Just bought the curtains. Seems to be helping decrease the noise go through the doors. Might buy more.

I own a duplex/maisonette - in which two bedrooms overlook the living room via an interior sliding window.

I needed some thing to dampen the sound coming in and out - and this worked.

I ordered the "Soundproof Curtains" after seeing other reviews about their effectiveness at reducing outside noise.

After receiving the curtains, we realized that the measurements I'd sent in had not been followed. You're instructed to add a certain number of inches around the outside to allow for the Velcro to seal the curtains to the wall. The sewn-on Velcro was placed a few inches in from both the top and bottom of the curtain, and also in a bit from the sides, so it falls within the area of the window itself, and the curtain cannot be sealed.

We haven't noticed any reduction in sound from the curtain. I don't know if this is because we are unable to seal it, or if it's because we already have double paned windows and a solar cellular shade which may dampen the same amount of sound this curtain would have, but regardless the curtain was simply an expensive window covering that did little to improve our noise situation.

I purchased the Acoustitrac for a laundry closet. My desk is right next to it, so the washer and dryer would drive me crazy. There is now an appreciable decrease in sound. I can still hear the machines, but it is now bearable. I no longer have to turn my music up when the machines are running.

I was hoping that the curtain would do even more sound reduction, but there is a vent into my office from the closet that the curtain does not cover, plus we share a drop ceiling so sound can travel above the ceiling tiles and down to me, so I can't complain. It does the job.

Installation was difficult as I discovered that the area above the frame to the closet had no wood, just dry wall. The anchors provided were inadequate and wouldn't grip the drywall. They kept falling out. so I went with Wall Dogs, which were perfect. The provided anchors are why I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5.

Very happy with our curtain. It blocks out the noisy street and even lawn mower sounds are barely heard. It's made extremely well. High recommend if you don't mind a darkened room.

At first we were skeptical by what we considered to be a high price, but after receiving our order it was clear it was well worth every penny. I would highly recommend.

I was buying 5 curtains and one door curtain for a little studio in New York, back in October 2014. The goal was to fight noise, light and cold/hot weather.

- buying experience: they didn't ship on time, so I received them late, despite having checked before hand when they could ship.
- receiving the product: out of the 5 standard curtains, one was missing the holes to hang them, so i had to send it back, wait another two weeks as the refused to ship before receiving the faulty one, despite me having sent pictures, and tracking number. A second curtain was also damaged because of the lack of adequate packaging and had to go back (the curtains are super heavy, the cardboard box in a not strong enough and not reinforced).
- the hooks they provide are picture hangers, so they are no good as you can only pin them to the wall, too small to screw them. Because of the issues we had they agreed to send their other hooks, free of charge... much better, but then they don't stay in contact with the wall, letting a space at the top of the curtain (and noise and light going through). They claimed it had never happened, despite me sending pictures.

Finally the main issue on the large curtain door. I am in NYC, so the winters are cold. This is a curtain door, so it's against the entrance door, that is the main door going to the street. As the curtains insulate heat and cold as well, the door during winter gets below freezing, so does the curtain... that then cracks everywhere.

They had mentioned when ordering they would repair curtains under warranty for normal use. Now they claim that "The cold weather or winter is way beyond our control. If something is placed under a very cold weather, surely it will get frozen and crack."
Again, this has never happened to them in the past, so they say.

I would stay away if you are North of Miami.

WE have loud barking dog next door and this curtain completely sound proofed this window. We covered the curtain with a white shear curtain, this way you don't see the acoustic curtain. Thank you Residential Acoustic.

We ordered with probably unreasonable expectations on sound dampening qualities, but it does work as advertised. We just live in an incredibly loud downtown environment. The difference the curtains make is substantial, just not miraculous like we'd hoped. We would certainly recommend, just know it's not going drown out commuter trains completely. The production and shipping was fairly quick considering the size of the curtain we ordered as well.

I am very happy with my AcoustiDoor purchase from Residential Acoustics:Sound Proof Curtains! The waiting process was a little overwhelming after ordering, as it took almost 4 weeks to receive it, but it was worth the wait!

