AVOID!! TOTAL SCAM! HOW DO THEY STAY IN BUSINESS??

After booking an oceanfront suite w/ Hilton on the phone (opting not to book on Expedia for the exact same price), I was asked if I wanted to take a quick survey for some bonus Hilton points. I usually decline an surveys or bonus offers, but the reservation agent was so nice, I decided to give her a positive review. WHAT A MISTAKE! After being pitched an obvious timeshare scam by the sweetest scammer ASHLEY LAVOIE ID#76294, somehow, ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS HILTON, I was convinced into giving my credit card info BEFORE they read the fine print to me. Being apprehensive, I had asked questions & taken a lot of written notes during the pitch, so I was able to skim along the contract details as they were quickly read back to me at the end of the call. Immediately, there were contradictions in what was previously said, including tons of extra charges, black out dates, every option to be was based on The Clubs approval, and so on. At least 3-4 times I politely questioned her on these discrepancies and she would reply with some teleprompter quip about how much fun we would have & would continue... Finally, I became more emphatic and kept saying "cancel, cancel""This is not what I signed up for, I want to cancel""That's not what you told me earlier, cancel". At one point she did pause because my wife & daughter are now in the background yelling to Ashley to cancel the deal, and she said "Look, I've been on the phone w/ you for 48 minutes, we are doing this & you will love it". Then she ignored my last few loud interjections as she raced through the last minute of her disclaimer before hanging up on us!! I called my bank & spent the next 30 minutes unwinding the payment. what a total pain!! We travel frequently & will now avoid Hilton whenever possible until I see them close down this scam, whether they are affiliated or not. You will not get even close to what they promise you. My deal was supposed to cost me $500. You will be charged anything more than any reservation you make that costs more than $500. And any offers at the back end of the deal are not mentioned in the disclaimer after you give them you credit card details. You've been warned.

THE HGV TIMESHARE CHALLENGE

The location? It couldn't be better. You're right in the heart of Vegas without breaking the bank on your accommodations. Sounds good so far, right?

However, there's a catch: constant sales pitches. Trying to relax while dodging ownership upgrade requests feels like being in a timeshare version of the Hunger Games. And those sales reps? Their "facts" can be, let's say, a bit flexible.

Are you considering using this timeshare outside the U.S.? Don’t. The options are about as exciting as a kid's menu at a steakhouse. Those “extras” they promote? Not worth writing home about.

Bottom line: It's a decent option if you can handle the hard sell and maintain a sense of humor. Practice your “no thanks” face. If you’re tempted to buy, stick to the cheapest plan to see if it's worth it. If Vegas becomes your go-to destination, consider upgrading later. Just remember, like owning a house with a pool, the novelty fades, but the costs remain.

This isn’t a decision to take lightly. And unlike the saying, what happens in Vegas doesn’t stay there—you’ll keep paying for it long after you leave. Buyer beware.

