Excellent service from start to finish. This was our first "train holiday" going from London to Palermo in Sicily and back. The planning from Byway was excellent from the start. The support about how to use the inter rail pass was very good. The hotels we chose were good. The Byways Route planner on the app was a massive help throughout the holiday. All the staff we spoke to were excellent. The proactive rearrangement of bookings to get around strikes or the reassurance that our trains would run was extremely reassuring. The WhatsApp support was speedy and helpful. We would recommend Byways without reservation.

A great company to plan a 'no-fly' trip with. They curate the trip to suit you and are really responsive when anything needs sorting out. Only downside is you have to be happy to use a smart phone to store and show all your train tickets on, needing quite a bit of pre-planninv and during the trip which also meant the phone battery is drained more than usual, so make sure you have a portable charger with you.
But the holiday was great and they are nice people to deal with.

We have just come back from a 3-week adventure across 4 different countries, travelling over 3000 miles (and taking 4 sleeper trains). Byway suggested a beautiful train route through the Alps to Locarno in Switzerland, on Lake Maggiore, which was one of the highlights of the trip, and not somewhere we would have thought of going.

There were glitches (including an Italian train strike) but Byway’s WhatsApp support was excellent, very responsive and everything got sorted promptly. They found out about the train strike before we did and had already sorted alternative travel- I have no idea how we would have done this on our own!

You do have to have a flexible mindset for this type of holiday though- one of our sleeper trains made an unscheduled stop for 5 hours (still don’t know why) and there was no extra food on board (although staff eventually took pity on us and gave us some biscuits and water!)

The hotels Byway recommended were generally clean, comfortable, characterful and extremely well located.

PS make sure you take suitcases with wheels! We didn’t and regretted it!

Such a great way to book a tailor-made rail trip, with advice and back-up at every stage. Good hotels suggested and clear pricing. I made lots of 'tweaks' and their response was always immediate and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Also, you have an emergency contact number to call in case of any problem while you're away, very reassuring

We have done 3 Byway trips now (ultimate destinations: Sarajevo /Helsinki /Trieste) - happy to tailor their proposed itineraries to fit what we wanted. Faced late / delayed / cancelled trains over 3 trips, all dealt with painlessly. Likewise minor hotel hiccups. Great way to travel, curated for what you want

From start to finish the service from Byway was excellent. Responses were as helpful as possible and response times were very very fast. The journey guide provided for our holiday was superb. When our train to Bordeaux was delayed 4 hours by a fire elsewhere on the network, it looked like we were going to be stranded in Bordeaux unable to get to Biarritz that night. But Byway managed to get us reserved seats on a very busy late TGV train into Biarritz and we received them on our WhatsApp support line within 4 minutes of fully explaining our problem. Fantastic service!

A Great Company.
We are an elderly couple (mid and late 70s) who fancied a holiday travelling by train to Southern Spain to visit Seville, Granada and Cordoba. We were unsure if we should take such a long journey by ourselves. We had a couple of problems but Byway were with us 24/7 and they ensured that the problems were quickly and easily overcome. Thank you very much for all your help. We thoroughly enjoyed our adventure.

Slow travel by the experts who are there throughout your holiday to provide extra support- if needed. Our customised trip was great - stunning views, a night train with private compartment, and much more.

We have holidayed with Byway before so we had an expectation which they met, however, this time we experienced a huge failure by the German railways and the Byway support team helped us every step of the way from managing to re-route us, get us new reservations and book us into a hotel in London when it was clear we were not going to get the last train back home.

A great itinerary taking in what we asked for and some other suggestions too.
Hotels were well-chosen and well-located, making all stopovers convenient and enjoyable.

Given this was our first trip with Byway, we found the pre-planning and booking of train and bus journeys to be exceptional and the choice of hotels offered was good too. it gave us confidence to relax and really enjoy the holiday. there was a good mix of history, culture and scenery to enjoy.
We had one query during the trip which was picked up and resolved at the Byway office within minutes.

Byway set up a very easy journey, and documented it well. The accommodation was good and centrally placed, and they were happy to fiddle with arrangements during the planning stage. I have a lot of confidence in them

Byway organised train trip for me and my sister, from rail journeys and tickets to hotels. We travelled from London to Paris, Paris to Milan, Milan to Venice, onto Turin and back to Paris for Eurostar to London. The train journeys were perfect timings to meet out connecting trains and the hotels were first class within easy distance from train stations. Excellent service with the staff and we would definitely use this company again.

Excellent organisation and a great way to travel.

Our first experience of a holiday by train. We took one of Byways tours of Scotland . The whole holiday was real adventure. We only needed help once using the WhatsApp group set up by Byway , got the support needed within 5 mins . Likewise booking the trip all questions were answered positively and promptly. Great company .

Byway planned a custom itinerary for us (3 countries, 5 stops). They listened to what we wanted and respected our limitations as older travelers. The hotels were well-chosen and the logistics worked smoothly. They were available to provide advice for navigating transit strikes. We are extremely pleased with our experience.
