a technical fault. I was told to contact Turkish Airline which I did and they told me to contact Malaysian Airline who informed me that I would need to try and book a seat when I arrived. I am now flying out and do not know if I can get a seat from Malaysia to Perth. I will never do any kind of business with Booking.com or its partners Gotogate as they are totally useless at sorting problems that the make.

I’m incredibly disappointed by how Booking.com has handled my recent experience. Despite providing my payment details through your platform—an action that should guarantee both convenience and safety—I found myself pressured by the hotel to pay through an external gateway or via bank transfer. This wasn’t a simple misunderstanding; it happened despite the hotel already having my card information on file, which they claimed was just a “guarantee.” Yet, instead of using the secure payment system I trust Booking.com to enforce, they effectively pushed me into a less transparent and potentially risky method.
What’s worse is that this isn’t the first time I’ve encountered such behavior from a partner hotel. On both occasions, Booking.com provided no meaningful protection or reassurance. You continue to stand by and allow hotels to operate outside of your own secured payment channels, even though you charge fees and project an image of customer advocacy and convenience. As a longtime user of Booking.com, I chose this platform specifically for its supposed reliability, ease of use, and trustworthiness. Unfortunately, this second encounter makes it clear that you’re neither actively preventing these tactics nor stepping in to safeguard your customers. It feels like you’re simply collecting money while turning a blind eye to questionable practices.
I rely on Booking.com to offer a hassle-free, secure travel booking process. If I wanted external payment links or direct transfers, I wouldn’t have bothered booking through a major platform in the first place. The whole point of using Booking.com is to avoid these red flags: lack of transparency, doubts about data privacy, and the added stress of dealing with shady payment requests. It’s deeply disappointing to see a company I once trusted fail to enforce basic standards among its hotel partners—and fail to protect its customers when issues arise.
Going forward, this experience forces me to rethink my relationship with Booking.com. If I can’t trust you to uphold your own rules and safeguard the booking process, then what value does the platform really provide? Unless you take steps to address these issues and demonstrate a genuine commitment to your customers’ well-being, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.
Zero commitment to stand behind their promise or customer satisfaction
Be certain of having your time and nerves wasted when you need true, sincere and real customer support from the whole Booking organization. Customer support is with the lowest priority for this company and it transparent this is built in their business model, services and culture - from the app and site user experience and all the way when/if you reach a support rep on the phone. Run-around should be expected for whatever reason if you succeed getting a real person on the phone. Good luck it that because finding a direct phone number is impossible in their app or site which speaks volumes of how their perceive customer attention and value connecting back. If you’re in a need of support, which most travelers often need, Booking is basically pushing you only to their mobile app support options which are at best very limiting and useless. I was given a UK and Italian support phone number although I’m in the US, so go figure why I have to dial internationally when my phone subscription plan doesn’t have international service!
So, I had to search elsewhere online to find a direct US support number, which wasn’t easy too. Getting even shadier. When called, it’s nearly impossible to get to a real rep but instead you’re being told to use their app support options. A magician would fail to get to a rep but after hours and days of many calls I figure the path. I talked to 6 different reps during my 3-month journey chasing Booking to honor their commitment to a promise they made to me refunding me less than $200. In those many attempts and calls they REFUSED to provide me with a case number stating it’s a protected and sensitive information. Then they won’t provide with a direct number when the call drops (because it certainlywill EVERY TIME with Booking support), so when you need to call again you don’t have a case number for the next rep to refer to but instead you have to explain your issue from the top. Imagine repeating all that 6 times for 6 different reps and no one. When asked them do they have my phone number and when the answered was ‘Yes’ I asked them to read it back to me they refused stating again this is a sensitive information although they already verified me as the person owning that number, so there’s another flag of shady experience here. When I asked the rep why nobody calls back my number when the call drops they’re stating that the connection problem is always on my end. Being on many calls with them what I figured was that Booking service centers hold you for 1.5 hours and then you’re automatically disconnected. Then the problem is out of the reps hands and up to the next rep whoever that person may be in wherever service center around the globe it happens to be.
If you’re being too stubborn chasing your fair interest from Booking they’ll award you at the end with 25 euros service credit without your knowledge or acceptance to avoid credit card disputes. Another shady and dishonest move.

