The staff were really good! The service was so slick! The guy on the mic was professional , funny and knowledgeable.
If I had to be truly picky I would say please change the jazz music, its annoying 😆,also the portions are too big, you could save some money there.
We loved it and thank you all for the effort you put in , we had a great time!

Only suggestion would be to have some commentary on the train about the history of the area. Easy enough to record something on a loop.

The staff and volunteers made us very welcome. Access and parking good. Dog made welcome. Information on the platform was excellent as was the coffee room and shop. The train itself was extremely interesting and well presented...super clean and top top condition. The trolley service was excellent. Information and safety notices were clear and friendly. Would have liked to have got out of the train at the end but that's my only comment. A great day out for couple family or enthusiasts. Well done

Second visit for the breakfast train. This time we were a group of 4 couples.
The Diana carriage is beautifully presented and the tables set with fresh linen, lovely.
The full English was delicious as usual with high quality sausage and bacon.
The locomotive is a site to behold, fantastic. I am lucky to have a friend who works on the footplate who gives an insight into what is required to make it run.
We will be back for the murder mystery night and the Polar Express with our grandson.
Very enjoyable day out, complimented by my friends for organising.

What a wonderful day. A 5-hour experience of a great heritage railway with so many interesting features. The climb up the steep Ipstones incline, accompanied by an excellent breakfast, and then the return via the seldom used leg of the Leekbrook triangle to the site of the new Leek station. A short trip up the Stoke branch was a first for me and after two passes for the photographers, a guided tour of the workshop and facilities at Cheddleton. Each segment accompanied by an informative talk from the General Manager, and every member of the railway we met was friendly and cheerful. I can recommend the day to any lover of heritage railways.

From the minute we arrived to the minute we left the experience was great the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The service was attentive and the food was well presented will good portions.

Very welcoming. Every station looked well cared for. Carriages were nice and clean. Loco was sparkling. Ticket price was very reasonable. What's not to like?
Just one point - if you can't get the council to remove the misleading brown signs, please mention it on your website. It would have saved me many wasted miles and lost time, which made me a rather stressed person by the time I arrived, as I thought that I might miss the train.

Explorers Day.
Had a fantastic day with Churnett. A special event where we got to ride train, we're served breakfast and got to experience behind the scenes of the workings and infrastructure of the railway.
All the staff were very informative anf helpful. The breakfast we a very good quality. Every effort had been made to the day special.
Feel privileged to have experience this event and would highly recommend Churnett Valley to anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed the day. Breakfast was good! The different routes, talks and behind the scenes tours were excellent. We always try to do something a bit different to find out more when we visit. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. Well done everyone!

My partner and myself went on the Pie and Mash special the check in for food tickets etc was easily carried out by friendly staff the train arrived we collected our food found a table on the train no problem the food was perfectly cooked and piping hot fabulous pies!!! The coach was clean and comfortable a great evening steam train ride with some great scenery in all a fabulous evening at a good price we would certainly do it again a big Thank you to Churnet Valley Railway and all the volunteers.

The Borders Explorer is an excellent day out not to long either 1030am to 4pm. Very good breakfast served at your seat & plenty of tea/coffee etc. You get to travel over parts of the railway which not normally in use on normal running days 7 & tour of the workshops. Very informative commentary from the General Manager about the history of the railway & there plans for the future. Would recommend thi, hope its repeated in the future.

We travelled on the Borders Explorer trip at the weekend. It was a great experience, very well managed and organised. The trip included breakfast on the train and visits to all the extremities of the line, including Ipstones, the new line into Leek and as far as we could go, just a short distance, towards Stoke. At Leek we got off to see what they've done there and hear future plans. At Leekbrook we got off to stand by the track for photo opportunities as the train did two run bys. Finally at Cheddleton we had a tour of the works and the yard to see some of the loco stock and restoration work in progress. I'd thoroughly recommend to all railway enthusiasts and those interested in what CVR are doing, which is very impressive.

We booked on the boarders experience which took us over every foot of track and in some cases more than once.

We had an excellent breakfast but you can also do the trip without a meal and save a few quid.

Best bit was standing by the track while the engine powered past pulling a full set of carriages. Good also to see the site of the planned Leek station.

Excellent well informed commentary about all aspects of the railway. Not always easy to hear due to the mic losing the sound system as the commentator moved around the train.

This was our 4th murder mystery train experience and as always, the entertainment was fabulous. Food was very nice but our vegetarian mains were cold which has never happened before, hence 4 stars instead of five. Also the train broke down but to be honest it just added to the excitement. Overall an amazing evening as always. Thank you.

The whole experience was a joy. The food was delicious and it was nice to have as much tea or coffee as we wanted. Even though the weather was a bit dull, it didn't detract from the lovely views. The staff were all very professional. It was such a lovely way to spend an afternoon. We will return sometime.