I HATE THIS HILTON GRAND VACATIONS AND I REGRET MY…

I HATE THIS COMPANY AND I REGRET MY PURCHASE!!!
We attended a presentation for Hilton Grand Vacations vacation club and thought it could work for us. It didn’t take long before I regretted my decision. They show so many ways to use their program that it is hard to comprehend it all. They tell you that around 90 days later they will have you stay at a property and they would go over all the advantages. We attended this information presentation, however, all it was is an another sales pitch to get you to increase your purchase. We told the agent that we just wanted to know how we can make full use of this vacation club. He said he would get to it. He never did. All he did was try to get us to purchase additional points in their club. We told them we weren’t interested in spending any more and they would not let it go. We just wanted to know how to make full use of what we had.
I HATE THIS COMPANY AND I REGRET MY PURCHASE!!!
Their app and website are terrible! I can rarely find anything that I am looking for. The app has quit working fully. I used to be able to pay my mortgage for our purchase there but now it just freezes up before I can complete it, so I have to go on to the website to do that. It is difficult to find a property where you desire to travel, even though the presentation claims you can use their program everywhere. I have not found that to be the case.
I HATE THIS COMPANY AND I REGRET MY PURCHASE!!!
I receive multiple emails from HGV every day! They offer you deals at this property or that property, or use your points to book this cruise, it never ends! Or their newsletter, which is just another sales promotion.
I HATE THIS COMPANY AND I REGRET MY PURCHASE!!!
Trying to get customer service is frustrating!
The non-ending on hold message repeatedly tells you to go online or use their app for faster service. However, sometimes you want answers you can’t find on the website. You can save unused points over to the next year, but it will cost you $139, but if you use a customer service agent then it will cost you $159. However, if you want to save your points after November 30, they charge you an additional $100. So get all the answers you need from the customer service agent, then hang up and try to get it done using the app. I tried to save my points but while doing it, the area I was trying to save them to somehow changed to depositing my points for an RCI exchange for a larger dollar amount. Now I had to call customer service and the agent was very condescending and after consulting with a manager, they were able to redirect my points to where I was trying to save them, as a one-time customer curtesy.
I HATE THIS COMPANY AND I REGRET MY PURCHASE!!!
We have decided that we want to exit the vacation club and so I found place on their website where they will assist you to do so. I filled out all the information and submitted it and received an e-mail saying, “No further action is needed at this time. We will reach out to you once we review the form.” I submitted the form the first time over 2 months ago! I have done so 2 more times and have also called the phone number for the resale team and left a message. I have not received any response! Their initial email reply also says, “We strive to respond as quickly as possible to all resale inquiries. Calling, emailing or resubmitting a new form will only delay our response to you as we review all inquiries in the order in which they are received.” Perhaps they have so many people trying to resell their purchase that it takes many months to get back to new requests.
I HATE THIS COMPANY AND I REGRET MY PURCHASE!!!
Please do not do business with HGV. They are only interested in selling points in their vacation club using long promotions, pressure and what I believe is misleading information and then later trying to get you to upgrade your purchase.
I HATE THIS COMPANY AND I REGRET MY PURCHASE!!!

Thank goodness I only spent $119

Thank goodness I only spent $119 on a trip I never took. As a Hilton Honors member I am offered trips to stay in the Hilton Grand Vacation Club often and recently I fell for it. As soon as I paid the $119 for a 4 day, 3 night stay in New York I realized that I was scammed. The salesperson on the phone offered me a specific place with a specific type of room. He never said that it was first come first serve and that I would essentially receive a very tiny hotel room and would then have to find my own travel to the timeshare sales office in the building I was offered to stay in. I tried to share this information with the person that was booking my reservation and she did not care. She said I should never have been promised that. Although she tried to accommodate me, it was one snag after another. I gave up the reservation and booked a hotel room for my trip. After reading reviews, I realize I am lucky!

What a scam

What a scam, a very pushy sales process with lots of promises that are NOT kept. I was told I would have access to over 7000 Hilton properties to utilize my points on. This is NOT so, you have relatively few to choose from compared to what I was told. STAY AWAY and save your money. Regretting a six figure cost to become a member.

I purchased a vacation package with…

I purchased a vacation package with Hilton while I was staying at one of their hotels in Orlando. I was told at the time of purchase that I could use it any where in the USA or world wide within 13 months of purchase. I called to use the reservation in San Diego and I have received the most inappropriate service from Hilton. Excuses: The location is not available , we do not have the staff… so, do not let them scam you like they did to me. I cannot believe that such of a reputable name as Hilton is using a predatory marketing and misleading customers. Scamming the public to make a dollar.

Big promises no delivery and nobody to…

Big promises no delivery and nobody to contact to resolve any issues. Big regrets and a waste of money! I would discourage any Australian from purchasing in the Hilton Timeshare program. We have been involved now for several months and had to pay to roll over points due to no access to falsely promised easy access system and plenty of available vacation options.

What a brilliant scam

What a scam. They sell you points at a high pressure presentation by showing you the wonderful resorts that are available in their network. Problem is, after you've paid and get your online access you find that yes, they have hundreds of resorts BUT, none have availability! HGV actually rents out the properties and that's why timeshare owners are locked out. If you go to the public HGV site or booking.com or hotels.com you will see availability but then check the timeshare owners' site and you'll see there is nothing available.

We paid over 100K for the promise of worldwide 'free' vacations for life. They told us we could pass our ownership to our heirs but turns out that's not true either. Our points are worthless yet we still have to pay almost 10K 'maintenance fees' each year. What they do should be illegal.

