I read the reviews and they seemed very questionable but I needed a present asap and ordered an MP3 player at a price I thought was too good but to my utter surprise it arrived 2 days later on May 18 2020 and it was ordered on the 16th I just remembered to write a review now 3 months later lol. Would definitely consider again if I need something cheap or on short notice but still a bit skeptical due to all the other bad reviews.

I purchased a portable 5TB drive recently, and it failed in the first 3 months. I contacted support to inquire about a replacement (well within the warranty period). At first, they wanted me to pay return shipping charges, which I thought was a bit unfair for a defective drive. I had to go back and forth with customer service, and they agreed to pay the shipping costs. But they said the replacement would take weeks! They wanted me to ship back the defective drive so that they could take "5-7 business days" to run tests to prove that it's defective. Then I'd have to wait for them to process a new order for the replacement. OR I could pay an extra fee for an advanced replacement. For a company this large, I'd expect the process to be more customer-friendly.

I contacted the retailer where I bought the drive, and they provided a replacement immediately.

WD customer service was nice and polite, but their replacement policies aren't great. And I worry about the quality.

Useless customer service.
Won't give you your own money back until all their procdeures have run their course.
Even when their contractor (UPS) failed to deliver on the date that THEY gave.

Even contacting the CEO did not get things done.
Still waiting for my refund!

Ordered a 14TB external drive. Price was amazing but stock not expected for 1-2 weeks.. For that price, I can wait, I decided. Paid wirh PayPal so money was taken immediately.
Two weeks passed and had no contact so emailed them. Received automated reply but nothing more. A week later I rang them and spoke to an assistant who basically shrugged his shoulders and told me he couldn't tell me when any stock was due.
I wasn't impressed with this so badgered him a little after he told me he doubted payment had actually even been taken. He said all he could do was contact the stockroom and ask them for any info they might have. He then promised me an email with any news on which I was going to decide whether to cancel or not.
True to his word, he did and my drive shipped about 5 days later. I wasn't in a rush to get it so I was happy to finally receive it with such a good discount. Communication was terrible though and can't really say I could recommend using this company especially after reading about so many bad experiences others have had.

Ordered an SSD - gone missing with the courier.

I must deal with the seller.

After great difficulty I found a previous email address and contacted them for a resolution.

An incident was raised - but only an automated reply.

Web site doesn't let me log in to update the incident so another email sent.

Being totally ignored now and will be contacting Paypal for a refund.

Wouldn't recommend purchasing from this company.

Update:

22 days after my order with WD I received a refund via Paypal. WD were involved as an incident but still wouldn't resolve - buyers beware.

Now ordered a Crucial MX500 and will recommend to family and friends not to buy from WD direct.

Scam artists. I returned two items to them but received a refund only for one of them. They have ignored my emails and I am unable to get in contact with them. Very unhappy as I have been scammed out of £85.

EDIT: After a very long time and many emails, I was eventually able to get the refund sorted. Would not recommend.

No product support, they just beat around the bush. No reasonable response. Every time there is a firmware update, it just make things worse. Trying to use the Safepoints facility to back up my data to an external NAS device and it just doesn't work. No support at all to try to find out what the issue is.
