Terrible experience
I was first quoted an amount but by the time the move happened the cost was more than doubled. B and A movers were their moving company and they ruined so much of my furniture! They gave me $225 for damages but I had atleast $2,000 in damages. Don’t use these people!
My pictures did show a huge hole in the back of my China cabinet! The dowels to hold the glass shelves to my bakers rack missing, legs to king bed frame missing and yes lots of visible scratches to nice furniture!.
I had no way to complete a form online…..I tried numerous times - that’s when I asked you to mail me a form!
I did contact the claim dept over and over again.

False commitments
I had a very negative experience with Starline Van Lines during my move from Cary, NC to Flower Mound, TX.
1. I sent a list of items to their relocation specialist(cannot specify as it is against Trustpilot policy) along with measurements. He initially estimated the cubic footage at 358 cf but later increased it to 458 cf at my request, to avoid any last-minute surprises. Here are the details:
Move type: Long distance (1193 miles)
Estimated volume: 458 cf
Estimated rate: $3.10 per cf
Total moving estimate: $2560
Advance payment: $1150
Stair fee waived: $0.01 (due to the apartment being on the second floor with just one flight of stairs)
2. He assured me that I would only pay for the actual space used and that any unutilized cubic feet would be deducted from the final cost. This is my first mistake as I should have asked for this line to be present in the agreement.
3. Two days later, their QA Manager, called me on a Saturday evening while I was outside and insisted on going over the list of items. Despite my request to reschedule, I was pressured into going through the list over the phone. During the call, she recalculated the volume at 566 cf and claimed that their relocation specialist had not taken any of the measurements I had sent him. She informed me that I would need to immediately pay $300 as part of the deposit to cover the increase in cubic feet and confirmed that my final payment would reflect only the space I actually used. This is my second mistake as I signed the document without checking for all the numbers and on the phone.
4. When I reviewed the new agreement later that evening, I noticed that the total estimate had increased from $2560 to $3234.97. Initially, I thought I only had to pay an additional $300, but the actual increase was $674 (3234.97 - 2560). I called their QA manager immediately, but no one answered. I also tried reaching their relocation specialist, with no response. I left messages for both of them, but received no reply. Despite this, I remained calm, as I believed my items wouldn't occupy the full 566 cf, and that my final payment would reflect the actual space used after loading.
5. On moving day, I was hit with my first surprise: the movers demanded additional payment for the stairs. It turned out that only the first flight of stairs was free, and the additional flight cost $75. They counted just seven steps as a flight. When I contacted Starline Van Lines customer service, I was directed to the dispatch manager, who told me to refer to the Moving Company documents for the number of steps calculation, as Starline was not responsible.
6. My second shock occurred after loading the truck. The driver initially said my items occupied around 398-400 cf, but after consulting with his manager, he revised the estimate to 450 cf. The company refused to reduce the cost for the unused space (566 cf reserved - 450 cf used = 116 cf) and insisted that I pay for the reserved space. The driver then called his manager and explained the situation, handing me the phone. When I answered, the first thing I heard was, "Are you gonna pay or what?" I was taken aback and tried to explain the situation, but the response was the same, "Are you gonna pay or what?". Realizing there was no point in continuing the conversation, I told him I needed to speak with Starline Van Lines and would call him back.
7. I contacted the dispatch manager again, but he denied that there was any policy about reducing the cost for unused space. He told me that if I didn’t pay the full cost for the reserved space, my items would be unloaded, and I would lose my deposit of $1450 ($1150 + $300). He stated that I should have only reserved the space I needed and would have to pay the amount specified in the agreement I signed.
In the end, I paid $3234.97 + $150 for the loading stairs + $150 for the unloading stairs, totaling $3834.97. My biggest frustration was how the Sales and QA teams misled me by assuring me I would only pay for the space I actually used.
Final points:
1. Don’t believe the false promise of "pay only for what you utilize.". This is not mentioned in the agreement. You’ll end up paying whatever is stated in the agreement, and it’s very likely to be more than you expected, but never less.
2. The number of steps that count as a "flight of stairs" is determined by the moving company not the broker (e.g., Starline Van Lines).
Here’s the breakdown for my 19 steps => $150:
1-7 = free, 8-14 = $75, 15-19 = $75
3. They only disassemble hardwood furniture, not pressed or compressed wood items like those from IKEA or other boxed furniture. This was clarified by their QA team, not the salesperson, who conveniently left this out.

