I had an excellent experience with Healthcare Abroad when I travelled to Spain for my surgery. From the very beginning, everything was organised perfectly, and the whole process was much easier than I expected.

What I appreciated most was how well everything was taken care of. I didn’t have to worry about the arrangements or the details, as they guided me through every step of the process, including the HSE reimbursement paperwork. This made the whole experience so much less stressful.

The hospital and medical team were great, and I felt well looked after throughout my journey. Everything ran smoothly, and I’m very happy with the overall experience.

I would definitely recommend Healthcare Abroad to anyone considering surgery abroad, especially for those facing long waiting lists in Ireland. Their organisation, support and professionalism make the entire process so much easier. I’m really grateful for all their help!

From the time that I landed in Malaga and met David, I knew that I was in safe and capable hands.
The accommodation was excellent and so was the food.
I was brought to the hospital for my pre-assessment and back to the hotel by Dave. On the day of the operation Dave was there waiting, as usual, to bring in for my surgery.
After surgery, Dave brought all my belongings to the hospital ward.
Afterwards, Dave was there to bring me to all hospital and physiotherapy appointments.
Dave was so helpful, that he even went to Lidl to do some shopping for me.
Everything from the second I left home and arrived back home was fantastically organised by Homecare Abroad.
I would highly recommend them if you need a hip (in my case) or knee replacement procedure.
10 out of 10 for the treatment and pleasant company from Homecare. 👍🏼

The drivers (suzanne and sean),surgeon Dr Klien,physios gorge and Juan and accomadation at evoca which was a 5 star experience..
From the lovely Suzanne meeting me at the airport(both times 2022 and 2026)to lovely Sean bringing me to airport for my journey home
They all went over and beyond in their care of me..
I didn't have to worry or be afraid to ask for advice or help ..

I also travelled alone and this was not an issue ..
I do not regret the decision to use Healthcare Abroad and I would recommend anyone to make that call ...

What made my experience with Health care abroad was the efficiency of every member of staff. From the initial inquiry to the actual surgery, everything went so smoothly. I cannot recommend this company enough. If you're looking to have surgery abroad, look no further. The hospital was great. I would recommend to bring a firestick and use your phones broadband for the tv in the room. The accommodation that Health care abroad use in alicante is really top class. A bit quiet but it's absolutely beautiful plus the physiotherapy is on site, so no need for travelling to and waiting around hospitals. The physiotherapy supplied by George and Juan, is excellent. Myself and Members of the group that travelled to Alicante are definitely going back with this company for our second hip replacement, (if or when) it's needed.
My right hip is showing signs of needing replacement at a later stage, and I won't be looking an further than Health care abroad. I would to thank all the staff for all they did for us while we we in Alicante. A big thanks in particular to Sean & Suzanne. Thanks guys.

I had the most amazing experience with Healthcare Abroad from the moment i enquired about getting my shoulder surgery done, making the decision to travel, arriving meeting the surgeon. Everything ran like clockwork. There was no waiting, no queues. Never once was i passed from pillar to post. The procedure went smoothly. The aftercare was amazing and physiotherapy was top class. The healthcare abroad team- Suzanne and Sean went above and beyond to help us out. I would urge anyone who is awaiting any procedure/operation to contact HCA.

Had my left hand operated on 23rd September 2025 to have finger straightened ( Viking Finger )
Went back and had the right hand finger operated on 2nd September 2026. I am beyond happy to have both fingers straight again. I can now get back into household gloves. This is something I couldn’t do in years so thank you so much.

Highly professional, caring support from start to finish

I had a very positive experience with Healthcare Abroad. I was on a waiting list for surgery in a public hospital in Ireland and was in constant pain every day. When I came across the HSE Cross Border Directive scheme, the forms and process initially felt overwhelming, especially given my condition.

From our first phone call with Chris made everything much easier. They arranged for me to have surgery in Madrid in less than two weeks and took care of all the paperwork. They also helped me apply for a credit union loan, which I needed to pay for the surgery.

They organised everything and talked me through each step. I only needed to book my flight and accommodation myself. They also provided a free transfer, but my driver, Javier, was much more than a driver. He accompanied me to my appointments, visited me in hospital, and made sure I was well looked after—especially important as I was travelling alone as a woman.

The hospital and doctors were excellent, and my surgery went very well. I am very happy with my experience with Healthcare Abroad and can only recommend them. Since then, I have told everyone: if you are on a waiting list in Ireland, do not wait—call Healthcare Abroad.

