Update on previous review - most issues addressed, one issue remains
Please see my previous review for context. I've posted this separately because I don't have the word count to have both reviews in the same entry haha.
I am writing this updated review because shortly after posting my original review, Craftamo reached out to me and was able to address most of my concerns. They did so quickly and efficiently, but I wanted to wait until after my subscription completed in case any additional issues or resolutions came up. I am satisfied with and appreciative of the speed, kindness, and efficacy of their response to my original concerns, but I have only given my updated review 4 stars because of some other reasons I will address below.
First, the positives! The main issues I raised in my original review were about my items arriving damaged and the inconsistency between my treatment by the customer service team and their stated policies. Two days after I posted the review, Craftamo's Operations Manager reached out to me personally with an apology, an explanation of the policy discrepancy I noticed, and an offer to send me a replacement for my damaged item even though it isn't their standard procedure. They basically explained that since the subscription boxes are sold as sets, individual components (e.g., individual boxes) are not able to replaced as per their regular damaged item policy.
Over the next few weeks, I received my replacement safely in the mail and also saw that Craftamo had updated the site to reflect how they approach subscription boxes differently than their other items. I genuinely really appreciate that they not only sent me a replacement despite it being outside their regular protocol and that they clarified their policy on their website. They were also very kind and quick to respond throughout the process and checked in with me a few more times to ask if I had any other issues over the remaining months of my subscription.
Although I did not have any issues for the remainder of my subscription--the replacement and all of the subsequent boxes arrived in much better condition than my original box--I did notice that the packaging remained the same. From the very first to the very last box, my items arrived in a thin bubble mailer over a cardboard box that is sized to fit snugly around the subscription box. Since my boxes were being shipped to me from overseas, it did make sense to me that this packaging would let them get damaged pretty easily. I also see that unfortunately other customers since my initial review have continued to experience issues with damaged items. This is the main reason why I have not revised my review to be a full five stars.
I do believe that it is probably a lot more difficult and expensive for a company to change or upgrade its packaging than someone who is not involved in the business like me would understand. But I think it is important for me to share my experience with this so that other consumers can make an informed decision about purchasing from Craftamo.
Since my original review, I have gotten to actually use and enjoy my materials. The subscription I got (Emily Hughes's boxes) is curated well, designed well, and the materials have been of good quality. But I have only been able to enjoy them because the items arrived safely! I hope that Craftamo will sincerely consider investing more in the packaging part of its production, since the packaging protects the items that we consumers want to love.

Quality and the personal touch.
The quality of Craftamo’s products is fantastic but their customer service takes it up a notch. I have made many purchases from Craftamo, small and large purchases, and have had a great experience each time. Anytime you have a question or issue they are quick to respond. The products are beautiful and well made and I love their collaborations with their artists. The Craftamo team really loves their product, artists and customers and it really shows. My most recent purchase was last week but I have made many purchases in the last 6 months since I started painting and I’m sure I’ll make many more.

Quality product and easy order
The quality of products is great. It's easy to order. And I don't get buried in junk mail now that they have my email address. The only downside was shipping. It took longer than I expected and the tracking of the package didn't give me much information. But I did get the package timely, I think I was just so excited to get the new brushes I was being impatient. I would order from Craftamo again.

The packaging is seriously inadequate
The packaging is seriously inadequate. I was excited to buy high quality brushes with a nice box to store/carry them. The box is so mangled it is ridiculous. It won’t close. It was shipped in a bubble sleeve. Who ships an item like this in a bubble sleeve? This is so upsetting. I will not buy another item from Craftamo and I’m considering sending this order back for a refund.

Unhappy with customer service response
I have written four emails with no response regarding the automatic Renew on a subscription. I have already been charged for the next 6 months of a subscription and I do not want it to Auto Renew at the end of the 6 months. No one is responding, and there's no customer service phone number to call.

Terrible customer service & quality control
I bought Sarah Burns' travel brushes but there was a manufacturing issue identified with the brushes when I received them in December 2025, where it was impossible to uncap some brushes without the use of pliers.
I understand that the batch manufacturing defect may take some weeks to fix, but unfortunately when I received my replacement brushes in early Feb 2026, they accidentally sent me out the wrong brush despite confirming with me what needed to be replaced.
It is now late Mar 2026, and I still have not been sent out the correct brush. Every time I have had to send emails to Craftamo every week or so, and in return I am emailed a bunch of platitudes, but with no explanation why the correct replacement is still not sent out, except that they are waiting to hear from their fulfillment team - which apparently takes more than 2 months to get back to them.
At no point has Craftamo taken initiative to update me on the issue and timelines for resolution. The brush defect issue was identified in mid-Dec and it has taken them more than 3 months and counting to fix it - if they ever will.
I will not be buying from them again, which is unfortunate as I've had good experiences with their subscription boxes in the past.

Very pleased!
These are the nicest brushes I’ve purchased so far. I’m pretty new at watercolor so I didn’t want to spend a lot on tools until I knew I would enjoy it so I bought very inexpensive brushes at first but soon realized the very low quality. The Craftamo brushes were recommended. I put each bush to use when they arrived and I noticed right away how beautiful they were, how the tips stayed pointed and tight and how smooth my art was. They are also very easy to use and keep clean. I thought they were reasonably priced for the higher quality. I highly recommend this brush set.

Excellent brushes and great customer service
I was very excited to be able to order the Sarah Burns Travel Brushes. I had a problem with a few of the brushes but Craftamo were amazing in their help and support - I am very impressed! The brushes are very good quality - I have been using the for both gouache and watercolour. I love the variety of brushes included in the set. I couldn't be happier!