If I could give this company zero stars… LIARS, SCAMMERS. DO NOT USE!!!
If I could give this company zero stars I would. They are disloyal and dishonest. We used them for our move, and they upcharged us by almost 4K. We are a military family, and my husband is a disabled veteran, who served this country for 20 years. This company took advantage of us, lied to us, and refused to refund us our money.
We were originally quoted 1 thing, then it went up the 2nd time, and then a 3rd time when the drivers put everything on the truck and claimed you used a certain amount of cubic feet. We are not movers, so we blindly trusted them. These are supposed to be estimates, yet they make pay upfront. We paid the initial deposit but then were told we had to pay an additional deposit because we supposedly would need more cubic feet. This is all done prior to anyone even seeing what we needed to move.
When our items arrived at our new home, the driver would not release our items unless we paid the final amount. I found this to be unfair but what can I do? They had our belongings. Once we paid, our items were offloaded and placed inside our home.
After everything was offloaded, the driver told us that we only used 700 cubic feet and not 1300 like we were told and made to pay. He told us to take photos and videos and contact the company right away. We did just that. We contacted Starline and explained what was going on. They told us to email them the video and photos and they would "investigate it" and get back to us. It has been 3 weeks and no response from them. We have called over 6 times and emailed 4 times. We spoke with someone on Friday, he claimed his manager stated that they spoke with us, and had proof we used 1500cf, the said 1300, and lastly 1100cf. 1st off, no one ever called or emailed us, 2nd Which is it 1500, 1300, or 1100cf? He didn't even know what he was talking about. Stating that the "manager" would call us on Monday. NEVER HAPPENED!!!!!!
Today is Thursday and again, I sent another email the night before. Still NO PHONE CALL OR EMAIL!!!!
I have had it, this company does not care who they rip off and will hang up on you when you call, lie, and ignore every email you send.
WE HAVE PROOF THAT WE ONLY USED 700 CUBIC FEET. THE DRIVER IS HEARD ON THE VIDEO ADMITTING IT, WE HAVE PHOTOS!!!!!! Yet this rip-off of a company claims they have other proof. I do not care what supposed proof you have, there is no way we went from using 1300cf at pick up and then 700cf at delivery. When you pick up, you can arrange items however you want to make it seem like we are using whatever space you claim. What matters is the amount we used when it arrived.
PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW A SUPPOSED 1500 CUBIC FEET MOVE THAT YOU CLAIM WE USED AT PICK UP CHANGED TO 700 CUBIC FEET AT DELIVERY. SO, SOMEHOW, WE USED 800 CUBIC FEET LESS. THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE UNLESS HALF OF OUR ITEMS WERE LOST.
We received almost all of our items, we are missing a lamp, and they also damaged our $1,200 Weber Grill, and broke the wheels off.
This company should be ashamed of themselves. How could you lie to hard-working people, especially a disabled veteran? You should be ashamed of yourself.
Also, they are not movers, they outsource vendors. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! Take a look at BBB, they have so many complaints against them, just like ours, and yet somehow, they are still able to operate.
SHAME ON YOU STARLINE VANLINES!!!!!!!!
Response 9.27.24
1st off the video and photos we sent were after the last item was taken off the truck and placed in our home. Your own driver told us we used 700 cubic feet, he told us to takes pictures and videos of it and is even heard toward the end of the video restating that we used only 700 cubic feet. 2ND, So, my information is correct. LASTLY, You already tried saying this once before and then changed your story. I even resent you everything with time stamp (which you requested) was told someone would "investigate" and would get back to ME AND NEVER DID!!!!
YOU ARE A DISHONEST COMPANY, YOU HAVE DONE THIS TO COUNTLESS MILITARY AND NON MILITARY PEOPLE!!!