Total scam

Total scam. I was so stupid to buy into it and this is the biggest mistake I've made in my life. I'm literally throwing away money. I don't get my Hilton Diamond benefits and when I search for properties abroad there's almost never anything, when I find something it's usually much more expensive than on the website for that resort. I tried looking for cruises, turns out you get a little discount but they take a lot of points. For example for an Alaska cruise next May 2025 they take 5600 points for a $400 discount on a room with balcony. I've stayed in Hawaii for 4 nights for 3500 points. Overall it really isn't worth it. I'm paying nearly $1500/year just in maintenance fee and that's on top of the $17,000 for the cheapest membership you could find, where I get points every other year. My biggest disappointment is that I love the Hilton brand, that's why I'm a Diamond, but HGV is such a car salesman's scam that the only thing in common is the name Hilton. You could say: you knew what you were signing into... well. yes and no. The amount of things they don't tell you is insane. For example I cannot book one of the nicer hotels in Las Vegas because (I only found out on a recent visit there) I don't buy into a higher membership. Even the sales agent there (at another presentation) told me that they do anything to get you in, and then it's a sale pitch after another. I wish I could get out. I'm an idiot for falling into it. This is such a bad stain on Hilton's reputation, I don't understand how they can allow it. Look around, you'll find almost only complaints and a few fake compliments. The government needs to step in and allow to get out of the contract within a year. not just 3 days.

Total Scam!!!!!

Total Scam!!!!!! Purchased the package for 4 days 3 nights. Given all kinds of incentives but NONE of them showed up on the follow up email. I called but they said "the system did not allow us to give it to you in writing". WOW...Then I tried to book to receive the 15,000 points bonus for booking in 30 days...but...there is a 90 day black out period. WOW, They said they would extend for 1 year but actually shortened it to 6 months...Once again....."the system does not allow to give you anything in writing".
I wasted 4 hours of my life with these shysters and finally got my money back...What a shame that a company like Hilton operates such a shady operation....I am done with Hilton..

Remember- they wouldn’t do it if it didn’t make them money

Went through the presentation- Please be careful! They really lost me when they had us wait to take a survey after we said not, and just had a higher up came out to try and sell us on a different package. Remember they compare it to buying a home to get you in the door but you would never buy a home without sleeping on it first! That’s how they get you. Is they what you to lock in on the spot. Dude said no pressure and the second I told him I would not commit to that purchase without sleeping on it, he turned smug.

Hilton Grand Vacation is a total scam

Hilton Grand Vacation is a total scam. They tell you lies during the sales pitch to sell ownership packages, make you sign a contract in a rush and then keep charging exorbitant sum of money periodically. Once you buy the package, you are stuck with it. We never realized Hilton would do this to customers. I would have given it a zero star if I could.

We are timeshare owners with Hilton…

We are timeshare owners with Hilton Grand Vacations. My advice to anyone considering buying into HGV is to turn around and run. You will regret it. We are currently stuck with a timeshare where the rules and costs are constantly changing. Worst of all, we are stuck with it. Anyone doing their research would not buy into this scam. Unfortunately, we didn't do any research and as a result made a very bad decision. Be aware: When you go on vacation and use your timeshare you will be enticed (every single time) with prepaid visas or special promotions to convince you into going to "owner updates" or "presentations" which you will be promised will last no longer than one hour. You will not be out of these high pressure sales presentations, nor will you get the promised gifts, for at least a couple hours. We have never regretted anything more. Please do your research before being conned.

Promises Promises - not fulfilled

Promises Promises; but not fulfilled!
The absolute worse company and I don't know why Hilton continues to do this to tarnish their brand?!
I was promised:
- 15 months to schedule a stay, I was provided 12 months.
- 2K Hilton points for taking the call and listening to options, I was provided 0 Hilton points
- $195 waiver to book 'for free' a room during the "high season", I was not provided that waiver
- Scheduled to be awarded 40K Hilton points after staying at the time share and listening to the 2 hour time share presentation, I learned my 'record' had 25K Hilton points scheduled to be awarded. That was after I called HGV the night after I purchased the "amazing" offer and asked what I was actually going to receive for booking and going through the 4 day, 3 night stay.
I cannot believe these people actually can get away with the lies. Please be careful when using them.

Avoid HGV, terrible experience

We attended a timeshare presentation in Orlando at Mystic Dunes. The sales representative was a woman named Baby. Initially, she was overly friendly, but after my husband started asking uncomfortable questions about the cost of the packages and pointed out that they were withholding details, her demeanor completely changed. She got really upset, said we were interfering with her work, threw a paper, and stormed off. We were in shock. Five minutes later, she returned and said we were disqualified. This happened after we had already been there for 1.5 hours. Then came verbal abuse, accusing us of not listening to her, not letting her present, and not appreciating how great HGV is and how wonderful it is to travel with them, even though she didn’t know where anything was located in the U.S.

