Screwfix Ireland website orders come from the UK and there is no warning.

Chris from support was unhelpful, ended chat randomly 3 times and seemed to not pay attention. Probably at home playing playstation and ignoring customer issues.

Faulty product & shoddy service

I purchased a Triton shower from the online site, it had an issue after a few months. They asked me to return it.

They shipped a new version, it did not work either. I've now paid €260 for plumber fees (not including originally installation fee) which they will not cover, in fact they would not even respond to my email.

I returned both faulty showers to the Limerick shop & they tried to refuse return because there was some water in the shower pipe. Eventually I got a refund but it was done under duress after me offering loudly in a busy shop to take the product outside the door & drain the water. He said yes please do that, fortunately a manager intervened at that point & stopped him.

Had I purchased from an Irish retailer Triton Ireland would have sent a service engineer to repair but they will not cover products imported by Screwfix.

I won't be trying to save a few Euro in future & will stick with the Companies that provide support even at a premium price, lesson learned!!

Fast order fulfillment (for collection)

I only used Screwfix's customer collection service.

Huge selection of products.
Good prices.
Fast order fulfillment: Ordered at 9.50 am on Sunday, my order was ready for collection 10 mins later!

Excellent service, thanks :)

Very happy with customer service, but packaging needs improvement.

I have ordered from this company 3 times. Good prices etc. One of the items (a Hozelock trolley) arrived damaged & was replaced immediately - good customer service - all went smoothly. The only issue I have with them is that the packaging for delivery could be improved on - in my opinion, it's just not robust enough.

Click and Wait

Never saw more relaxed staff as the staff in Screwfix.
I saw 5 different staff members but only one was serving the queue of customers. Don't know what the other were doing but they were certainly ignoring the waiting customers. Only when the queue was out the door and into the car park did a second staff member decide to serve the customers. There website says Click and Collect in one minute More like Click and Wait until staff are ready

Replacement Roof Ladder

Ordered a roof ladder for work abroad but item delivered damaged. You know how good a company is when things go wrong. Screwfix Thame resolved the issue to my satisfaction and Lyte pulled the stops out to get a replacement out to me in time. Well done to all concerned.

I bought online 'Apollo Reed

I bought online 'Apollo Reed, Garden Screen 4x1m.
Honestly, it doesn't deserve 1 star. I rather thought it an offence to deliver such material. Unrapping the parcel bit and pieces came of. Every half to one cm there was a bit of thin Reed more or less held together by a flimsy wire. The only quality of the 'screen' was the price which indicated a good product.
This was my first purchase from this shop and propably the last.

Great experience

So sorry to hear that people can have a bad experience with Screwfix. I ordered brass doorknobs. They arrived within 2 days and they were fabulous. Excellent quality. I'm delighted with them.

I am disappointed with Screwfix

I am disappointed with Screwfix, I paid £133 for an order which I never received, so I went to the store and placed the same order a second time and paid £133 again, then they tell me that money will be returned to your account after 3 days, whenever I waste time with them for many hours on the phone, for their own problem

No Environmental responsibility

Ordered drill bits that would have fit in a 1/2 A4 envelope but instead arrived in a 400mm x 300mm x 75mm cardboard box. No regard for environmental impact despite the PR stuff on their corporate website.

Just been and spent approximately £150…

Just been and spent approximately £150 on bits. Absolutely nothing in stock gotta do next day and other bits I want totally unavailable. What’s the point in putting it on the site. Also almost never get discounts yet mr smith buying a paint brush 6 months ago gets a discount! Try rewarding loyalty!🤬. Maybe I should start using toolstation see if they do any better.

Unpleasant experience

I was in the Swords store recently, A lovely lady was serving me as I was looking for a pipe fitting. She couldn’t seem to find the piece I was looking for/did not know what it was called. She then asked for assistance off a fellow male colleague who she thought would know and got a very rude reply in which he then said “you’ll need a plumber for that”. I felt sorry for the woman as she was only looking for help and did not deserve to be spoken to in that manner. Just cause of how pleasant she was I will be back to shop in the store again but I was just extremely annoyed as to how her fellow colleague could speak to her like that.

Awful online customer service if you…

Awful online customer service if you live in Ireland. Avoid! Returning items is a nightmare and you have to wait three days for a return label. Absolutely no response from customer service email and several calls to Uk number. Very disappointed with this company, will never buy from them again.

Demanding intrusive information from customers.

Bought something from the store at Little Island, in Cork. Would have bought at he B&Q store that I'd just been in, but prices were marginally cheaper (every cent saved is a cent earned).

Did the catalog thing, then queued up to wait. 3 counters open, but one customer who could not get an order filled because their computer system would not allow it, another who was back I think for the 3rd (or was it 4th?) time because something they had bought was broken. Other till finally clears (we're not talking a huge number of customers but still took 10 minutes!) and I go to pay. And wait. And wait.

When I ask what the problem is, the woman on the till says to her supervisor that she can't process the order, because I failed to give my full name and postcode etc which I didn't want to do. This information isn't needed at all to buy what I want and I objected to doing so (I get enough junk mail thanks). Her supervisor then said it was necessary. When I wanted to know why, he said it was 'because they were a trade counter'. Which is another way of saying 'we're a shop'. Outside of a pharmacy, or verifying identity to collect an order (I'd not even paid at this point), there is no reason for demanding personal information.

Giving up arguing at this point as I'm getting incredibly stressed, I gave the details I did not want to give, and the till operator gave me a card for my future purchases that I did not want. I already have one on the floor of my car! This just makes clear to me, they want customer details so they can track what people buy, and then sell the information on, there is no other reason for a 'store card'.

Finally paid (15 minutes waiting at this point), and after another 5 minutes, finally got what I came in for and managed to leave.

Having complained about this now to the company, I'm being told they have no need for all the details demanded; this suggests they have either no idea how their systems work, or the people who deal with complaints are lying.

Having provided them with all the details, they've not bothered to read any of what I've said and are asking me to provide the same information all over again.

Which suggests they are taking the approach of winding me up so much that I give up and they can say 'customer did not proceed with the complaint'.

B&Q are not much better, but next time I'll buy stuff in one place and not chase the saving of a few cents, and avoid the slow service and staff who lie compulsively.

Take money for nothing

Bought a compressor, money removed from my account and a week later after numerous attempts to get an answer about the delivery they tell me the compressor has been sent back to them and they don't know why, also they have no compressors left, anywhere! So now a week later I'm back at square 1, no compressor and I'm out of pocket 500 quid for nearly a week.

Thanks guys, what a joke

Terrible shop

Terrible shop, nothing in stock that I need, after giving them my phone number I'm bombarded with scam calls. I'll stick to an Irish company where I can go in and pick up exactly what I need without having to hand over my life story.