SERVICE MEMBERS BEWARE
SERVICE MEMBERS BEWARE! Predatory behavior on every level. If I could give 0 stars I would. This company will lie and make things seem great until they have your deposit. Then you are locked in and must accept the rate increases and promises broken. At this point, we are fighting for a refund but have chosen to lose our deposit over continuing to do business with them. They are really that bad. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR A DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. We have reported to BBB and governor's offices in Florida and our home state.
UPDATE: the response here with an offer for full refund comes with dishonesty once again. I have spent a week communicating with Starline privately through direct email and BBB. They have repeatedly refusing to acknowledge any issues with their employees promising things outside of the contract and leaving customers holding the bill. I was offered a partial refund of $400 (of the $2400 paid) in exchange for removing my complaints and signing an agreement to not talk about it publicly.

I put a refundable deposit down of $800 and asked to cancel and get refunded within the refund window. The refund was approved by their online billing team via email but then never issued. I have followed up via phone call over 50 times and they keep saying to send an email reminder as the billing team can only be reached by email, they do not have a number and they are unable to contact them to assist me. I have sent numerous emails asking for my refund or even just an update on my refund with no response. The refunds are supposedly processed on Fridays according to their costumer service team. I paid the deposit on Thursday, April 25, 2024, and asked for the cancellation and refund on Friday, April 26, 2024. It has been months of me trying to get my money back.
Think twice before you ever use this…
Think twice before you ever use this company. Don't be fooled by the four star review because it's false. Look at reddit reviews. Wish I had.
Is a brokerage it's not a Moving Company. They sign you up take your first third. Then they're done with you. Communication at this point will almost cease to exist. I did not get notification my shippers were even arriving. When you call customer service, you're gonna get the runaround. It isn't an office full of people waiting to help you. It's remote workers from the home with no information. They will tell you you need to talk to so-and-so, but that person's off today so they'll call you tomorrow of course they never do. When you call the customer service number if you're on hold, they'll ask you and get back to you... They never do.
When I signed up for the service, I was moving 350 Acu ft Feet Or a total of $2500. Three days before my pick up, it changed to 450 and $3500... Basically, just as a pad. They want to make sure that they reserve enough room for your stuff on the truck. Is there explanation? Well, guess what happens on the day shippers arrive to pick up your belongings... The gentleman does a visual price again. My five extra boxes added 400 cu ft And my new total is now $5000.
Communication at this point will cease. I have my things in storage for 30 days and I don't even know where to call to have them shipped. Worst company ever Worst company ever ever ever.
Sadly, I've given him $3000 at this point.
Edit so that I can reply to this bogus reply.
Such BS, showing more lack of
Integrity of a shady company.
I said four pieces of furniture and everything else boxes. My initial contract was for 350 ft.³ for 2500. Three days before my belongings were to be shipped we added 100 more cubic feet and a new total of 3500. Pick up they visually did an assessment and said I had 850 ft.³ and my new total was 5000. Whereas I might've had more, I didn't have twice as much. I maybe had 10 extra boxes there's no way that added up to 400 ft.³.
Additionally, in regards to communication, yes, I am grateful that someone actually answered the phone today. Because I have actually called eight times. I have left four messages with Starline, And three messages with Vanguard, who they broke my belongings to. Today I got someone to answer the phone. Maybe my belongings aren't being held hostage. There's no way that communication has been satisfactory for the last 30 days. I can't get anyone to answer questions out of eight phone calls. I've talked to someone twice. Today, one of them.
Due to the increase in cost, I'm now trying to take my belongings to Colorado instead of West Virginia from Washington state. I was told I probably would not receive a refund or discount even though I'm only going half as far. My belongings are actually supposed to ship by this coming Tuesday and my guess is they won't. Since no one's communicating with me, despite this representative from Starline has indicated. Don't be sucked in. On Friday, July 12, I called three times trying to find out what time my items would be picked up. I was not given a time and assumed that it would be picked up on Sunday instead. They require a commitment. When I didn't get my answer on that Friday, I assumed I had an extra day and that they likely would be coming on Sunday. I left a message Saturday morning at 8:30 to find out what was going on. No message was returned. So I called back at 12 o'clock. They indicated oh didn't they tell you they're coming between 10 and two. So this associate of the company thinks that's good communication, Again, I'd say run.
Between the lack of communication and regarding picking up my stuff, Changing location because of the up charge and being ripped off regarding cubic feet, And this gentleman has just indicated to indicate that it's my fault.... Says a lot.