From start to finish my experience with Health Care Abroad was excellent. Chris, the company owner, & all the team helped to make what could have been a very stressful process, a very straightforward, personal & reassuring one.
The Dr who did my op, Dr Lucas Minig was an excellent communicator, he was warm & empathic, highly professional & he was very kind. He checked in with me several times post-op & even called me while he was on holidays in Argentina!
He provided his contact email & number so I could be in touch with any questions or concerns I might have at any stage - even now that I'm back home in Ireland.
You were treated like a patient & a friend by all the team.
I expected the usual formal & professional treatment, but I got informal, warm, always-available, caring & professional - it really helped put my mind & my family's minds at rest.
The drivers were excellent, again they went the extra mile & made sure you had everything you needed & that you were where you needed to be on time, checked-in for your appointments & were brought back to the accommodation swiftly afterwards, there were no long waits, or "sorry Im not available just now" - just yes, we can do that, get that for you, organise that - whatever - nothing was too much hassle.
Recovering in such a beautiful setting (Deynia Hotel, Denia) was very benifical too. The facilities are great, they have a beautiful pool, a spa & the rooms have big powerful showers, fridges & very comfy beds & sofas, some rooms have kitchens & most have balconies - its even possible to get a loan of a wheelchair, or hire a mobility scooter. The food was excellent,fresh, tasty, loads of choice & all very reasonably priced. The town centre is a 10min walk & has lots of beautiful shops, places to eat, etc & 3 beautiful marinas packed with fab reasonably-priced restaurants.
Many other Health Care Abroad patients were staying at the hotel & there was a great atmosphere of comaradarie, mutual understanding, care & support & the craic was great too!
I would certainly highly reccommend HCA after the fantastic experience I've had with them.

From the very first call at 9am on a Monday morning, where I was crying in pain, I was told Healthcare Abroad would take care of me.
4 Monday mornings later I was in a hospital in Valencia, 2 days post op.
A review cannot convey how incredible this company is.
Amazing communication from the Irish team- Debbie and Sandra prior to travelling, absolutely nothing was a problem.
Met at airports either side, HCA staff were literally there from start to finish of the whole experience.
Upon arrival, the Valencia team- Amy, Adam, Frankie were outstanding.
Regular communication / in person interactions, so friendly, helpful, efficient.
Brought to and from physio sessions in the hospital everyday - have to mention Sergio and his team, whose kindness, patience and expertise we will never forget.
My partner and I felt like we were on a family holiday with all the other patients, dont go alone, hire a mobility scooter, see Valencia and for any surgical requirements Healthcare Abroad truly are Magic.

The trip was so well organised and everyone were so helpful, I would advise anyone that is waiting to have a procedure done to consider Healthcare abroad.

Our experience was way beyond anything we expected. The team are 5 star and experts at what they do to make your stay in the Hotel, Hospital and your procedure go as smoothly as possible. The HCB staff are like family and go out of their way to answer any queries or issues you may have, they make sure you are comfortable at the hotel and they take you to all your hospital appointments on time each day. The Hospital is state of the art, absolutely spotless and all appointments are timed exactly, no waiting around. The Medical and nursing staff are in a field of their own. They are all excellent communicators and you can put all your trust in them. The aftercare was excellent and my physio started very soon after my knee operation, it was carried out with very well trained and kind, sympathetic physiotherapists who knew how to deal with any problem. The whole experience was just 100 percent perfect and beyond our expectaions. If you have an issue that you need to get sorted, I would advise not hesitating anymore, just make that first phone call and that gets the ball rolling, you will be in expert hands and you will actually enjoy the whole experience from when you step off the plane until you return home!! I am so grateful to all the team, I was genuinely sorry to leave, it did not feel like major surgery, more of a restful holiday. Thank you team HCB

All the people I dealt with from admin staff to the drivers were so on the ball, chatty and helpful. Everything was smooth and perfectly organised and so quick.

I had a great experience with the hospital staff the Doctor nurses drivers and the organisation of it all.
Even down to the hotel it was the most comfortable I felt having surgery ever and I’ve had many.

From the minute I arrived in Valencia, Healthcare abroad were there to help in all areas of the journey , from transfers to hotel and hospital they were fantastic and made me feel at ease with the process

I had never heard of Healthcare Abroad before until I heard lady on local radio station talking about her experience. I googled them as she was talking and completed the form. I received a callback. All seemed to to good to be true. I was wary because it seemed unreal. I messaged the lady on Facebook that was on radio and her reply reassured me and I continued to proceed with my application. Healthcare Abroad does live up to all its promises, offering a top class medical experience with a really compassionate, approachable and efficient team there to help at every step. Anyone who is concerned shouldn't be and just make contact with Healthcare Abroad. From admin staff right up to surgeon everyone is so so helpful and go above and beyond for you.
It is a magnificent service and more Doctors here should be aware of it and offer patients the option. Cannot recommend Healthcare Abroad enough.
