Shopped around several stores online. Like for like Screwfix were the (equal) cheapest.
Sales assistant at their Bredbury store ( Ian) could not have been more helpful. He opened the box and explained how to connect up the various components our new purchase.
Highly impressed

Ordered online a product from Screwfix. When it did not arrive they were not interested. Tried to deflect to courier company. Requested a refund. When it was issued it did not include shipping. Contacted their customer services and, despite being courteous and civil with them, they terminated the the online chat. They could learn so much from the waynB&Q deal with such matters. Not recommended.

The service I have had from Screwfix before has been very good. However, I wanted to cancel an order I placed online and found it virtually impossible to do this. They do not want you to speak to a real life person and direct you to WhatsApp. The first message you get is the usual one from second rate companies: “we are very busy at the moment and there may be a longer than usual wait time…” Rubbish. What they mean is they are too concerned about profit to employ people to answer questions. I had hoped for better but obviously I was wrong. I will not be dealing with them again.

Screwfix is aimed at the DIY consumer market. Like most of those, I need one M20 washer but their smallest pack is 50? What a total waste of materials that will sit in peoples garages, increasing waste, pollution, climate change, resources. Does Screwfix not want to look after Earth's environment???

Ordered air con units twice, didn’t hear anything about collecting, rang customer service to be told it was a system error and they aren’t in stock. I had to wait a week for a refund

Ordered a couple of bits for the first time with the speedy delivery service. Waited a couple of hours, no delivery, called customer services who were going to deal with it. I then got a delivery time waited again for the order and when the delivery time came the order was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. Thanks for wasting my time. Won’t use again.

I purchased three emergency lights from Screwfix for £49 each, the products were faulty and I only noticed it after 1 year, I had to buy replacement from somewhere else as I lost my face in 4Lite brand. Screwfix started creating marketplace and reselling other brands. The product been discontinued, and it speaks for itself that it was a faulty product however Screwfix preferred to screw customers by not making recall for a faulty product they sold! It is a shameful business!

Drove 35 minutes to this store to collect the patio cleaner I ordered, they wouldn’t let me have it without showing my ID to prove I’m over 18, to put this in perspective, I’m 32 years old, I was with my 32 year old wife & my 1 year old child. I haven’t carried ID for 10 years. Never seen anything so ridiculous in my life.

Lee Matthews delivery driver from the Enfield depo was fantastic today, happy, polite, delivered our dishwasher to kitchen that is the basement. five stars for Lee!!!

I purchased a Titan TT1821GGT strimmer and the spool cover broke, which to be fair could happen but you can't get a spare, which makes the strimmer useless.

Damaged packaging, missing fixings — and customer service made it worse

Ordered an Einhell 4500067 Chainsaw Horse from Screwfix (Order A25008232057, 27/02/2026). When I came to assemble it on Saturday 25th April, the packaging was split open and damaged in transit, and several of the screws and bolts were missing.
I had a job lined up that morning, so couldn't waste an hour driving back to Elgin to return it. I ended up stripping fixings off my old chainsaw horse just to cobble the new one together — meaning I now have a half-built, partially dismantled old horse sitting in my workshop because of Screwfix's quality control failure.
The simple fix was always for Screwfix to post out a replacement screw and bolt pack — a £2 envelope of fixings. Instead, customer service told me I'd have to do a 20-mile round trip to Elgin, dismantle the new horse, refit my old horse, and exchange it in store as a "gesture of goodwill." When I pushed back on the absurdity of spending more hours fixing their packaging failure, I got "no problem, anything else?" — they tried to close the chat without resolving anything.
A £33 product should arrive complete and intact. And when it doesn't, the resolution shouldn't cost the customer half a working day. Won't be ordering big-ticket items from Screwfix again.

Ordered a radiator cover box arrived a big shoe print on it and damaged in places. Guess what the cover inside also damaged sent straight back sent pictures /video keep asking how much longer for a refund keep getting told not in the warehouse yet, Terrible service seeing video and photos should have a refund straight away...... Now saying checking with their finance department yet I received an email saying it had been refunded days before they are terrible company

Gift cards - don't waste your time. They don't work online even though you have to order the stuff they don't have in stock online in the first place. Someone has wasted £20 buying me this. Disappointed.

Very pleasant and helpful staff at the Lancaster branch, who appear genuinely interested in my projects. Convenient opening times. They usually have what I need in stock. Easy returns policy, when needed.

I went into Screwfix in Ferndown to pick up an order. I had written down the order number on a piece of paper and got it out of my pocket. What I didn't notice was that I had pulled out a wad of £20 notes that fell to the floor. When I got back I couldn't find the money and as I had visited a number of shops I had no idea where I might have lost it. Later that day a staff member from Screwfix came to my house on his way home to let me know that they had found the money and it was in their safe. They had gone back through their CCTV and saw what had happened. What amazing service!

Not often that I feel so inclined to spend time writing a positive review about a retailer. Many of us feel exasperated when we receive bad service and go online to vent our feelings. However, in this particular case it is my total praise with the staff at my local screwfix in Kenley near Purley.
Today was exceptional, I had two members of staff helping me figure out what had gone wrong with a purchase I made 6 months ago. They were not selling me anything, they were just being so helpful. Top marks for customer service.
And that is certainly not the only occasion I have been super satisfied with the service I have received. Helpful, super friendly and I am always happy when I leave. 10 out of 10.

Bought some Karcher hose on line. At the time of collecting told it was out of stock, be in stock in a couple of days. Went to collect and advised on pick up to pop back the next week as the price was going to be discounted and I could seek the difference. Popped into Leighton Buzzard store this morning and lovely Lady served me and credited my Mastercard in 5 mins. I mean how good is that? May thanks LB Branch, will be popping in again

I was served in Basingstoke branch by a lovely lady called Sam, she took the time to find out the size of the screws I needed and even fitted it for me. Such a helpful and pleasant person. Thank you Sam