BEWARE of Starlines Vanline and Their Affiliates (Green Van Lines & One Stop Relocation)
I had an extremely disappointing experience with Starlines Vanline and their affiliated movers, Green Van Lines and One Stop Relocation. My move, which should have been straightforward, turned into a nightmare. Here’s what happened:
Unreliable Quotes and Bait-and-Switch Tactics: I initially received a quote of $2800, which I chose over a $3000 flat rate offer because I was assured it was a "Binding to Not Exceed" price. However, just two days before my move, I was quoted $4428 despite no changes in my inventory. On moving day, this quote inexplicably jumped to $6400. This massive increase felt like a bait-and-switch tactic and was completely unacceptable.
Overcharging on Cubic Footage: The movers claimed they used 1100 cubic feet of space, but after measuring it myself in front of them, I discovered they only used 768 cubic feet. This discrepancy led to a $2000 overcharge. I sent them videos as proof and requested a refund, but they denied my claim without any valid reason.
Damage and Loss: To add insult to injury, they damaged half of my belongings and lost other items. The lack of care and accountability in handling my possessions was appalling.
Despite my attempts to resolve these issues with them directly, they have been unresponsive and dismissive. If you value your belongings and your peace of mind, avoid Starlines Vanline and their affiliates. They are untrustworthy and unprofessional. STAY AWAY!!!!!

My experience with Starline Van Lines was pretty good. On July 2, I hired them for move from Orlando to New York. They were responsible, polite, and pretty much professional from start to finish. If I need to move again in future, I will hire them again. 8 out of 10..

We hired Starline Van Lines and paid…
We hired Starline Van Lines and paid them $1700.00 as a deposit to move our fully loaded 20-ft shipping container to NM. We signed a contract for a total amount due of $2700.00. Two days before the scheduled 6/19/24 pickup date, the company doubled the price in the contract, and the next day we got a call from the person who was supposed to be moving our container to NM. He told us that they cannot and do not perform this service! We sent an email to the company asking them to refund the $1700.00, as well as cancel the bill of laden.
Kevin, the person we had been talking to for close to a year, has suddenly vanished. All of our calls and messages are going unanswered. They have not responded to our requests, and still NO REFUND. BUYERS BEWARE!!! We are elderly and disabled and on a fixed income. I'm not sure if this is even a legitimate company. Unless you have a lot of money to throw away, I would look for another moving company!!!

STAY AWAY
DO NOT use them -
First of all - They don't have trucks or crews, they will sell your contract to other unqualified and unprofessional movers.
Secondly - They were responsive until we signed the contract then hell will break loose. They performed a low-ball estimate and received a call from "quality assurance" ONE days before the move to perform an estimate again, in which they hit me with a 60% price increase.
Finally - I had a very specific moving date as I had flights at night and I booked my move/ flights several weeks in advance, they made me sign the terms with a 2-day window pick up date "just in case something goes wrong" - Well, the reality is that they do NO EFFORT whatsoever to coordinate, schedule and book your move with the 3rd party until the DAY BEFORE your move - So obviously things will go wrong. I also hired a FULL packing move with them as I have 3 young kids and work a lot, but they did not communicate that with the 3rd party moving company which was expecting me to pack it.

DO NOT USE
Starline experts are paid to reserve the proper space based on the information that I provided. That’s literally their job. Peter grossly underestimated our space and price, only to be unavailable to deal with the aftermath of the mess he caused. This goes for the QA representative as well. I admittedly don’t know how the cubic feet process works so I relied on their paid professionals to do their jobs. Peter got the sale and then vanished. The contract was NOT honored by them because we moved 93% of our belongings. They made a very stressful situation unnecessarily more stressful.
This has been a nightmare...Do not use…
This has been a nightmare...Do not use this broker company! The totally underestimated my stuff, thus i had to pay 2X as much on pickup an delivery. Not like i can cancel, on moving day once my stuff is on the truck. They know that too....Secondly, it has been 10days since my expected delivery date and looks like i still have several more days to wait. Lies, lies, lies. Bottom line, they are just a broker, once they get you intial deposit they can care less! Which is why their contract states they are not liable for any issues that happen between the customer and actually moving company.