Aufgrund des Unwetters in Valencia konnte ich nicht von Barcelona nach Paris mit dem Zug anreisen, die Strecke war gesperrt. Dies habe ich booking mitgeteilt, ohne jegliche Reaktion. Die Abbuchung von meinem Konto erfolgte dagegen sehr schnell. Beim Kassieren ist booking schnell. Die Belange der Kunden interessiert diesen Vermittler nicht. Absolut nicht empfehlenswert, nur Abzocke!
Zero customer service.
In addition, the place I stayed had zero information available for the renter. It smelled and was uncomfortable. Booking left it up to my credit card company for a dispute. Customer service is non-existent!
Their website should give you a clear, easily accessible customer service number or website.
And then I get an email from Apple or Microsoft saying that I can contact booking directly which did not work as they wanted reservation number and and then did not answer the phone. Called back, call got dropped. Called back and was never able to get anyone to answer. This is a terrible company to try to get any customer service from!
Unreliable Booking Reviews and Hotel Practices
Our friends and us agreed that the reviews found on Booking regarding this hotel are quite strange and lead us to question their credibility. For some reason, the hotel forced us to cancel our reservation made through Booking and rebook directly with them at a higher price (a difference of several hundred shekels). The ratings on Booking do not reflect the actual experience. Additionally, we are unable to leave a review on Booking because our original reservation was canceled, and we had been forced to rebook directly. On top of that, a major part of the hotel’s facilities were not operational, including the bar, which barely served drinks (and only if we politely insisted with the bartender). This is disappointing. The hotel in question is Leonardo Privilege All-Inclusive Eilat. We will no longer rely on Booking.

J'utilise Booking depuis plusieurs années. J'ai réservé un hébergement à Rome pour une semaine. Le lendemain de la date butoir pour annuler sans frais, ma mère est décédée. J'ai appelé Booking un nombre incalculable de fois (+79€ sur mon forfait téléphone) et impossible de me faire rembourser. J'ai envoyé un mail avec pièces justificatives et n'ai pas obtenu de réponse.
Can’t trust the listings
You get no come back on misrepresentation on a property listed on Booking.com. I booked a place in Ho Chi Min represented as 5 star apartment - paid a bit more as it looked so good. It was slightly further out from city centre so expected something a little bit more high end. Lots of things listed on the listing just did not exist. Many things missing, many things broken - furnishing, though first glance looked ok was unsubstantial. We wasted a lot of our holiday time dealing with incidents. No information given - you had to keep asking about everything. it was an apartment in complex but they only had few apartments to rent and there are signs that short term rentals are prohibited so I was uncomfortable with whole setup - Service was via WhatsApp even though they indicated there was a concierge and front desk. It felt really fraudulent so we left a day early and booked another hotel. When contacting Booking.com they said we would be compensated but maximum compensation is 25 Euros - and by the looks of other reviews this seems to be common practice totally ignore such goings on. The compensation is a laugh. I booked through them thinking it was safer - but in hindsight you can’t trust what us listed therefore you risk every time you book with them. I won’t book through them again. There was some good accomodation through them but it is pot luck but it takes just one bad one - even the reviews seemed fake even though they specify this can not happen. I’m steering clear and seeing they didn't do good by me i will be telling all my friends to steer clear as well and anyone who wants to hear.

Vi måtte så tage 2 overnatninger på et klamt værelse, som hotellet anviste os, vi kunne jo ikke stå 5 kvinder på gaden hele natten i Istanbul. Vi skrev så en mail til booking.. Dagen efter meddelte booking os, at vi jo havde taget imod et erstatningsværelse, så de kunne ikke gøre noget for os........ Nu har de fået foto dokumentation for dette svinske stunt. Vi blev ikke engang indchecket på hotellet de 2 første nætter, så hvis bygningen, vi sov i (som i øvrigt var en ufærdig renovering af en bygning med ledninger stikkende ud af væggen, beskidt og uhumsk)brændte, ville ingen ane, hvor vi var.......... Flot og tusinde tak for hjælpen booking.com (ironi kan forekomme......)
Nu får vi en kompensation på ialt 92 euro til deling...... jeg troede at det var en joke.... Aldrig mere booking.com.
