This is nothing short of a scam. I to got sucked into the premium service without warning. When I tried to cancel I found it was near impossible. I stopped payment with PayPal and 4 month later got a letter from a debt collection agency in Luxembourg. When I contacted c-date they basically said that the email id sent them to cancel my subscription wasn’t valid so there was nothing they could do. Absolute scum. Steer well clear.

Update post c-date response: I emailed you to cancel my subscription as your website and online form make this impossible. You know that you make it as hard as possible to cancel the subscription, this is obviously part of your business model.

I have reached out to your service team and they are obstructive and unhelpful. I reiterate -you are perhaps the worse company I have had to deal with… ever. Have a word with yourselves.

Second update:

As I have clearly stated, I couldn’t cancel via your website because the account wasn’t registered to an email address I knew. I emailed you one month before cancelling via PayPal and didn’t receive a reply. I have explained this to your customer service team multiple times.

I have reached out to your customer service team and they have continued to be obstructive and dismissive. Sending the same circular replies.

As a business you refuse to take any responsibility for your actions. Your actions are morally disgusting. Your business model is clearly designed to exploit people. I suggest if you haven’t got the skills to compete in the dating market in a moral way you should admit you’re useless and go and do something else with your lives, preferably away from the rest of society.

Update 3: stop trying to sound professional and empathetic on here. Its nonsense. Your answers are circular both on here and with your customer service team. You don’t care about your ‘customers’, you’re scammers.

Warning from a Google Local Guide (Level 7):

My mistake was not reading the reviews before signing up. Just like hundreds of others, I was suddenly a “premium” member without realizing it, and a huge amount was charged from my account. I first thought it was a one-time payment – but the next month the exact same massive charge happened again.

Canceling was a nightmare: login loops, broken forms, and only copy-paste responses from customer service. Only after quoting EU law did they reluctantly agree to stop my subscription. I received written confirmation, but based on other reviews I still expect fake invoices and threats to come.

👉 And before C-Date replies with their usual “it’s easy to cancel via our form” – no, it’s not. That’s exactly where the scam lies.

💀 This is not a dating service. It’s a business model designed to make cancellation as difficult as possible and drain as much money as they can.

As a Local Guide, I strongly warn everyone: stay away.

Absolutely shocking, my details were used fraudulently to register with this site. I've been hounded by their solicitors based in Frankfurt for money on a membership that I didn't take out. I've explained that to the solicitors "Advokat Radoslav Koychev" with documentation from the police but they still pursue the monies. I've been informed by the detectives looking into the case that many cases are ongoing.

Update, seriously Lea or should I say the random bot who is updating. how can I have cancelled my account when it was set up fraudulently

And as you can see from the reply below they have no concept of what is going on. We have reached out Lea to your customer services team to be told they have no information regarding this and to speak directly with the solicitors as it's in their hands now. So I'm not sure why your telling me to go back to customer services when they won't talk to us. I would presume that they C-Date and Advokat Radoslav Koychev solicitors work in this scam together. If you read reviews of the solicitors, they're equally bad reviews.

It will be interesting to see the outcome of the police investigations ☺️ and in relation to the trading standards of C-Date and the aggressive approach of Advokat Radoslav Koychev

further to note that the act of knowingly pursuing an individual for a debt which is not owed may constitute a criminal offence under Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970 UK

Avoid these chalitans

The site is easy to use and offers lots of potential matches. The one drawback Ifound was that the dearch filters do not work and you get people from all over the country and of unsuitable ages thrown at you indiscimately.

If you register, you will be bombarded with emails and asked to pay money to read them as such.
Unknowingly you will have subsequently signed up for recurrent billing
I have today received a charge of £40, so asked my bank to block my card
i have asked C-Date for a refund, if they don’t oblige i will raise a fraud case through my bank, which i have been advised i can do.
Also cancelling subscriptions is ridiculously difficult

I cancelled my account via their own system and I get an agency trying to get money out of me.
They are the worst site I have ever had to deal with.

huge scam

I joined this site for 1 month and paid for that month. I then cancelled and the service was stopped .
A few months later they say I owe £39.99 . Very strange sounds like a dodgy way to get money.

The guy is saying I didn't cancel. I cancelled the reoccurring payment. You then stopped the service so I got what I paid for.
You are now charging for a service you never gave. You are using this to catch people out. The site itself is terrible it's full of fake profiles. It's a big scam.

Charged me more than the £2 odd that they stated, charged me £9+ iv sent an email to them to cancel my subscription and delete my account. It's a scam

I signed up for C-date in December 2024. It has member profiles who don't respond. I assume they are not real.
I notified c-date emailing them to cancel my subscription in accordance with their instructions and in advance according to their T's & C's.
They did not reply. They then took £39.90 from my PayPal account for the following months subscription, so I canceled the direct debit and advised their service contact of their illegal collection from my PayPal account. They didn't respond.
They have sent me emails for payment plus additional costs that I have ignored.
their collection team SVEA have sent me a letter through the post demanding payment and more cost.
I have no idea how they got my full name and address.
I have replied asking them to stop and return my £39.90

I very much doubt that I will get a reply and I will respond with legal action if they continue to harass me.

DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY. They need to be closed down

Hello I’ve personally never even heard of this website in till received a letter from SVEA asking me for payment of 94,02 apparently the second and final request for payment, I have never received anything before from c-date regarding payment. I’ve spoken to citizens advice and they have reported you to trading standards. I don’t even know how to cancel as never been on the site. Somebody has clearly used my email and registered without my consent. I’m a happily married man and this website would never be for me. Could you please respond

Terrible company. I was browsing and ended up with a huge claim for money, even though I cancelled my subscription. Avoid at all costs.

Bad customer service plus anyone can use your identity to sigh up to it...thay still demand money for a membership that I dint use or dint know I had..I explained all that in an email to them .not heard anything but a letter saying thay won't full payment..joke

I have only just signed up for c-date today 23.05.25 after reading the reviews I have tried to cancel my subscription, I would of thought there would be a coo g down period but that does not seem to be the case , so I have sent a message through their chat app that I would like to cancel my subscription from immediate effect and that I dont want any more money taken from my account , I have given the months notice that is required and as far as I’m concerned this matter is now closed Anne or Noel can you please confirm that I am no longer contracted to your company and that no money will be with drawn from my account thank you

This website is a scam, was charged £9.96 instead of £2.99 shown as subscription fee. I a refund and cancellation immediately. I will also be reporting this site to trading standards.

Telling me I hadent cancelled then this morning a different story that I had cancelled but not on time so still have to pay 1 months worth.

Horrible people signed for one months subscription only, the site was useless, tried everything I could to close my account and they would not engage with me. Send letters from debt collectors now, I will see them in court and report them to trading standards. Avoid cdate the site is just a scam. Facebook have a free dating site. I will make sure as many people know as possible.

Scammed me out of nearly £10 so I cancelled it instantly,not real people!

SCAM. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM SITE
The site is rubbish. No one within 50 miles of me and I live in a city.
Tried to cancel but there is NO facility to do so.
Tried messaging them but they reply stating to cancel via a link ... which DOES NOT exist.

I've cancelled my payment via my bank.

Update: they have now replied and have said that they have cancelled me from mid-May 2025.
So ... assume that they have now done so ... unless i'm back to update to the contrary!
