I rent only a few items from these guys, ask if I need to put any money down and they tell me on multiple phone calls that I do not seeing as I'll be paying with a credit card. They failed to mention, however, that the credit card needed to have enough available for the $2,500 insurance deductible to be put on hold in the case of busted equipment. They didn't mention this until I was a full state away going to set with my actors and holding my DP and Producer up there. Also, being a student, not being told about needing a line of credit that large can be quite problematic as some of us aren't approved for or don't want the burden of cards that large. In addition to their awful ability to communicate the full reality of how their system works, they also claimed I was not listed with the insurance. My program coordinator had to send it out twice before these nimrods got it together and realized I was, as a matter of fact, approved even though they had an up to date list in the first place. The fact that I even had to pay these cretins for anything after an hour of back and forth phone calls between departments and asking for favors for a credit card that also needed ID approval and had to be filled out on their archaic form system is just salt on the wound. CSI needs some Crime Scene Investigation because there is some serious blood on the walls there from the employees banging their heads trying to figure out how to spell customer service, let alone know how to actually do it. I will never be dealing with them again and if you're a student, do what's good for you and don't even begin to.

Their webpage is as good as it gets and their services are fast and reliable.

Everytime I rent with CSI they treat you like family. They even offer recommendations when they see some blind spots on your order. I would recommend them to all filmmakers and production personnel.

I've been renting from CSI for over 5 years. CSI generally gets the job done and provides what I need. Some people there work extra hard to give you what you need and answer questions. And some customer service reps bristle with every request as though you are asking for extraordinary things. I've had mixed experiences. I rent from them for their convenience. Generally it's fine.

Everything was perfect and customer service was polite and efficient.

Made a last minute reservation. It was ready early on a Friday with smiles on everyone's faces. Found my rental house.

I was a first time customer: the process was super easy, quick. The lens I rented was in great condition. I could not be happier and will absolutely be a repeat customer!!!

CSI Rentals is my go-to place for camera/shoot equipment rental. They have the latest equipment so that I can test it out (such as the Sony A7SII and DJI OSMO camera) and are always helpful making sure I rent everything I will need for a shoot. They will throw in a hand truck when my gear is too much to carry--just great helpful and knowledgeable service...along with great prices. As with many rental houses, their weekend rate is GREAT--letting you rent from Thursday 3p to Monday morning for a one day rate.

So easy to work with! I placed an order very, very last minute the night before and it was ready to go in the morning when I arrived!

These guys are incredible. Super friendly and able to adjust orders and make recommendations. A great all around shop that I'll be going back to much more frequently.

Great gear, good value for the price, organized, on schedule. If you're lucky you'll get to watch the staff bicker with each other about political issues. It's quite entertaining.

CSI is fantastic. Their prices are reasonable and they always seem to have everything I need. They don't make you put down a ridiculous deposit to rent equipment which makes it feasible to use items for shoots that you potentially can;t afford to buy. The staff is always nice and helpful too. I will only rent from CSI in NYC.