I never give bad reviews and try to understand the perspective of the other person, but I can't allow this product to continue to be sold as is. From the moment I ordered this product- acoustic-curtain on 1/26 until I received it nearly 5 weeks later there were nothing but problems. It should have been divided into two curtains which would have made it much more manageable to make, ship and hang, but the customer rep said I should definitely not go with the shades as they would be too heavy to roll up and not get the curtain of 93" made into two which would have made the curtain much more manageable in every way. The first curtain was shipped but never arrived, got stuck in Florida and fedex reported it damaged. After constant f/u on my part, the company said they would remake and send it express. Great thank you. When the package arrived it was seriously damaged. The 30-40 pound curtain was being held inside of cardboard that was so flimsy it was like tissue paper in comparison to what it needed to be to safely and securely hold the curtain. There was one layer of very flimsy tape wrapped around the box and it was broken open in several places, revealing bits of the curtain. And the curtain rod - a very thin aluminum rod which was sent to hold the curtain was damaged. The aluminum was so flimsy, there was no way it would hold this monstrously heavy curtain. Further, there were no brackets, no hooks nothing inside the box to put the flimsy aluminum rod up. Why not package the curtain in corrugated cardboard box, with plastic zip stays to hold it together and make it easy for the fedex people to handle. Last thing, the grommets which if the engineer had really been thinking could have been made bigger to ease the weight of the curtain on a rod. There are rods out there that can hold this curtain, vs. the flimsy aluminum sent to me. They did not send brackets for the rod or hooks for the tiny grommets which meant I could not hang the curtain. And the grommets are so small that the strong curtain rod I found to hold it would not even fit into them. I know the grommets were meant for hooks, but really why not make them big enough to be put on a strong curtain rod they do exist. I rigged up a rod, hooks and put the curtain up, but alas it doesn't block out the noise because the velcro on the back won't stick to the aluminum window frame and stay in one place. Total design nightmare and a terrible waste of my time and money. This is a great idea, but the execution on the part of the staff who tried their best, has serious flaws. the engineer should definitely design a carton strong enough to hold the product and companies package heavy furniture to ship regularly. Learn how to package and deliver this product. Have a check and balance system in place to ensure that each order that goes out has all the necessary hardware to hang the product.

First off, these folks are very easy to work with. I went back and forth a number of times with support prior to my order and they were very good at answering my questions.

The product itself, the Acousti-Trac, fits perfectly. No complaints there.

The curtain I ordered is very large, around 70x50, and I was surprised to see the front covering fabric drooping. While the curtain is tacked at all four edges, there are no tacks in the middle so the facing fabric tends to sag. This is not a very nice visual and if you're a perfectionist it will drive you nuts. It's in my bedroom, so I'm not that concerned.

The design flaw with the acousti-track is to get the best sound dampening you have to use the top velcro piece. This makes it VERY difficult (essentially impossible) to easily open and close the curtain. I've adapted this by sliding the semi-adjustible track as close to the wall as possible so the top part of the curtain touches the moulding.

The bottom velcro is challenging, but at least you can lift the bottom out while you're trying to open the curtain on the track.

I live right next to a busy freeway. I can still hear every car that goes by, albeit at lower volume. Perhaps a combination of engineered triple pane windows AND this curtain would cut the freeway noise down to very low levels. But the curtain alone will not do it. My *guess* is the noise is cut down 25-30% in volume.

If you live by a busy road, and that's your primary reason for ordering this, you are only going to get partial relief.

I searched high and low for a way to make my home more quiet on the inside, no screaming kids, no barking dogs or loud freeway noise..I wanted it all on the outside, not in my home. Finally, I found this amazing company. Voila, got my curtains, noise stays out, quiet stays in...success. The curtain is very heavy, so I have to be careful putting it up and down, and not sure about the fabric, however, the curtain DOES do EVERYTHING it says its going to do..very, very pleased.

While they do dampen some noise, they're not effective at blocking out low frequency noises. The website notes that this, but I thought I'd give it a try.

Blue color is attractive and they look good. Installation a bit confusing because the velcro is inset from the edges.

Took longer than expected to receive the blinds.

Overall, they're okay, just not very effective at fixing my particular issue.

I was very pleased with my purchase. The custom size was exact, the colors were exactly what I was expecting and the workmanship is perfect. I slept better the very first night we put up the curtain.

Curtain is nice quality, some issues with shipping.

Bought a curtain the size of a door to cut the sound coming from the first floor to the ground floor where my in-laws live... my father in-law is hard of hearing and could here me speak so I bought the Residential Acoustic curtain to stop his whining!?! Ever since I installed it, peace has been restored in the household! lol ;v)
Oh... and also! It makes a stop draft keeping the cold air from going downstairs and making my father in-law whine even more :vD

The curtains really do help lessen the loud street noises in NYC. My only issue is that the hooks were not strong enough to hang the curtains--perhaps because my ceiling to floor length curtains were especially heavy. Fortunately, my handyman was able to reinforce the hooks with additional hardware, so my curtains are secure.

This company is in infant stages.The brain behind the product is a very young ,energetic and enthusiastic man with engineering back ground.My wife and i visited the small warehouse/factory in Tampa. The owner took the time to explain the product and its development.Got a chance to look at the materials. Friendly people.Willing to listen to new ideas and always trying to improve on the product. I have no doubt in my mind that in a few months they will have new products available for the public.
We are happy with the sound proofing quality of the product we bought.

I was sure to clarify with Residential Acoustics(through an email) that I was supposed to measure the window itself and they would add additional inches to seal the frame. I made my measurements with this in mind. After a painstaking 2 week wait, my curtains arrived incorrectly sized and unusable. Now they are arguing that there is 'nothing they can do' and that is it 'clear on the website' even though I have it in writing and electronic documentation that they are wrong. Stay away from these guys...very hard to work with and disappointing service.