We mentioned that we had previously purchased a VIP package from Hilton and had a poor experience using it. They had no availability, and in the end, we had to book the last available option in Hawaii, which was during our children's school year.

She then asked, "Did you drive there?" We smiled and said no, we flew. Later in the conversation, we mentioned Wyoming, and she asked, "Did you like the beaches there?" This should give you an idea of the caliber of the person representing the travel network.

She behaved like a wild animal, threatening us that we could leave and pay the full cost of our stay since we were disqualified. I tried to argue, "Don't we have the right to ask questions? We need to understand this." She retorted, "You should listen to me, it's my job. You guys are here to shut up, hand over your money, and buy our membership." She was practically bouncing in her seat. We were in shock and stayed silent. I told her, "We are listening to you." She sarcastically replied, "Oh, I can continue, right?"

Then she went back to talking about prices and confusing us with her tales. My husband couldn't take it anymore and politely said, "Okay, can I explain something mathematically?" Surprisingly, she agreed! But she couldn't understand anything he was explaining. She even used a calculator for 7*8. When her little brain overheated, she ran to get her supervisor, who was equally rude. They both tried to make absurd arguments for their overpriced packages and belittled us, talking to us like we were garbage.

In the end, we wasted 3.5 hours on this pointless presentation. The enraged women eventually wrote us a refusal to purchase their membership. Hallelujah. We will never set foot in this network again with such treatment. How can you buy a membership from a company where the representatives are animals? Avoid HGV, it's a bunch of angry b!t$&s.

Know What You Are Getting

Look, HGV timeshare is a simple process. Determine how much you travel per year and that will dictate if timeshare works for you. If you do not travel more than 3 times a year I will inform you NOT to buy timeshare. If you do then it’s simple l, do the math. Check to see what HGV maintenance fees and HoA fees are yearly or bi-yearly and match that cost up to your yearly cost without timeshare.

Now, the kicker is you have to be very, very, very careful when dealing with timeshare representatives during the presentation. Some will mislead you with fabricated information especially on VIP quick package deals. Always, listen again, always NEVER buy during the meeting. Take all that information and as a couple go out, have lunch or dinner and think about what you are getting into and know that you can’t get out of it for the rest of your lives but it can be transferred to your children and that’s if they wish to take on that burden.

With that said, also get the hilton American Express credit card for the 99 dollar annual fee. Once you spend the qualifying amount per year you will get a free night stay at any Hilton property. I look at it this way. I pay the 99 dollars and stay at the LX resort world in Vegas which those rooms can go for 800 or more depending on the month.

Once again, do not trust any sales rep as they will try to reel you in with small talk about your employment to your kids and your life will match equally to theirs as if there was a connection. Lol. That’s their sales pitch, they will give you their number as if it’s a personal thing however, you don’t need their personal number all you need is your common sense. Do not buy the same day buy the next day and that’s if you still wish to purchase. Trust me that same deal will be available the next day and if not trust me they will send you another invitation to do it all over again so take your tone and make the best decision for you and your family.

Personally, as a timeshare owner, HGV is overpricing their units and if you purchase let’s say a unit for 50,000 you will not be able to sell it back to HGV for that amount. You will be lucky if HGV offers you $3000 and catch this. If you wish to sell to someone else, you must present that offer to HGV first as they have the first rights to buy back. And if you just wish to sell back to HGV without a buyer HGV will low ball you like no other. lol.

With that said, timeshare is good for some and for others it is not. I tend to like timeshare however, what I don’t like is the massive amount of sales reps lying to customers just to get a sale. That I can’t deal with and is pathetic as HGV knows this happens.

FYI: If you don’t do anything else do the one thing. Record your entire conversation with the sales reps if you are in Vegas. Las Vegas is a one party state meaning you don’t have to inform the representative you are recording. I’ve done that on every occasion and when I proved by way of recordings that HGV reps lied, I was abled to get out of 100% of all disagreements with HGV.

To those who got suckered into timeshare like o did 12 years ago, trust me you can make those points work for you just use them during low season and special reduced point offer stays and you will learn to live it.

I just can’t see paying $65,000 for a one bedroom that only allows me two vacations if I use during high season. Lol. If you purchase from HGV let it be known their interest rates are 14.9% for 10 years depending on your credit. I would highly advise to pay cash as I did. Good shopping and don’t get taken as if you do you didn’t read my comment throughout! lol
