Weekday Lunch Experience
The staff at the car park, on the platform, in the cafe and on board the train were all friendly helpful and attentive. The food was excellent and portions were more than adequate. Comparing with other similar experiences I feel this was great value for money.
My wife booked as a present and I wasn't disappointed.
She told me the people she dealt with in booking were also helpful, friendly and obliging.
We had never been to tha Staffordshire Moorlands before and we really enjoyed the scenery and the friendliness of the people as well.
We intend to return.

A very enjoyable day!
Friendly and welcoming staff. The train was very clean and comfortable. We were promptly served a traditional Staffordshire breakfast served with plenty of drinks of choice whilst enjoying the scenic views. We found the staff had extensive knowledge of both the journey and railway as well as local traditions. The whole experience was very enjoyable and memorable. Great value for money!

Well organised
Well organised, staff all very friendly and helpful and booking easy and straightforward. A lovely trip.
Some other customers need to consider everyone on these trips though. A couple near us chose to refuse space to other travellers so they could have 2 seats each for themselves and their dog.

We had a brilliant breakfast train on…
We had a brilliant breakfast train on the Churnet Valley railway. We were served a lovely cooked breakfast and the staff were very good. The young man in our carriage (Diana) was very knowledgeable and informative. The steam train journey was wonderful and the carriage with Tiffany lamps and white cloths gave such a feeling of nostalgia for a time gone by.

It was a supposed to be a SCENIC trip
It was a supposed to be a SCENIC trip . However you can't see much in the dark. Had to queue for ages for fish and chips and then sit staring at our own reflections. Timing was all wrong. Really spoilt the family trip out.

We’re sorry to hear that your family trip was disappointing. Your booking was for our 7pm service, and at this time of year daylight is limited, meaning the scenic views are naturally restricted after sunset. Unfortunately, this is something we cannot control.

We had a really lovely experience on the Churnet Valley Railway
We had a really lovely experience in 5he breakfast dining car. The food, service, background music and staff were all amazing and the only reason I haven’t given the experience 5 stars is due to the fact that the train carriage windows were dirty outside and appeared not to hav3 been cleaned in a while. As the sun was shining this actually spoiled the view of the countryside and also inhabited the taking of photos. Other than that everything was perfect and it’s just a shame that attention to detail fell short here.

We’re sorry you felt the windows affected your views and photography. The carriage windows are cleaned regularly; however, when travelling behind a steam locomotive, soot and residue can accumulate on the outside of the windows during the journey. Unfortunately, this can happen even after the windows have been cleaned.
We appreciate your feedback and hope this did not detract too much from an otherwise enjoyable experience.

This is simply the most wonderful…
This is simply the most wonderful experience.
We had the table service English Breakfast on a glorious Saturday morning. Alll the staff are so friendly, efficient and quite lovely.
My only complaint, and it is a small one, thus still a 5 star review, the coffee, shocking. I admit to being a bit of a coffee snob and was looking forward to a decent cup on board so disappointing. Next time I will get one from the tea rooms - I am assuming they have a machine that will give me what I need to go with my sumptous breakfast! But coffee aside, really a wonderful experience!

From the moment we arrived everything…
From the moment we arrived everything was spot on!
We were greeted politely at the car park and informed that we had plenty of time to get parked before the journey begun. The assistant was kind enough to offer help with squeezing in as close to other vehicles but thank goodness I am experienced with parking in ferries so I had no issue.
We then headed to the reception area where we were greated with warmth and given our tickets for coffees and cakes. Ours was not printed on a card with the logo and the gentleman was so apologetic for something that I would have never noticed in the first place!
The ladies in the coffee shop were so lovely and cheerful even having to deal with a massive queue of hugry people! They even gave me a train shapped sprinkle on my coffee :) what a thoughtfull touch!
We then were greated by staff on the platform and shown to the least packed carriage. The carriage was clean and the seats were so comfy! Initially I was sceptical about not having assigned seats, but when we entered, straight away we found a booth all to ourselves!
The journey was so pleasant, the views magnificent, the staff onboard courteous and accommodating, the conductor very helpfull!
On the way back we actually decided to disembark on the half way station and walk by the riverside all the way back as it was such a glorious day!
We drove all the way from Lincolnshire for this and I would highly reccommend it to anyone thinking about booking with you. Do it!!!
Will definitely be back, hopefully with offsprings to share this fab experience which is absolutely fantastic for the whole family!

Lovely experience
Lovely experience , staff were more than helpful and delightful. Food was served in a very timely and organised fashion, food was lovely, and hot, so hats off to all the staff for managing to serve a 3 course meal for 150 heads on a train. Journey through the countryside was idyllic. Great day out.
